Amazing what a little elbow grease and some know how can completely change a look for the better!
Yes it really is amazing
That is a custom job for sure, it looks awesome!! Gotta finish mine soon.
@@stanleywilliams2023 Thanks, I love how it turned out!
Looks better to me. Solid bar adds aggressive look Going to do my 02 soon, same style with 2 inch drop springs. .
I agree. I thing the solid bar looks better and more aggressive. Thanks for the comment.
Man you did a great job!!! Your video was fun too watching you paint the parts!!
Thanks!
@@whiplashtv2022 yes sir, I'm now a good spray painter too 👍lol
@@joshuakorson9641 you can do it!
@@whiplashtv2022 🤘
@@joshuakorson9641 👍🏻👍🏻
Major difference , Looks super clean 🔥
Thank you!
I have the 05 as well .an that makes a big difference 👌I don't care for the three colors for no reason (same feel) about it. Grate job man
Thanks! It definitely makes a huge difference and is definitely worth doing.
Hell yea bro, nice work! I have to do mine now. Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching
Night and day difference🔥
Thanks!
Looks great! How is it looking two years on now? I'd love to do this to my Victory Red RCSB cateye.
It is still doing great.
Man that looks awesome. You did a fantastic job. Like you I like the sporty look of it all painted the same . I hate that grey or black bumper trim . I love the way yours came out. look so good I subscribed
Thank you very much and thanks for the sub!
@@whiplashtv2022 your welcome. I'm watching a the muffler you did to it. Sounds good. Now I'm going to watch the headers you installed.
@@superior3384 Awesome! Thanks for watching them, and I am glad that you are enjoying them.
Looks much better! I’m curious to see some brake testing for the next round of goodies.
Thanks
Amazing job
Thank you!
The one the left is a HD hood to but all in all I think the painted chrome bumper looks better than the SS bumper and yea I agree with u think the solid grille bar looks better than the HD grille and from the looks of the ss bumper looks like it’s just went over the factory bumper looks wider r sticks out more r something
Yes the SS bumper cover sticks out more and is meant to go with the Chevy Silverado SS body clading which sticks out as well.
Excited to do this myself!! Did you do the same for handles and mirrors? Looks incredible! How’s that paint holding up?
It is holding up well! The mirrors were already done, but I did the tailgate handle and door handles. I highly recommend this 2k Clear Coat over the Duplicolor Clear. amzn.to/3gOW5Yg
How close of a match was the silver Birch metallic just recently did the HD conversion and was thinking of doing the front bumper myself..
The color matched great. The only thing that I would do different today is to use the 2K clearcoat instead of the duplicolor clearcoat. The duplex color clearcoat seem to have a little bit of a color hue to it. The 2K clearcoat is very clear, but be sure to wear a respirator when you spray it. Here is a link to it.

Would it have made a difference to separate the 3 pieces? I been wanting to do this and this video is a perfect step by step!
You can separate all three pieces if you want to, but I feel like mine turned out great without separating all three pieces and paying attention to getting the paint down into the cracks. You totally will love the difference once you do it.
Huge change in looks for the better! Would be interesting to know what a body shop estimate would have been. 🤑
Those are some nice trucks bro
Thanks
Will definitely be using this video as sort of a guide when I do this to my cateye but I was curious of your truck where did you get the mirrors or are they factory mirrors that are also paint matched?
Yes, the are just factory black mirrors that are color matched. The only thing that I would do differently is to use 2K Clear Coat instead of Duplicolor.
@@whiplashtv2022 will definitely have to try it out man thanks for the advice!
You’re welcome
Did u sand the plastic smooth from the little dimples it has or the ruff surface?
I wasn’t going for completely smooth, so I left a little texture. If you want it completely smooth then you had better have a palm sander because it is a lot of sanding.
@Whiplash TV ok cool. my truck is white, & a king cab I really want to paint my bumper top and bottom. But I'm leaving the bumper chrome. Your truck looks amazing. I have a 2 4 drop on 20 inch wheels.
@@oldguyBMX sounds like a nice truck. I appreciate the compliment. I love the color matched look.
Awesome video!! I’ve got an 05 silverado. And wanting to do this. My color is the birch metallic. Thanks!! :)
Thank you. I think the color match makes it look so much better.
@@whiplashtv2022 yessir it does! I agree 100% with that
@@CrazyWhiteBoy03 👍🏻👍🏻
It looks awesome!
Thanks David!
Looks really good!
Thanks Dane!
My truck is silver birch metallic. How well does it match in person with the duplicor
It matches very well with the Duplicolor. The only thing that I’d do differently is to use the 2000k 2 part clear install of the duplicolor clear.
Very good job nice
Thank you
What sand paper you use for chrome piece on bumper?
220 grit
And oh yea I’d get smoke lights and put in it it would definitely look good on the front end painted with black grille
Smoked would look good as well. I went with the black housing headlights to give it that dark look but didn’t want to go full smoked in the from. I did go with smoked headlights on the 2 door Tahoe that can be seen here on the channel.
What kind of paint did you use and How many cans of paint and clear coat did you use?
The links to the paint used is in the video description. 2 cans of primer, 4 cans of color minimum, and 4 cans of clear minimum.
Thanks!
@@Noah-nc5ey You’re welcome!
Fantastic!
Thanks
Great video, thinking of doing this to my 06. How many cans would I need to do the lower black valence piece only?
Probably 2 cans of color
@@whiplashtv2022 I’ve got priced $125 for a shop to do it and if I buy another can of paint it will be cheaper to let the shop do it
@hakaiytg9699 $125 for just the very bottom part isn’t bad. Most charge $500 to do the top, bottom, and middle of the bumper sections.
My headlights and turn lights are fogged over real bad, what kind and a link to what you have please
Here is a link to the headlights. I also have a video here on the channel on the headlights, taillights, and 3rd brake light.

@@whiplashtv2022 Going now to look. Thanks for the speedy reply
Is yours smoked or clear lens?
@@easttnrailray5685 clear lens with black frame in the background
U used 220 grit for the top plastic part and chrome on bumper?
Yup
That's looks Awesome...
I'm going to do it too...
Same color..
What is the color match code..
Thanks! The paint code is in the glove box. Here it is though. Just double check it against your paint code.
amzn.to/3XWI7F6
i saw that the link for the primer is for the rustoleum primer. would you recommend that one over the duplicolor primer?
I like the rustoleum primer
how many cans did you use to paint the front end ?
(4) 8 ounce cans
Where can i buy the paint
There are links in the video description to the paint.
what is the spray paint you used when you was spraying the color after the filler ?
Duplicolor Color Match Paint and Duplicolor Clear Coat
How did you color Mach I can’t fine mine
The paint code is on the bottom left of the sticker in the glove compartment door. Take that paint code and search it on Google or Amazon and you can find your paint. You can also have some places mix you up cans of it as well.
What sand paper did you use for the black part of the bottom bumper?
80 grit and 220 grit if I remember right.
Alright omw to color match my bumper😮💨😮💨
Heck yeah! 👍🏻
Hey bro is that silver birch? The color and what kinda paint I would love to do this with my cateye
Yes, it is Duplicolor Perfect Match Silver Birch, and Duplicolor Clear Coat.
@@whiplashtv2022 thanks my man, love the truck btw!
@@Kingdongmanny You’re welcome. Thanks, I appreciate it!
Is it ‘fine silver birch metallic’ ?
@@Kingdongmanny yes it is
How many cans did you use of color?
4
how many coats of paint and clear?
3
How long did it take you to sand? When did you know when to stop?
Around 1 hour. I stopped when everything was scuffed up really good.
THERE IS LINKS TO ALL OF THE PAINT, PRIMER, CLEAR COAT, AND PREP SPRAY USED IN THE VIDEO LOCATED IN THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION!!!! Be There is some bonus footage of new parts that have arrived for the Cateye in the video but if you fast forward through the video then you might miss it!!!
Can u plz upload more dash videos of the CTS-V? I’m in love w that particular build
@@dturfmadeit1518 I appreciate the request! Yes I can do more dash videos. Sorry that I haven’t posted it lately. The local drag strip closed and I haven’t been able to get back on the dyno with it now that the dyno has been repaired. Also, I just bought another sports car that I am about to unveil, so it has been crazy busy.
@@whiplashtv2022 thanks man looking forward to it. Good fortune on your car journey.
I painted the factory bow tie gloss black
Where did you order the paint
Amazon. What is your paint code?
Looks great! Did you add 2k clear? How is the paint on the chrome holding up?
Paint is holding up great. I used Duplicolor clear, but wish that I had used 2k clear before I think it is a better product.
How many cans of paint and clear coat did you use?
You will need this 4 pack of clear. Don’t get the Duplicolor clear. This 2k clear is much better.
amzn.to/3D52t5d
I used 4 cans of color as well.
Is this silver birch metallic ?
Yes it is
Do you sand after the primer is done?
No I didn’t. It wasn’t necessary for the finish that I wanted.
Anybody have a link to the grill on the ss truck?
Here ya go!

what rims are these?
They are American Racing wheels. Here is the video on these wheels and tires.

Hows the paint holding up?
Lol nevermind, just saw 5 mo ago its good in the comment below. Subbed and liked. Keep up the content!
Yeah it is still good. Thanks!
Paint match?
Yes, but it would have been better if I used the 2K clear instead of Duplicolor clear coat. In newer videos I used 2K clear coat.
The true test will be how long that owing will stick and stay with car washing!
I am hoping that it does well. I don’t power wash it and I only hand wash so that should help.
🔥🔥
Thanks
paint code?
It is always best to verify your paint code in your glove box. That will tell you what paint you need.
@@whiplashtv2022 i mean like whats the paint code for your truck im looking to get mine painted the same color but cant find the paint code for that color online.
Thats cleaner than a pope’s missile
Thanks!
🤔🤯👀
Both Trucks would look Cool with GM Fender Flairs color match and intalled.
I am not a fan of fender flares on lowered trucks personally. I like them on lifted 4x4 trucks though.
Rather have stock no going to lie
Rofl, first to say that so far.
You bought the wrong pewter color.
The color of this truck isn’t pewter
@whiplashtv2022 what color is it then?? I can tell the paint doesn't match
The paint does match. The color is Silver Birch Metallic. You can always find your paint code in your glove box.
That paint over chrome is gonna chip off in no time.
It is still holding on good so far
Great video thanks, helped a lot
Happy to hear it! You’re welcome!
Definitely isn't guna hold up on that bumper 😂
