    Colombia is a great place to live if you are a foreigner due to special treatment. Not so much for regular Colombians.

    We are cooling our heels (and keel) in Sint Maarten. It’s a lovely island, and the people we have met I consider family. When we get back in the water, sailing on to Colombia is on my short list of places.

    The term "expat" is only used to make people who associate the word "immigrant" with negative feelings, not feel bad for also being immigrants.

    • @torresalxndr
      @torresalxndr ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It can also be a reference for people who expatriate to another country by becoming citizens there. 😊 I agree though, society has wrongfully labeled the word immigrant as being a bad thing. Sad.

    • @torresalxndr

      It is very sad indeed, especially in the US where the entire population nearly, seems to forget that all come from immigrants. It's incredible how little Americans know about history as if they sprouted from the ground like little American saplings. Smh

      It's also used by people who haven't renounced citizenship in their home country.

    I travel to The Philippines 🇵🇭 for a number of years. 1st visit was when the USA 🇺🇸 had bases at Clark and Subic Bay. My recent trip was last year, 2022. Some US military veterans are still there. 😃
    American English is required to be taught from kindergarten to University.

      Digital nomads make around 5,000-10,000 DOLLARS a month working from foreign countries through their computers. They don't work jobs in columbia for columbian money. For you to do this you would somehow have to get a job in America and work remotely.

    This is an example of why americans shouldn't discriminate on refugees or immigrants in the u.s whether illegal or that their visa expired or whatever justification they have to hate bc they can easily be in the same position. I don't know your stance on this but if you agree w/ me, I would say you're just being helpful. If not, I smell hypocrisy. But I appreciate the recommendations. Also an interesting challenge for people in other countries to be more flexible with Foreigners but some are, which is cool. I think it just depends on their own bias and mentality, which is why they might be only friendly with certain Americans & foreigners. But I know is risky to bring up these conversations when not being from a place unless there is some resemblence to where the parents originate from compared to the country moving to.

      Digital nomads make around 5,000-10,000 DOLLARS a month working from foreign countries through their computers. They don't work jobs for foreign money. This allows them to spend less money since everything is cheaper in foreign countries. Even in JAPAN some things you buy is around 30% cheaper than you would in America since even the Yen is less valuable than the dollar.
