    I have dark skin and it worked for me (no white cast) the only thing I would say is that if you have a an oily skin type this might not be the best for you, but other than that I have no problem with it

    I live in England and we don't have much options in sunscreen especially when it comes to avoiding expensive postal fees. Dr V's product came in perfect time as I was about to travel to Greece. It wasn't totally invisible on my skin tone but it wasn't bad. While in Greece I'd use it before my long morning walks and felt the white cast looked worse after I had sweated. It's very greasy even though my skin is prone to dryness. Hoping it'll be better during the winter months when I'll need extra moisture on my skin, that said I don't feel I need SPF 50 in England during winter. It looked fine under makeup but I couldn't overly moisturise my skin prior to using the suncream. I definitely couldn't apply on makeup in Greece it was far too greasy. I have sensitive skin and it did not irritate my skin in any way just didn't like how greasy it felt on my face in 37 degrees sun. It's slightly expensive but the same price as color of science in the UK. I look forward to other products in her sunscreen line as I feel she may improve with time.

      I live in England too, my favourite sunscreen is the la roche posay anthelios (it is a chemical sunscreen and does have alcohol) but honestly if you want a satin rather than greasy finish, don't want to look ashy or have to use tinted spf then I would recommend steering clear from mineral sunscreens.

      Thanks for commenting. This is really helpful. I'm UK based too and finding a decent mineral sunscreen without cast has been a nightmare. At the moment I'm using Cosrx Aloe sun cream which is a hybrid chemical and mineral sunscreen with no cast. It's non greasy, moisturising and absorbs easily. I use Aloe Pura's aloe vera 50 spf suncreen on the body and is a moisturising chemical sunscreen.

    I’ve been using Dr. Vs sunscreen for about three months now and I love it. I’ve had a lot of trouble with sunscreen exacerbating hyperpigmentation in my skin. So this product has been perfect for me! I have combination normal/dry skin. So I love the dewy finish that I’m left with after it settles. I know Dr. V. is working on trying to make it more accessible to people with SOC in other countries - specifically Ulta. But I’m the meantime, I buy more than one bottle when I order to minimize shipping charges. I have extremely sensitive skin, so I’m used to paying more for certain products. It comes with the territory. But Dr. Vs product recommendations (the products that are not Dr V formulated) for reversing and preventing future hyperpigmentation have worked well for me as well. I do hope Ulta gets starts to sell Dr. Vs products.

    That shipping price is an issue for me too...so for that reason its currently a no...can change if price decreases...would prefer tinted too...lazy to wear foundation so i prefer when my spf doubles as foundation...

      By how much she put on no wonder she felt it looked greasy. Too much at one time, Dr V made iso you don't need to put so much on at one time from the ingredients in the sunscreen. it's about the amount layered each time plus each person/skin is different but I think she just put too much on there's no need for that amount for the face it's a small area, not the whole body.

    Is the best sunscreen I ever use, is helping with some pigmentation and DOSEN'T leave a white cast. I live in Portugal and sunscreen here is almost the same price as this one BUT THE SHIPPING was too much (17 euros) plus I had to pay customs so it cost me ALOT of money. I am in the U.K and had been looking forward to this. I purchased this as soon as it came out as I couldn’t wait to try it. The product was being marketed as non-comedogenic so having an oily skin I thought this would be great. However, after using it for a few weeks I had to stop as I was breaking out a lot. I did not mind that the product was not a matte finish and after reapplying it for 4-5 times a day my face would be like an actual frying pan full of oil by the end of the day. But it’s the breaking out that did it for me because now I am having to deal with the hyperpigmentation. For those with an oily face who have tried this it would be great if you shared your experiences to help others. Aside from this, the product did not sting or feel heavy on the skin as other mineral sunscreens do. On that note, I hope to try the matte version of this sunscreen when it comes out next summer.

    Now to this sunscreen. I bought 2 and I'm still kicking myself! About my skin type: brown skin, combination skin/dry or so I thought, a little bit sensitive, acne and rosacea prone, hyperpigmentation and melasma sufferer. This sunscreen was an epic failure for me! Please note this is my very personal experience. 1) It did leave a white cast on me. 2) It was super greasy and felt disgusting on my face. It had too much silicone. 3) It irritated my eyes. 4) It broke me out and made my face itchy- I think it was the too much silicone. 5) Expensive and shame on me for buying 2! I gave the 2nd one to my friend at work. 6) I was looking forward to try this sunscreen but it didn't work for me. The only positive for me was that it was easy to dispense and the bottle was small to carry in my bag. Glad to hear it worked for other people.

    We have super-limited options for mineral sunscreens in the UK so the price didn’t seem bad to me - we don’t really have drugstore mineral formulas here so I appreciate having this option on the market. This is the one! Maximum UVB/UVA (PA++++) protection, zinc oxide mineral sunscreen, no chemical filters, blue light protection, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, anti-pigmentation properties. My skin color is Maybelline FitMe's Deep Golden 368. Melts into my skin with no white cast, within 5 minutes, as expected with mineral sunscreens. Feels luxurious. Not greasy. Glowing. I agree that something should be done to mitigate the cost of shipping to the USA, since Dr V seems to have a a huge customer fan base here. Perhaps she will find a way to sell and ship from locations within the US, maybe even from Amazon for our convenience. Thank you for this detailed review.

    I was very excited about the launch of this sunscreen so much so that I bought 2 given the high shipping cost however, I'm a little underwhelmed. There's nothing special about it in my opinion, it leaves a white/blueish cast on my face. On a positive note, it wears well under make up and doesn't cause pilling with other products . Anyway, I will continue to use it until I run out of both bottles but will not repurchase. I will stick with my biossence mineral sunscreen which performs well for me.

It also seems like am getting the occasional white head pimple breakout which I rarely got before using this sunscreen. There is a cast but it’s bearable but I Dnt reapply during the day. Thank you for your very detailed review! I'm so pleased to see someone that is my complexion doing this review.
    The price and shipping is too much, but I bought it anyway because I am a fan of Dr.V and was expecting great things.
    I am sure there is 50ml in the bottle but when I held it up in front of my ring light, it is half full. I'm not sure why it's put in such a large bottle.
    The texture felt fine on the back of my hand, but on my face it felt a bit greasy, I'm combl/oily. even after an hour it was still a bit sticky, but it may just be my skin.
    Thank you for sharing your tip on applying to dry skin and layering the sunscreen so that you don't get the white cast, that maybe where I have been going wrong. I watched Dr.V's TH-cam and followed exactly what she did - she applies a peptide ceramide moisturiser first, followed by her sunscreen quarter to half a teaspoon dotted across the face . I can tell you, I looked like a horror show doing it that way because it left me with a white cast! 😬 so not one I can wear on its own and certainly not one I can reapply throughout the day.
    I like that there is no smell. I've read a lot of people love this product and that's great but I won't repurchase.

    This is a really detailed review, Danielle. I found the cost and 'activity' involved in getting it where I am really prohibitive, and I have some concerns around Dr V, so thought I'd try the Ilia skin tint first. Having watched this and read comments about greasiness, I am even less likely to buy it now as I have oily skin. Tfs

    • @zd5116
      @zd5116 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I too started to have concerns about Dr V after she started recommending at home microneedling, put out lots of misinformation on chemical sunscreens, told us what comedogenic/skin sensitising ingredients to stay away from but then ended up recommending products with irritants, fruit extracts. If you follow her videos closely (like I did for over a year you'll find a lot of fear mongering with regards to denatured alcohol and chemical sunscreens as well as contradictory claims). I trust her when she says her videos aren't sponsored and that she's putting out information for her skin of colour family but once I started noticing holes in her claims and many contradictions I started having doubts about her claims. Finally I figured out that she's a business woman at the end of the day and will promote her products

  • @donniblahh
    @donniblahh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I saw her the other night for the first time and I was trying to find a product on other sites and I did not see it. Thank you for advising that she's not in the US in addition to the shipping and handling. That's more than likely the reason I didn't find her anywhere else attempting to find a lower price.

    Let me get this straight, Dr. V’s sunscreen is greasy, expensive and perhaps less than sheer for those of us in the deeply melanated crew. I’ll pass. I think I’m going to stick with Cotz for mineral sunscreen - Cotz tinted Spf 50 for cooler, drier weather and Cotz sensitive spf 40, non-tinted for all other weather.

    It definitely is a luxury Sunblock but the ingredients make it worth it! Lol i love this stuff but youre right the shipping is pricey. I usually buy the 2 bigger bottles and another item to get free shipping. That way I can have her amazing sunscreen that is my absolute favorite and ive tried A LOT😂 plus another thing i can try. At first it would have a blue-ish cast and i was freaking out. It would make nʻmy already oily skin super oily BUT.. What i did was change the amount and wait until my other products was dried first. Wash, toner, wait, active, wait, moisture, wait a while then apply sunblock (2 pumps for the face one pump for the neck). No more oily skin or blue-ish cast.
    I mean considering what I paid and how long it took to get here i had to make the best of it and im glad i did. Love her stuff❤

    I’ve wanted to try Dr. V’s sunscreen for awhile, but when I saw that $20+ shipping cost on top of the cost of sunscreen, I will wait till I can afford it. My only concern is the zinc oxide. I have normal-to-dry skin and I tried the Live Tinted Hueguard, which has 18% zinc oxide. It dried my skin out and changed the texture of my skin. I’m wondering if Dr. V’s mineral sunscreen will be moisturizing enough or have the same effect like Hueguard. We shall see when I can afford the shipping. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️
