Looking to add a HR Monitor to my kit and currently reviewing/researching my options. Found this Video very helpful so just wanted to say thank you for the breakdown and comparison between the older Dual and this model here. Appreciate your time and effort making the video!
What is the interaction like on an Apple Watch? Does the watch turn off the built-in monitor and it purely uses the external? Do you choose when starting a workout? Does it switch back over to the integrated one if it dies mid-workout? Does it warn on the battery level if the hrm gets low? Does it show in the health or workout apps that an external device was used for the workout?
I have been using the HRM-Pro Plus for the past few years and even got a brand new spare one because I am so pleased with the model, and because it was on a great offer as well. I find that the straps deteriorate well before the actual HRM but I don't think you can replace the strap on the HRM-Pro Plus, so maybe a good reason to get the HRM 200 in the future. But not until I haved worn out the brand new Pro Plus that I haven't even started using yet 😄
Waiting for Garmin or anyone else to throw in a GPS into the heart rate strap or a watch band so I can use any classic mechanical watch and still get my data.
100% this! Garmin is my 24/7 health and fitness tracker and I love my mechanical watches, but only wear them about a 2 dozen times a year. A heart rate wrist strap with a flashlight would answer all my prayers lol. Only mentioned the flashlight part because since owning a Fenix 7x having a flashlight on my wrist has changed my life.
So are there any other HR straps as good or better then the HRM pro plus? I have a Fenix 7X Pro SS currently but what also connects to newer apple watches? I want to be able to collect the running data that the HRM pro plus collects and connect to the Fenix as well as the AW. Thanks for all the great content.
Not really - arguably the most feature rich on the market. The running metrics on the HRM Pro Plus only get synced to compatible Garmin devices. An Apple Watch can only collect HR from the strap but you can connect to both watches at once.
Do notice any issues caused by getting scratches on optical heart rate sensor? The glass covers seem to get scratched less than the epoxy elevate v4. But thise got scratched all the time and seemed to work fine.
Great video as always. Does Garmin make an arm strap for this new HRM? Can you even use this one or the older Garmin HRMs in your arm instead of your chest? Thanks.
Check the reviews for the Coros HRM. I have been comparing it to the Apple Watch Ultra 1 and Garmin Fenix 7X in my daily workouts for months. It does a very good job. Even for weight training.
Ohhh danke, übersehen. Leider wieder der Haken wie bei allen Gurten. Leider springt der bei mir immer mal wieder in der Aktivität unter der Kleidung auf, sehr nervig.
The only things the H10 have over this are a 5Ghz connection for certain gym equipment and offline HR storage, however the offline storage feature can only be used with Polar Flow.
I had 2 Garmin straps and both stopped working properly after 6 months. I love my watch and bike computer but I will never spend money on their heart rate straps again.
Do you really need the accuracy? No. HR straps started failing on me in only a few months and I just stopped using them. My smart watch is fine, especially if I have the strap snug when I am interested in HR. Syncs great with bike computer just like a strap.
It’s interesting to hear the variety of experiences where some get great accuracy out of a watch and some do not but it also depends on the kinds of activities where accuracy differs.
Shame it's not a rechargeable battery, I switched from a Garmin to Coospro as found once the battery was replaced the Garmin heart rate monitor became unreliable.
Hmm, interesting, same thing happened to me, fairly old garmin chest strap and lately it has become unreliable, i did change the battery recently but im not sure the issues started as soon as i changed it, in fact i changed it many times in the past, maybe some of the new batteries dont give out enough power due to bad quality or something? Or is it possible that chest straps degrade over time? Even though i dont see how, this garmin chest strap is made of hard plastic in the sensor area.

Happy to help. Thanks!
Still love H10
When is the Instinct 3 video coming? 😂😂😂
But good information as always 🤟🏻

Every step you take inspires others: Your video is an everlasting well of motivation! - "Every setback holds a valuable lesson."
Thanks for the review. I tried Garmin before and they all smell. I use the wahoo and have no problems at all. Cheap, accurate and effective
Great review Des!!!
Thanks man!
It's amazing how well the Apple Watch Ultra actually does against the chest straps.
Great review.
its on my list
I can recommend
HR strap: some think it’s “old school”. No, it’s the gold standard!

What about new 900 series forerunner? This week? 😮
Great video. I was wondering if I could wash my HRM Pro. Just got it and it’s already a little stinky lol.
Are the straps interchangeable? Can I use the new strap with the the previous HRM monitor and viceversa?
Just saw Garmins dropped the instinct 3 with a amoled! 😮
How is it in terms of battery usage, secure connection vs. ANT+?
without watching, any ECG support? Either Garmin or 3rd party. Polar H10 does this with 3rd party. ECG recordings.
Thank you good job , what strap ca i use with Apple Watch, can you make a video?
HR straps that have Bluetooth (which are basically any current strap)
Waiting for Garmin or anyone else to throw in a GPS into the heart rate strap or a watch band so I can use any classic mechanical watch and still get my data.

what is difference between this and the pro plus?
I just got a new Polar H10 today...
Should've waited one more day😭😭😭
Just return
H10 is excellent, you did good
Keep. H10 is the gold standard.
Difference between this and the pro + i currently use?

Nice review ! Thank you ! Just wanna know, what kind of activity you use when you do weightlifting? Cardio or Weightlifting? Thank you !
If you want to track HR and calories, the cardio profile works just fine. If you want rep counting the strength training is the way to go. Thanks!
@@DesFit Alright, so it's what I'm already doing, just wanna be sure I'm not missing something haha, thanks :)

I haven’t noticed but I also don’t generally have scratches on the sensor

No arm strap unfortunately. Would love to see that from Garmin.
H10 for me

Also, do you think it’s worth the upgrade if I have an HRM Pro?
Not really unless you want easier battery replacement or the secure connection type. The HRM Pro is more feature rich.
@ Thank you!
I’ve been using an HRM Pro +. I feel that’s still a better device than this? Perhaps a group test with the best of the old against the new one 🤷🏾♂️
Yes, that's a higher end device. Accuracy will be the same, it's just the additional features that differ.
So would you choose it over Polar H10?
The only things the H10 have over this are a 5Ghz connection for certain gym equipment and offline HR storage, however the offline storage feature can only be used with Polar Flow.
I love the H10. Even simpler to change the battery.
@@DesFit actually Polar Beat - so there is need for two apps, that sucks, yes.
Sorry, yes. Polar Beat. Appreciate the correction. 👍
Hrm pro plus is like $70 now, so not sure if there’s a need for anything else 😅
since you specifically only state APPLE (iPhone, iPad, etc. ) connectivity, does that mean it is not Android compatible?
Any device that support Bluetooth or ANT+, regardless of manufacturer
I had 2 Garmin straps and both stopped working properly after 6 months. I love my watch and bike computer but I will never spend money on their heart rate straps again.
Totally agree with you. Had the same issues with 3 garmin straps. Never going back. Been using the H10 and it has been flawless.
Do you also expect a new version of HRM Pro Plus this year?

Final Final V2 😉
Still running cheap magene sensor from aliexpress. It was less than 10$ 😂 Of course it can only read HR, but thats all Ineed

Blown away by Apple Watch Ultra performance tbf
Let's talk about battery life

@profchaos9001 I read it was a known issue, I got a rechargeable Coospro one instead and it's been fine
