      @@SPOOLINUP I just got a 1.8t 180bhp - its slightly battered but came with a miltek staggered stainless exhaust, high flow cat and stainless down pipe and a forge diverter...i plan on doing a lot of things you have done to yours, but i have realized that its costs money which you will never get back, but there is no point cheaping out on this kind of thing as its gotta be what you want, or there is not point to it.......plan on stage 2, it looks like a lot of fun

      Sweet mate so you have the AUQ engine code then I assume your car is a 6 speed as well? My plan was to buy a banger and get second hand parts to build a cheap car for a laugh. Sounds like your car already has some good bits on it. Buy second hand parts, it will save you the money as they are cheap and readily available. A lot of people break cars and you could buy yourself a few bits. In the end once you have had fun with it for a bit, if you decide to sell you would have barely lost anything. You sound excited, stage 2 has been fun mate, it's been two months and I still enjoy it a lot.

      @@SPOOLINUP Yeah AUQ and 6 speed, funny enough i have been on ebay looking at people who are breaking modded MK4's, found a full set of adjustable coil overs for £120 and a front mount intercooler + install kit for £140 so your bang on there, BTW your car looks awesome mate

    Been following for a while now mate. Probably, stupidly bought a rusty one for 400 notes last year and have been using some of your vids to bring her back to life. Hopefully one day she looks and goes as good as this. Your engine bay delete vid was invaluable last week. Glad you finally got there, Well done mate! #savethemk4

It was a good idea to buy it and im sure you are having fun and that's what matters. £400 is a steal as well! These will go up in value I am sure. Make sure with your EVAP delete that you don't block it in the engine bay like I did, if you have then take the cap off and let it vent to atmosphere. Good luck #savethemk4

    Love these uploads mate. I have 1999 gti with the AEB engine code unfortunately not as much can be done due to the throttle cable think it was about 2001 that they removed that. I have added the same airfilter as your one. But gave problems with the mass sensor due to heat. ☹️☹️☹️☹️. Such a lovely car to drive daily even though just a 5 speed manual. Would love to have more than the stock 150bhp. Even though after 23 years I can't see it being that much any more 🤣🤣🤣

      @SPOOLINUP  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris, thanks for you comment man I appreciate it. Sorry to hear you had the problems after installing the Ram Air, did you still have problems even with the heat shield? What about if you use the air box and just have a performance panel filter? I know there is a conversion that you could do if wanted for the throttle. I'm glad you still love the car though and there are some cool mods you can still do. Good luck either way brother

      @@SPOOLINUP no thank you for getting back to me mate. So basically I lost all power about 400 miles into installing it. The position of the sensor is different to the post non cable throttle ones. And it literally burnt out the sensor. My friend sorted it for me I'll find out what the part was that went and post it up for you. For anyone else that has similar problem. U was tempted with a range 1 remap by revo it brings it up to 180bhp. But to be honest the old girl has done 130k and personally I'm a bit worried incase the extra power causes other problems with the engin due to age etc .. I think I'm gonna go down the route of spending a bit of money on the look. On the hunt for a nice second hand set of alloys love the fat 5 on the Audi's but not sure if the fitment is the same and some spacers and lowering slightly. Was watching the other vids with the water leak I had one on rear drivers side top of the door thought it may been from sunroof but was the seal around door luckily

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand, that's a bit frustrating but it doesn't matter as you can still enjoy the car. You don't need a Ram Air induction kit to have fun.
      A lot of Mk4 GTIs have high mileage and I see people getting them mapped all the time but never see what happens a few hundred miles in. I do however know that these engines are strong if looked after. 180bhp would be sweet mate, you can have a health check on your engine if you are ever tempted and then go for it.
      Those Audi alloys are cool, I like them too and the RS6 C5 alloys are nice I think they are a little wider but not sure.
      I was so frustrated with my water leak in the car but so happy to sort it in the end. I'm glad you found yours too

      Mines on 189k now and still spot on, these are actually really reliable once you replace the age related items and service regularly. Mines 2003 Revo stage 1 pushing just over 200 but pulls hard on boost. Still feels fast even after being in my tuned to the gills 2000 Impreza

    • @SPOOLINUP

      They really are great cars, mine has never once let me down. As long as they are kept well and maintained, they still look great too. I'm impressed that yours is still spot on but I'm not surprised, mine should keep going as long as I continue to take care of it. Your car sounds nice, what is the spec? Colour etc? Also what mods have you done?

    • @chrisjohnson3906
      @chrisjohnson3906 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @*SPOOLIN UP* 100% aslong as taken care of not driven hard from cold and serviced regularly etc the 1.8t is super reliable. Mines black, unfortunately 5 door but good spec heated leathers air con climate control cruise control etc. I've kept it generally OEM+ just with k&n inside the air box, stage 1 revo map, MEYLE shocks, lowered on H&Rs, brembo grooved discs and pads. Just done all the brake lines copper nickel in the last year along with braided hoses. Wouldn't mind a lower mileage 3 door one to hang onto tho

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good news then, I always let my car warm up and have services annually. I trust this car a lot. To be honest I trust it more since it's been modified. Mate, the fact that it is 5 door in my opinion is as cool as 3 door, they both offer different things and serve their purpose. I've never cared about the number of doors. Your car is a much better spec than mine as well, a high spec MK4 is lovely . That's good, mate. OEM+ is cool to me, if I had an anniversary, I would have to go OEM+ with most mods hidden or subtle.

    Nice man! Sounds like you're very pleased with the result :D
    The pops and bangs are a bit excessive for my personal preference but good stuff. Judging from your explanation it was mapped driving on the road, so no proper power figure?
    Not that it really matters much, just curious how much you managed to get out of all the mods.
    Something I see every time, when people get it mapped, is they say the difference is absolute night and day.. this makes me excited for the future of my Leon haha.

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I am very pleased indeed as I've waited a long time. Luckily if you want a quiet drive you can still have one.
      So the car was mapped on the road, a power figure can be calculated roughly based on a reading taken from the MAF but when we went to do it someone pulled out on me and almost killed us. I will be going to a dyno day soon.
      I too heard about how different the car is, its like it has finally woken up. As soon as I get a chance I will get a dyno done and a video. You should be excited for the Leon!! Epic

    For having a dub yiu automatically get a like. That said for anyone who looks at performance and have a vw/audi 1.8t save yourself.obey and skip the wasteful CAI. You will gain virtually nothing but extra whizz noises and a lighter pocket. Does it help spooling your turbo faster sure but how fast do you think your little turbo needs to spool eh. Because you're a roos the pond I'm not familiar with all the laws but if you're going to do a 3" DP might as well do it right with the accompanying full 3" mandrel bend cat back system. Our cars respond very well to a nice tune of 18-20psi and all the supporting mods to keep it reliable. No silly blowoff valves that lose power or unnecessary boost controllers because you think you have a Subaru or a Honda.

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man I appreciate the like from you. I know these cars aren't performance cars but you can get a nice little thrill from time to time if you drive them on the right roads. As for my car I bought what I could second hand to save money, which is a great way to do it. No point in spending thousands on all brand new parts unless you want a show car. The car has a great map on it now and she's flying compared to before. I'm surprised the car has the legs to do what it does. These old VAGs are cheap in the UK.

      @SPOOLINUP  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, hope you are well. Sorry to hear about the accident but I'm glad you are happy with the car 👍🏽. I would say that the first thing you need to do before any tuning is make sure the car is mechanically solid. Fix any oil leaks, water leaks, vacuum leaks and get it running really nice. If I was to start again I would get the engine bay deletes done first like the EVAP, SAI, N249 and fit a catch can to the PCV system. Not only will this future proof your car for potential vacuum leaks but it frees up so much space in the engine bay, it looks miles better and gives you much more room to install your future mods. Then I would fit a Ram Air induction kit and oversized turbo inlet pipe to start. Good luck with the repairs 🙏🏾

      Sounds cool man. I would say to make sure the car is running well first and fix anything that needs to be fixed. If it needs a service then get it done as well because you need to start from a good base. Then I would say to get a nice induction kit first, they sound great. Ram Air make a pretty good inexpensive one. I do have Instagram @nazspoolinup 👊🏾

    At 52 i own a 3dr indigo blue for 8yrs.. With stage 1.5😏(need fmic) with a little over run added giving 230bhp .. Love ya car🤜🏽very tidy. My understanding is too much pops n bangs not very good for engine? Unless upgraded rods, engine forged etc. Ya see people saying with standard rods 280..then some saying less, what figures you getting with stage 2?

      Hi mate, that's wicked man. You have had that car for some time now then. If you want an intercooler I would recommend the Airtec man its very good. Yes people say a lot about pops and bangs but some people have very aggressive pops and bangs whereas mine aren't that aggressive. I don't know what kind of power to be honest I need to get it on a dyno but I think it will be similar power to your car.

      @SPOOLINUP  ปีที่แล้ว

      I will be going to the dyno maybe next month to get exact figures but based on the average of most MK4 stage 2 cars I would say 230bhp - 240bhp.

  • @ManweruEmanuilov
    @ManweruEmanuilov 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looks real nice. I'm just wondering how the car handles all that power. Mine isn't stage 2 yet and I have good tires, lowering springs, poly dog bone bushings (really helped with wheel hop), plus an Audi S3 upper front brace, which also helps a bit with handling, yet sometimes I really feel like I can't utilize all the power I have. Can't imagine what it will be like at stage 2.

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate. Well the car is on coilovers set quite low, Audi TT ARB and aftermarket links which aren't special, the dog bone has poly bushes too, tyres aren't special but the car doesn't handle too badly. When you say you can't utilise the power what are you referring to? Wheelspin?, corner speeds?, understeer?

    • @ManweruEmanuilov
      @ManweruEmanuilov 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SPOOLINUP Wheelspin yeah and just needing to be conservative with your speed in and out of corners. Getting the impression that these cars don't need that much power, or maybe I just can't drive idk. I was looking into some front and rear ARB kits, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea on a car I daily a good amount. Not sure if you've considered an ARB kit with thicker bars.

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure to be honest as I don't really push my car that hard a lot as im in a built up area. I've got plenty of grip though in and out of corners and the car doesn't spin that much when it is dry. I have thought about a rear ARB kit and perfecting the suspension setup I have, I will do it soon. Maybe you have a lead foot in and out of corners, maybe back off the throttle a little 😉

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can get a map without any upgrades because these cars aren't tuned very highly out of the factory. You would be very limited though and would probably need coils as a minimum and maybe a fuel pump. If it's something you would like to do then you could speak to a tuner like Tuning Technics and see what he says/recommends.

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man, to be honest I am not 100% sure. If you get a nice completely standard car that has high mileage but has been looked after and serviced you could just do the engine bay deletes to get rid of some of the old hoses and pipes that may split or already be split. I think you could end up with a nice car. I wouldn't buy a modified one with higher mileage but that's just me. I see Tuning Technics mapping cars with high mileage, these cars are old now. Just don't rush if you want to buy one!!!
