Eric Burdon & The (original) Animals 1980 reunion Please Send Me Someone To Love

  • There was another clip of this on TH-cam a few years back, different take from the same session, but it seems to have disappeared. Quality of this is not so good, VHS copy from 1980 Beta tape, plus TV aerial reception dodgy in the first place, but what a great performance - especially from Eric & Pricey! :)

      amen no better yet he didn't get the respect he truly deserved at all, that group knocked them all out of the ballpark in my opinion even the keyboard was crazy.

    That's what made the worth of The Animals: real archaic northern British rhythm & blues with its greatest singer and organ player as well. Outstanding and terrific performance!

    What an under-rated album - Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted. Fire on the Sun is my favourite track.
    My elder brother bought his first turntable (an Amstrad music system) and borrowed this album and Ian Dury - New Boots and Panties from the record library. Both brilliant albums. And the sound quality blew me away as it was in stereo, and so much better than the previous albums that we had listened to on cassettes. (When I started work I treated myself to a LInn Axis which might be a couple of rungs up the audiophile ladder from Amstrad).
    I have a very soft spot for those two albums.

    The definition of tragedy: when Eric came on the scene in 1964, I was too young for him at age 10. By the time I was 21 and could have done him quite nicely, he was already married. Sigh....

    What was Price’s problem with Eric? Was he simply freaking jealous? Both guys were super talented in their own way.

      Alan was credited for the Animals arrangement of House of The Rising Sun but did not share the royalties with the rest of the band and the others especially Eric, despised Alan and couldn't stand him anymore.
      Eric still hates Alan till this day.

    • @oldrvr
      @oldrvr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Price was selfish not to have shared. It might have been his arrangement, but it took all of them to create that great song, and it was a definite bonus to have Eric’s great voice on the record!

    • @elenitasouli8737
      @elenitasouli8737 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Eric said in the interview he gave in Greece 2019, that he has bad memories from the period with animals, mostly because of the betrayal of one member of them, who stole all the royalties from the band. And that is so sad to hear it after a half of century of life on stage. And it is even more sad to know, that one little action like this, can ruin all the good memories and moments of a whole period.

    • @bethh.9647
      @bethh.9647 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It had to be sheer jealousy, envy by Price. The lead singer gets the majority of attention and Eric certainly had the charisma along with his powerful voice and good looks that were beautiful and at telhe same time kind of earthy - a combination most women love. So Price running off with the money was his own selfishness. He also ripped off the others in the band so he clearly didn't give a darn about the group. Unfortunate indeed because he was s fantastic keyboardist! Having said all that, love Eric and these videos are so wonderful!

    This isn't from 1980, but 1975/76 when The Animals got back together for the first time since the 60's and recorded the album Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted. It wasn't released until 1977, though, and "drowned in the punk explosion" (as I read somewhere).

      The original Animals reunited for the first time on December 2nd, 1968, at the Newcastle City Hall. The one-off show was an idea of Ray Grehen, one of The Animals' manager, Mike Jeffery's club managers.

    They were done with price when he refused to share royalties he gets for house of the rising sun which their producer wrongly gave him complete credit
