No shame in losing out to Jim. That level is unbeatable.
I love listening to Spade talk about stuff. He doesn't try to play things down or make himself look good. He's just frank and very witty.
I think the reason I love hearing David Spade's stories is because they almost come from the perspective of someone who isn't famous. It's like hes one of us and he's going to Oscar parties and hanging out with rich people or w/e. I dont know if he'd have the same edge had he became like Sandler or Carey.
I totally agree
David Spade and Jim Carrey are legends. Grateful to have been able to watch them growing up.
Oh we laughed.... Spade's delivery is just amazing lol
Credit is given like a CHAMP.... Good stuff Mr. SPADE 😎👍🏻
Good thing Jim got that part. I couldn't picture In Living Color with Spade.
sandler and carrey both did go back to back to back with the mega hits
The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura 1 & 2, The Cable Guy, Liar Liar, The Truman Show, Man on the Moon vs. Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer, Big Daddy
Great to see you guys back Live!!
God bless , Howard Stern, and David spade this is legendary awesome.
Saw spade one time at a small mex, restraint next to a used clothing store in Tempe, I was floored, had to say hi, like your stuff...
But it was so surreal, you think these guys would never be that down to earth, I don’t mean his height....
I need that hat!!! I like that Spade wore the hat for the interview. Fuck yes!
David Spade was great on "Just Shoot Me". I really enjoyed that show. And who will ever forget Joe Dirt? His appearance in Bhad Bhabie's "Gucci Flipflops" was HILARIOUS, proving he still has it.
And the original voice of Emperor Kuzco
TacShooter crazy how you mentioned bad baby before Tommy Boy or Black Sheep
@@kmatt420 I haven't seen either of those, so that would explain it.
TacShooter
Jesus. Find Tommy Boy ASAP. It’s a classic. That is what really ignited him and Chris Farley after SNL.
Carrey's the Supernova. Spade more the undercover long-termer.
I had to put my glasses on, I thought his hat said “Subway Eat Fresh” 😂
Ezekiel Vargas lol I love Spade, but that's exactly the vibe the color and font that the hat's giving off.
🤣 I know , right?
Thought the same thing at first 🥴
love Jim.....and start career in movies , AS THE LEAD, after getting some fame from a tv show, ..spade mentions that no one had a start like jim...forgetting the Murphy started with 48 hours, Trading places and beverly hills cop (and remember I said lead, Dudley moore was the lead)
I thought that originally In Living Color was supposed to not have any white cast members, but Damon Wayans brought Jim Carrey onboard because they had made the movie "Earth Girls are Easy" together and Wayans told his brother Keenan that Carrey was the funniest guy he'd ever seen, or something like that. I didn't think there was any auditioning involved. You learn something new every day.
spade has his own lane and he plays it humble but hes also so good, the In Living Color spot was tailor made for a guy like Jim though (not that theres anybody like jim but dana mentions carvey as a possibility lol)
spade legend
jim carrey legend
I think Jim would've turned out fine had he booked SNL bc he was still known as "The White guy on In Living Color" up until Ace Ventura.
David Spade would most likely have a larger mountain to climb had he booked In Living Color bc he wouldn't have teamed up with Chris Farley for Tommy Boy and Black Sheep, and he wouldn't get to know Adam Sandler who's executive produced some of David Spade's works and puts him into his own films.
kawaiiafangirl it was the the perfect fit for both of them. SNL in that era was subtle tongue cheek humor. In living color was over the top loud sketches which is what Carrey did best ..... Carrey weirds me the f out nowadays
Nevin Caulfield stds can make that happen I’m just guessing I really liked him growing up my favorite childhood actor. I don’t know what happened
David Spade would've been the white Chris Rock on In Living Color.
@@nevincaulfield yup Spade is normal and Jim is off the rails
Love both of these guys but Carey was 100% the right choice for In Living Color.
Skit shows like In Living Color aren’t really Spades type of humor. His stand up is dry but hilarious, and his classic characters (Tommy Boy) are just a “goofier” more sarcastic version of his real life persona. It wouldn’t have worked at all. Jim Carrey is goofy, great at improv and very animated! Perfect for a skit show!
I would still like to see Jim and Adam Sandler talk to eachother!! Never have seen it and would love too !!
Jim carry was great on in living color..fire Marshall Bill!
Love mr spade
Jim Carrey was on Letternan and Carsen back in the early 80s so he wasn’t exactly a nobody
Starred in a short-lived series, too called "The Duck Factory."
I remember seeing Jim Carrey on TV in Canada before he was on Living Color. The act had a lot of elements we would come to see on the screen. Even as a kid, I could tell this guy wasn't going to be on Evening at the Improv for long.
He was in movies too. Already successful
Eddie Murphy's run in the 80's run can rival Jim Carrey's run in the 90's.
I agree 100%! Personally, I enjoy Eddie Murphy's comedy more than I do Jim's. I got into Jim's acting when I saw him in more serious roles. But hey, everyone has their own style and they're both amazing. Now I have to go watch Coming to America LOL
@@manichispanic5234 Eddie and Jim are my two favorite comedians. Jim's great run in the 90s is more congested, while Eddie's was with more time between the movies. But that is just about how the studios rolled out the movies differently each decade.
Manic Hispanic I couldn’t chose. I grew up watching both. Coming to America, 48 hours, Life, etc are all hilarious.
spade, lov u xojodia, grays mom u2 howard, robin, fred!
David Spade is funny as shit. All you people who are shitting on him need to watch his show. He's a very talented comedian.
This is Howies Niche. Stay with it
There should be a movie with Adam Sandler Jim Carrey and also Marky Mark Walhburg
No wonder the groove emperor looked bored when he interviewed Jim Carrey about the new Sonic The Hedgehog movie on Comedy Central.
is this video shot on film
Yeah good call for in living color...they both ended up where they were supposed to.
In reference to the run that Carrey/Sandler had I have two words for you Spade; Eddie Murphy.
The 90s had so many shows with mainly black casts, and it never felt forced or out of place. Bring those back, not out of hatred for white people, but out of love for black folks and for everyone.
Yeah they already had too many side kicks. He's a lead for sure
Wow
...Thank god.
The right man got the part.
#EPIC-)
Xoxoxo
But Spade made SNL Carrey didnt
Never seen a run of comedic movie hits like Carrey, maybe Sandler? Pffft, what?! So Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, Robin Williams didn't exist? Chevy Chase's run of movies in the '80s still hold up. Dan Akroyd too. Gene Wilder '70s flicks are all time comedy classics. Sandler not even in same ballpark. Carrey dominated the 90s and always is funny in interviews, but hasn't made a funny movie in 20 years.
Spade should straighten that cap, tighten it at the back and give that bill a bend in the middle.
lol
If you havent seen the Lights Out episode where Michael Rappaport praises Spade as being a Hollywood stick-man, you're missing some funny stuff.
Spade lost because he's a comedian,Carey's an actor.his last name didn't help either I imagine
Yeah Jim got In Living Color but was turned down by SNL. With Spade it was the other way around so, could say Spade got the better deal cuz SNL is an institution, In Living Color, not so much
David spade is more naturally funnier than jim Carrey
No way
Tough night Spade?
David spade doesnt come close to the level of comedy that jim provides. He is a diff comic
