Great podcast Neal. And GG to DAG. Chocolate News, Black Daddy, was fantastic. "thats why I get the big piece of chicken. And, I dont like steak"
Imagine what Jim Carrey and Mel Blanc could have done together if they had been able to work together 😂😂 people would have literally died from laughter!
DAG’s movie bio is a list of flops
Jumanji was a hit.
@@doughbafett yes, it’s on the list….of flops.
You really don’t like this guy do you?
You're so sensitive. He's one of the most underrated comedians and actors. Just cause you like trump and his ear doesn't mean dag is bad 😂😂
Tales from the Hood is a Pop Culture Classic
Excuse me...... you're ball's are showing 😂😂
Bumblebee tuna
A lot is being said about Jim’s energy but he was simply a manic comic genius. There were so many amazing bits in Ace Ventura that were just his and hilarious.
David Alan Grier pretending like he doesn't know who Rob Schneider is lmfao.
nah, he knows who he is...'the conservative guy from snl'...that's who he is.
@@michaelhymson8074 he is NOW but that's not he was for most of his career. DAG was once a pretty great comedian, and like RS, he turned hyper partisan in the last 10 years. SAG is a race absolutist at this point.
I noticed that too. I was wondering how he’d feel about his, “men on film” skit today.
Rob isn't that great of a physical comedy actor, he just likes dressing in costumes Eddie Murphy like acting. The faces, the hip thrusting, the noises Jim Carrey makes don't fit Rob, tbh David Grier would've been better than Rob Schneider. Chris Farley might've been another ok choice, but nobody could do it like Jim.
David Alan Grier knows a million celebs and he’s not friends with Rob so why would you think he’d know his name off the top of his head? He didn’t know Courtney Cox’s name either. So was he pretending then too? I’ve seen him tell the story on other platforms and he doesn’t remember Rob or Courtney in those stories.
would you like to hear it, here it goes!
fatback! welp i gotta go rewatch that again right effing now
Thank goodness the rest of us didn't have the taste of David or Chris that night!
I just watched Ace Ventura again last week....
IT'S DAMN FUNNY!!!😂
He did "In The Army Now" with Pauly Shore the same year.
I see why he miscalculated the success of Ace Ventura.
The scene where Ace figures out that Einhorn is a man still has me dying to this day. The plunger to the face and him crying in the shower naked is one of the funniest scenes i have ever seen.
5:01 "We've built back since then." 🤣😆🤣
My dad took me to see Ace Ventura in theaters. I thought it was going to be so dumb. I was crying laughing from rhe opening scene.
I was in high school when Ace Ventura was in theatres. I remember the buzz at school from those who had seen the movie. They tried to describe what they saw and it sounded so crazy, but they all said it was super funny. So, by the end of the week pretty much everyone in school had seen it.
David said Jerry Seinfeld bill cannot act.his way out of a paper bag. This is missing his experience auditioning with jerry seinfeld. When in living color was on its way out , he got contacted by the producers of seinfeld , which hadn't Become a full time series yet. He wishes told that Jerry and Larry.David had written another neighbor for jerry , who is also crazy like the rest. He said.
During the audition , jerry was the worst he had ever seen in his life. While david would say his lines to jerry,he would just look at david with his lips moving because he was mouthing the words of the next line he is supposed to say. He said he had seen people.Take it acting classes during their first hour of the class were already better than Jerr.
Y. And jerry already had a quite a few Small Parts. He called his agent and said I know they say they want a hire me really bad but I just can't do it. He told the agent. The show is going to bomb so bad it's gonna be unbelievable. You said it would ruin his career if the agent got this role for him to please please to Turn it down.
My Uncle's family came over once and brought Ace Ventura on VHS and was like "We have to watch this!" He practically made us carve out a portion of the afternoon just to watch it and it was the funniest f'ing movie I had ever seen. I was probably 12 at the time, but we went out and bought a copyand wore the VCR out. Still quote that movie incessantly all these years later.
David Alan Grier was one of the Best things on In Living Color .......had that natural hilarious quality
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was the funniest movie I had ever seen. I was dying from laughter! His humor was so new. That film is a gift to the world.
I wouldn’t take script advice from the same guy that took that Magical Negroes role. Lmao.
😅
Me and my friends went to see Ace Ventura in middle school and the theater was laughing non stop
LUH-HOO-ZUH-HRRRRR 😂 that’s what I remember most from a movie I watched 30 years ago 😂 thanks, Canadian Jim
DAG on Loveline should have won awards. Some of the funniest content ever.
David Allen Grier is a wonderful talent, and makes for a great comedy writer.
The fact that he misunderstood Ace Ventura's appeal says something precient.
Both Ace Ventura movies are classic.
Whatever I say, go the other fucking way!"
"There's NOT a scorpion on your back"
"Thats a lovely dog you have there sir, may I pet him?"
DAG looking like a old man in the south sitting on his porch and offering you some lemonade .
I skipped school just to watch Ace Ventura for the first time when it came out on VHS.
This is an extraordinary actor, comedian, singer, dancer, Ivy league guy. I am a huge fan. He is soooooo underrated. He not only has lots of latent and charisma but he is teally funny.
Colon man would have been an amazing movie! 😂😂😂😂😂
As a kid and fan of in Living Color Jim was a unique talent with extremely popular characters so we were jacked to learn he was coming out with a movie. In hindsight it was perfect timing with the perfect character and a no brainer it was going to blow.
I absolutely LOVE David Alan Grier. He's one of the great ones.
Just have to say....David Alan Grier is dressed exactly like my grandpa. David - can I lay in a hammock with you in the shade while you peel and slice apples for me and tell me about the good ol days?
DAG is truly one of the best guests in podcasting
David Allan Grier is the most underrated and under appreciated comedian of all time. Dude just elevates everything he’s in.
Truly a funny dude.
This movie was my childhood on vhs we watched so many times 😂
You gotta understand… to the black kids my age Jim is a legend.. we seen him coming from in living color we just wanted the best for him… we knew his talent the black community used to watch this everyday.
😂 one of if not the greatest comedy ever made I laugh so hard it hurts even after all these years
As a teenager, me and all my friends loved In Living Color and had zero doubt Ace Ventura would be a huge hit. Of course, we were equally sure that Blankman would be a huge hit...
Blankman was ahead of its time. A superhero parody before superhero movies were really a thing. Had it come out anytime right after the X-Men franchise first started blowing up, I think it would have been a huge hit.
@@NoneofYourBusiness667Blankman was a terrible movie. Which makes me sad because I wasn’t expecting it to be terrible… I knew it was gonna be a dumb comedy but I wasn’t expecting it to be legit bad
I completely understand, I felt that way about Wu-Tang Clan.
It could have just as easily gone left.
This guy talking about flops 😂
someone took it personal lol!
Someone with that pfp shouldn't be talking. You sensitive asfff took it to heart huh😂😂
I think he’s self aware
Seems like the type
WHY THE FUCK DID COLON MAN NEVER BECOME AN IN LOVING COLOR SKETCH!!??
damn now i need to see the full episode, great story.
If David is going for the old moonshiner look he nailed it.
Grier could NEVER do Ace. No way in hell. Jim was the only man to do it
David Alan Grier pretending to not know Rob Schneider or Courtney Cox names was the funniest part of this.
Why I forget my kids name sometimes while talking to them lol
Biden forgets that his son Beau didn't die in Iraq all the time
DAG just acted in the biggest flop of his career (which is a feat no one thought he could top)
Well go Shine Trump's shoes MFer
David Alan Grier is fucking hilarious! One of my favorite bits from him is his role in the show Martin.
Blank Man is one of my favorite movies of all time
OMG! That movie was horrible!
And the sad thing is I wasn’t expecting it to be horrible
Blank man should have been handicap man instead from in living color
Damn, he disrespected Rob like a mfer. That was out of pocket.
true. Rob has been right about all of his stances too.
@@monkeyb1820 Facts. DAG is a staunch Liberal so he tried to play him and act like he couldn't remember who he was. Rob's actually been the lead in his own movies. DAG has been a supporting guy his entire career. The audacity....
@@CinqueMalcolm people like DAG are why I barely watch any current 'entertainment'--these hollyweird elites like him who are so incredibly out of touch with the values (much less the *rights* ) of regular people. I have some rich Cali relatives that are like this too. They're all on the plantation, so stupid that they think that Newsome was trying to save their lives with his idiotic nazi 'pandemic' policies...
Rob's a joke thats never funny now in 5he cult. DAG great book on Obama actually too smart for kids comedy we've been subjected to although Carrey pulls it off. Ain't no Marx Bros!
@@lreylaYour comment is a mess.
one of the best slapstickies ever
Fast forward 30 years and David Alan Grier is making movies like The Society of Magical Knee-grows.
David Allan Grier is one of the funniest actors out here. Underrated
