Lol, the struggle for y’all in the US is real, but I’m seeing in the comments that there are spots to try, so hopefully you find one or I discover a few while I’m visiting
Am in DC, best thing to trini doubles is from a food truck...Trini Vybez. If you see them try them there. They always sell out, go early. See their reviews about their doubles.
will do, although I had doubles from Trinciti already in Queens I think, back in 2017 and that was pretty good...but will definitely try Singh's when I get up on that side
I remember going new york and trying food it dont taste the same the seasoning and everything just taste different not saying the people them not making it good its just on the outside things taste different
I prefer the old school doubles. Just my liking. Just give me the "sandwich" so I can eat on the go. The art of Doubles has evolved over the decades from the days when we use to buy em for 10 cents
As a trini living in South Florida for many years I realized most of the roti shops down here only give you whatever meat of choice, huge chunks of potatoes and channa. No curry mango, bodie, pumpkin etc.
Great video bro, was there by joy over the easter holidays, yes that $2.50US hutt meh to spend knowing i does complain paying 6tt for one, to be honest joys doubles tasted way better than i thought a foreign doubles would taste and for sure way better than probably half of tt doubles sellers, just my opinion, tried the chicken roti as well and i hate my meat sooo soft like how you said you like yours falling off the bone so that was my downfall with the roti there, anyhow enjoy your trip and br safe.
Hi bro...I've had doubles & roti in New York & London...the roti in London was pretty good, but the curry was horrible lol...it was interesting in New York, but not really that good...
Whoaa bro, nice, I tried doubles at Trinciti in NY already in Liberty and that was the closest thing to a good trini doubles, but that was 5 years ago, hopefully I’ll be able to go doubles hopping in NY sometime soon
I’m really looking forward to Tabanka next time I visit and yeah it was unfortunate I didn’t know about it till the comments on this video, it would have probably save me from the disappointment of the other 2 spots, lol
Great vid, but I agree with @Drifter tt, you can't really compare prices like that between TT and US $$, remember min wage...it's $15 in DC, not sure about Miami, but that would be about $105TT, no? I DO agree that the US roti shops should take some pride and not disrespect trinbago food just because most americans don't know it.
Yeah it’s approx $102-105 TTd to $15 USD and I agree they should take some pride in what they dish out instead of being subpar…as for the price comparison, sometimes it’s needed so we don’t take for granted what we have at home…but regardless it all boils down to taste
@@TrinbagoVibes Definitely agree, i don't see any roti here like the softness of that Mona's roti, it looks like it will melt in your mouth, don't even have to chew!!!!
@@AtIslander yup and I was looking for something close to that, well I heard there is a place called Tabanka to check out next time I’m Florida side and hopefully later this year I’ll do some doubles hopping in New York
Not being harsh but America food has nothing compare to the Caribbean in flavour, i ate some stuff over there and its just bad, there say it taste good but there haven't tasted good yet, not even average, Caribbean people love ground seasoned food, not just salt, blackpepper and power
Lawwwd stop mentioning the prices in the states the doubles cabal will set price like opec 😂. I think a good bit of the Caribbean spots in the states don’t compare to food back in the islands but people patron them because it’s a reminder of home for those who moved to the states.
Vibes you have experienced the high cost of local cuisine abroad which leaves a lot to be desired, In the UK you can pay £2 to £3 for a doubles in an ordinary food shop. When you go to a restaurant prices go up, there is a restaurant chain Turtle Beach which a doubles set you back £5. Quality is not there. Roti here can cost £12 and again poor quality.
@ Rajeev gotta say this if yuh want d rel ting next time come to Queens / lefferts /// Joys n other spots in Mia is overated n BTW never do the forex it does not help
Lol, ihu Ricky but gotta do it to make me appreciate what we have here and may even take for granted even more…planning a trip to Queens sometime in the future, will vibes you whenever I get up on that side
To have good Trinidadian food, you must have it in T&T. I live in central Florida now and the food is embarrassing. Every roti shop I've been to is soo stingy with their sauce if you even get any. Bunch of dry doubles. I bought 25 doubles 2 weekends ago and told them we want everything in it. We got home and all the doubles dry like crix crackers. Not a drop of tamarind sauce, pepper sauce. And yes, it was $3 per doubles. US $75 in doubles and can't even get some pepper sauce. smh
That’s rel sad, to buy so much doubles and they sticking with the sauce, smh… so far nothing can come close to home, but I heard Tabanka is good and I remembered trying a doubles at Trinciti roti shop in Liberty NY back in 17 and it was pretty good
ROFL You got your money's worth of flour and salt. The Roti shops are maximizing profit by making thick barra or roti with less filling, and making it look like you are getting volume for the price. The first roti didn't look like it had much filling. The amount you spent on the four items paid for several bags of flour, which yielded a lot of barra and roti. Also, they are factoring in the overhead...rent and salaries. Next time you come to America, you could comparison shop grocery items.

You have to come to Georgia at tassa roti shop and see Samuel Jackson and lots of movie stars stop in for they Trinidad fix
Whoaaa, hopefully one day…the next trip I’m schedule for is Chicago and NY
Roti here to is a lot 14 dollars for one crazy nice vibes Toronto Trini
And that’s Canadian, but how does it taste?
Next trip try Singh’s roti shop in New York
will do, although I had doubles from Trinciti already in Queens I think, back in 2017 and that was pretty good...but will definitely try Singh's when I get up on that side
@@TrinbagoVibes Nice
Wow them roti real expensive boy, that's why we have to appreciate our roti at home in Trinidad and Tobago.
Yup, can’t take home for granted…but at the same time, it should at least be tasting close to home
Thanks gor showing us , expensive in the US boy😯
Yup….and the taste don’t even match up 😢
I remember going new york and trying food it dont taste the same the seasoning and everything just taste different not saying the people them not making it good its just on the outside things taste different
Yup, although the second time I tried a doubles at a place called Trinciti in Liberty and their doubles was pretty good and almost close to a sauce
Oh Rajeeve....honestly no food places can compare to the real thing.
Agree with you the council does 😁
I prefer the old school doubles.
So I’ve realized, although a few peeps commented that I’ve to try Singh’s or Trini Tabanka next time I’m visiting
@@TrinbagoVibes Tabanka in my opinion is #1 in comparison.
@@Aissshaaa nice to hear 😁
can you find bodie here? or seime? but mango and pumpkin are so easy to find, that is ridiculous they can't provide them.
Mona's is the best. Also, try Lilly's in Fyzabad and Delia's in Point Fortin.
Lilly’s is the one close to the junction in Fyzo? Will definitely check out Delia’s in point one of these days
@@TrinbagoVibes Sorry typo...Celia's in Point Fortin.
@@CaribbeanLife101 will make the correction one time in my notes, lol
Great video bro, was there by joy over the easter holidays, yes that $2.50US hutt meh to spend knowing i does complain paying 6tt for one, to be honest joys doubles tasted way better than i thought a foreign doubles would taste and for sure way better than probably half of tt doubles sellers, just my opinion, tried the chicken roti as well and i hate my meat sooo soft like how you said you like yours falling off the bone so that was my downfall with the roti there, anyhow enjoy your trip and br safe.
Thanks bro, yeah that $2.50 and $3 hutt meh, but the curiosity had the better of me
Boy dont waste your money again Anyway it's a good review of Miami rotis.Do enjoy your vacay and be safe until the next onem
Lol, sometimes we gotta spend those funds to ensure we don’t spend it again and possibly save others from doing so
Tabanka Roti shop have good doubles
This really seems to be the spot to visit when next I’m up on that side
Hi bro...I've had doubles & roti in New York & London...the roti in London was pretty good, but the curry was horrible lol...it was interesting in New York, but not really that good...
Whoaa bro, nice, I tried doubles at Trinciti in NY already in Liberty and that was the closest thing to a good trini doubles, but that was 5 years ago, hopefully I’ll be able to go doubles hopping in NY sometime soon
Thank goodness u didn’t go the that last place Laloos I think it would have gotten 1 star / 1 doubles. Lol. U missed tabanka restaurant not far away
I’m really looking forward to Tabanka next time I visit and yeah it was unfortunate I didn’t know about it till the comments on this video, it would have probably save me from the disappointment of the other 2 spots, lol
@@TrinbagoVibes definitely message next time

Wendy make that LC doubles owah? 😭
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 they probably used her recipe in truth 🤣…good one bro
Mona’s is the best in marabella
Yup….if Dollar Beer wasn’t in Vistabella, that would have been some competition, lol
Not being harsh but America food has nothing compare to the Caribbean in flavour, i ate some stuff over there and its just bad, there say it taste good but there haven't tasted good yet, not even average, Caribbean people love ground seasoned food, not just salt, blackpepper and power
🫔🍞🥞 HI T/V THANKS FOR THE ROTI HOPPING , GOD BE WITH YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE!, HAPPINESS AND JOY IS SENT YOUR WAY, MIAMI WOW! 🫓🍔⭐🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Hey Simi, blessing to you always and thank you and yeah, I’ll be looking for the Trini food wherever I go 😁
dollar beer
Hi rajeev be safe enjoy
Hey Dianne, thank you and have a great one as well
Agreed, Trinidad food is expensive and of poor taste in US.
Hope you had some Rest and Relaxation.
Yup and thank you Ms Jackson 🙏🏽😁
Lawwwd stop mentioning the prices in the states the doubles cabal will set price like opec 😂. I think a good bit of the Caribbean spots in the states don’t compare to food back in the islands but people patron them because it’s a reminder of home for those who moved to the states.
Lol, hadda compare so we don’t take our food for granted, but yeah it’s a reminder of home…still doh I expected them to be better
I man spend my $ 🤣
Done kno, lol
Vibes you have experienced the high cost of local cuisine abroad which leaves a lot to be desired, In the UK you can pay £2 to £3 for a doubles in an ordinary food shop. When you go to a restaurant prices go up, there is a restaurant chain Turtle Beach which a doubles set you back £5. Quality is not there. Roti here can cost £12 and again poor quality.
Wow, really makes me appreciate the value of these items at home
Yep I don't mind paying the price if the quality is excellent 👌
@ Rajeev gotta say this if yuh want d rel ting next time come to Queens / lefferts /// Joys n other spots in Mia is overated n BTW never do the forex it does not help
Lol, ihu Ricky but gotta do it to make me appreciate what we have here and may even take for granted even more…planning a trip to Queens sometime in the future, will vibes you whenever I get up on that side
@@TrinbagoVibes definitely pm message me I will take to u some spots NJ/ NY when u are ready
Hopefully not in August Im travelling TC
@@rickynassiah3685 if I’m visiting it will most likely be in November
you know what i like the money dont taste good
yuh know! now it wasn't bad but still expected better for the price
That’s a great plan, it would be interesting to see the comparisons
It still wouldn’t be the same. But you would have done a lot better in New York. Just saying. Enjoy your trip.
One day I’ll doubles hop or check out the Caribbean spots in NY, lol
The real struggles of living away from home
Yup, still it would be nice if it was very close to home flavors
