Thank you for being honest and not sugar coating your reviews. That's one of the reasons I love this channel. This is one of the reasons why when my hubby and I come to trinidad we make our name eating all the good food because finding it NY is a hit or a miss.

One thing I could say is that in Trinidad, if your roti is bad, people will let you know by their non patronizing and plus …trinis have lots of choice. In the USA….Choice is reduced and there are many more customers who may not know the original way it should taste. Tsk tsk. Thanks for taking one for the team 😂✌🏾

Welcome to Florida !!! It was so great you were here and did a commentary on our local Trini spots. There's quite a few more places around and next time you're here let us know we'll recommend or take you out to a few places. BTW omg I was laughing at your reviews and comments on the taste when we think it's tasting good lolol. I guess our taste buds adjusted and an FYI with Joy's it's not Trini's cooking.....it's Mexicans. Come back soon I'll sponsor you some meals out for your videos. I heard from a local that their food is plenty better than Laloo. So I'm glad you didn't have to waste your money. I live in Orlando and sadly, I've never been tempted to buy roti from any of these restaurants. Not even Joy's. Usually when you see 'chicken curry ' it's not Trini but Guayanese. I live in SoFlo and have eaten at LC Roti, Joys, Laloos, Singhs, Priyas Roti, Ali's and Curry Tabanca. Petty much they all lack consistency- they can be great one day and near tasteless on the next day.
Its true that a roti here may cost $85TT, but that is more representative of the current exchange rate. When I lived in TT during the oil boom, 1$ US was worth $2TT. The collapse of the TT economy made US prices seem ridiculous...but in terms of buying power a $12 US roti is cheaper than a $30TT one.

Vibes you have experienced the high cost of local cuisine abroad which leaves a lot to be desired, In the UK you can pay £2 to £3 for a doubles in an ordinary food shop. When you go to a restaurant prices go up, there is a restaurant chain Turtle Beach which a doubles set you back £5. Quality is not there. Roti here can cost £12 and again poor quality.

To have good Trinidadian food, you must have it in T&T. I live in central Florida now and the food is embarrassing. Every roti shop I've been to is soo stingy with their sauce if you even get any. Bunch of dry doubles. I bought 25 doubles 2 weekends ago and told them we want everything in it. We got home and all the doubles dry like crix crackers. Not a drop of tamarind sauce, pepper sauce. And yes, it was $3 per doubles. US $75 in doubles and can't even get some pepper sauce. smh

ROFL You got your money's worth of flour and salt. The Roti shops are maximizing profit by making thick barra or roti with less filling, and making it look like you are getting volume for the price. The first roti didn't look like it had much filling. The amount you spent on the four items paid for several bags of flour, which yielded a lot of barra and roti. Also, they are factoring in the overhead...rent and salaries. Next time you come to America, you could comparison shop grocery items.
