Yooo - WE ARE BACK!!!
Hi
Judging by the new layer of complexity added to the Succession War in the new chapter, Togashi's not planning on ending this boat ride any time soon. May his back be strong and his life long.
togashi is well know that he close arcs suddenly and without a warning , i expect a quick death for many new chars in this war
Or indeed, Whale ride! 🐋
Amen. Long live Togashi and his back 🙏🏼
Bro.. this new info about beyond will accelerate this war a Lot!
I think he realized that for sure, that he's not gonna live forever. Sure the back issues are valid but somehow it's becoming more to him of an excuse. Thank god the hiatus is 'kinda' over. Pray that HxH won't be another unfinished masterpiece like Berserk and Vagabond and more like One Piece, whose conclusions are beginning to dawn to us.
I hope Togashi understands how loyal his fans are. Anime/Manga like HxH or Berserk have become exceedingly rare
how so?
@@CrisisMoon7amazingly written long running manga are exceptionally rare. that’s how. I honestly can’t think of a manga created within the last 10 years, that’s on the level of either of them in both longevity and quality.
@@pinnaculltrue
@@pinnacullI think chainsaw man has the potential of getting to that point
@@pinnacull I not in the last 10 years but AOT
I think part of the reason Togashi's writing is so breathtakingly good is that he loves to "understand". What I mean is, he loves to understand how things work and how people work, and it reflects in hxh greatly. He makes many complex systems, that aren't even that important to the story (for example the whole system of the succession war, or even the auctions in YorkNew), the world really does "feel lived in", and even the side characters all feel like real people. The story could follow some of the side characters, or even some background characters and we'd still get the same complexity and depth. Togashi wants to "understand", and wants his world to awaken that curiosity in people as well. Even despite being a fictional world, every aspect of it feels so grounded and realistic, that you can't help but feel pulled in.
This is the very biggest draw, for me. I can relate. It is obvious the man is truly "cultured." He has studied religion, history, sociology, dysfunctional dynamics, government structures; you name it! His understanding is accompanied by an inherent appreciation, he doesn't really demean any of the archetypes he portrays.
Intertwined with that is a more specific vibe of... negative influence. He really likes to shed light on dark spaces in human society and mentality. In some ways he is obviously condemning those who take advantage of others and such, yet on the other hand he isn't dismissive in doing so.
Yeah. That's why we get random shit he learns thrown in. "Hey guys, so this is how people scam you with antiques"
I can't comprehend how togashi handles all these characters in his mind and keeps adding more complex elements and plot lines to the story
I mean, If im being honest its not that hard, and realistically togashi's handling isn't the most impressive either, by a mile
Published author here. The key is to write about the stuff you love, create characters based on your favorite artists (but not all, so it'll be easy to kill them when it's needed) and constant sources of inspirations, from music to some series, classics or current ones; all that makes the memorization of the story much easier 🤗.
@@RodrickMarsMoon what and where have you published? If you don't mind me asking
@@xandex69 Oh, no problem, mate 😄.
I had published two books, one from their own series, but it doesn't have an english version yet, the titles, in free translation, would be Wings of Blood, about a world in a brick of a holy war (it'll be six books until then), and A Wings of Blood Story, an anthology series about small scale conflicts that happened decades/centuries before the first series, each book telling a self-contained story with different cast of characters ^^.
I'm even finishing writing the sequel to the first Wings of Blood book, which will start to answer questions 😆🤗.
@@RodrickMarsMoon thx for the info
Even if he doesn't finish the series, I'm glad that he got the chance to tell the story he wanted. To me, HxH has become a series that proves you can start with a normal setting, then change it up to make it more interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does in future arcs and hoping he somehow gets his health better as time goes on.
Put beautifully well my dude 👏🏼
@@alexenterprises1 Anytime my friend.
The genius of hxh is how subversion is a part of the story and not an excuse for bad writing tactics.
Gon doesn't care about becoming a floor master. In a normal story he would same with meeting neon and her saying the line "I don't believe in the bad fortunes" if she got one for gone.
Togashi truly understands how shounen tropes work and works that into his world being more human and realistic in everyone having their own goals and sub stories within stories
People pretend subverting expectations is inherently good writing when in reality it's just an excuse for the writer getting lazy. When a bad writer subverts your expectations they just replace what you expected to get with nothing at all. When togashi subverts you he typically actually gives you a massive curve ball
@@thebuddah1253The massive curve ball that is also very expected if you pay close attention to all the details
Example. When hawkenburg from succession war used a bow. I thought ok it's just a weapon. Go back and read he was doing archer and boom blew my mind at the details hidden in plain sight.
York new how the phantom troupe constantly have anime protagonist scenes which only hit harder when they Stary dropping like flies. It's basically if fairy tail gang were the bad guys but we'll written
@@ivanbluecool yah good subversion includes good foreshadowing
True, but your second paragraph is incomprehensible
You have to learn the rules before you break them, that's what Togashi's doing. He learned the rules with Yu Yu Hakusho and now he's breaking them with Hunter x Hunter.
"HxH is like an onion. Onion have layers, HxH has layers"
401 further cements how much of a genius writer Togashi truly is. His writing is completely unpredictable yet he still manages to lands the execution.
The upload timing was COLD!
Video is automatic A+ for having some Digimon World music in the background. Especially appreciate you going over Studio POT and the legality of the series.
Hunter X Hunter has one of the best combat systems (Nen), characters that actually develop from events, World that is just as mysterious as it is big, A story that cares more about it's plot then the main character, It gets dark and properly explores all introduced tropes to show reality, and the interpersonal relationships between characters and personalities are unique giving all side characters a special persona of there own making them rememberable. It gives villains dept making them have there own character development and makes us understand there reasoning and position. The initial final goal of the story was for gon to meet his father and be a hunter just like him. But, it goes way further and makes you as a reader want to know about the world and it's mysteries rather then the main character. You get absorbed and start wondering who is the strongest, what will happen next, and then finally it brings in political intrigue on a world scale with shifting power figures making moves. This is what I call a masterpiece that truly outshines all other works! This is me solely talking about the story, I can go deeper into the 2012 adaptation which in itself is a master piece.
We are soooo backkkkkkkk
I doubt he'll be able to keep it up for a long period of time, but he's been doing the basic sketch and inking for about a chapter per week, I think that's a fantastic pace.
this is so well done thank you! i have also been comparing grrm to togashi for years and the two stories are by far my favorites! this video is amazing
hxh didnt deconstruct shonen.instead it evolved and grew past shonen into a more mature and serious story alongside its reader and it paralleled whats popular in each era. hxh is not only a nostalgic throwback to my childhood but its current story is also relevent today and find it intruging and intresting at my old age. it went from grand adventure arc to a social critic to a mystery crime story to a martial arts arc to a film noir thriller to a new age schi fi gaming tournament to a psychological biohorror. and finally to a mature geo and socio political themes. but the best thing is how everything is so well executed from the dialogue to the intricacies attention to details in the plot and dialogue and foreshadowing and hints and hidden meanings and messages between the lines. i can go on forever about hxh . im just glad we are getting a bit more.
Togashi is basically a fusion of Akira Toriyama and Urasawa Naoki.
Fax
One of the best and most accurate description of Togashi !
Chainsaw man is terrible.
Lol no
Togashi is a hack
He doesn't even touch the greatness of Urasawa
@@JimboS1ice999 I agree with u but what does CSM has to do here? lmao
It deconstructs the power system of shonen, you dont see many mangas explaining how some powers work with complete understanding of it. I genuinely think people who call it mid are in denial that its better than their fav anime lol
Yorknew ending in one of the most hyped up battle between the 2 biggest villains at the time, only to end up in an anticlimax.
In Chimera Ant, the big bad not even being acknowledged by the MC whereas in other shonen the MC is the strongest in the universe.
One of the good guys being scared shitless by the villains (Knov iirc, the portal scout guy).
And many other examples, Togashi knows what the audience expects and flips it around in a spectacular manner. If it weren't for Berserk, HxH would be an easy nr. 1 pick for me.
IDK what shonen or manga in general you guys are reading lmao, cause all of these are basic troupes. Like even One Piece and Naruto do this shi lmao (arguably better as well) and they are as shonen as it gets.
The anticlimactic big bad battle is like the thing one piece is known for (Still not mihawk vs shanks after 1100 chapters) This doesn't mean one piece doesn't land perfect climaxes btw.
Luffy was practically irrelevant in the actual battle of marine ford, he would've died a dozen times over if he fought any of the big bad.
Same with Him in whole cake island, he had ZERO chance against Big mom
"Is this the power of a God" Garra after seeing Madara Uchiha for the first time
Hxh is a amazing story, but it's not "Unmatched" in the slightest.
This is such a beautiful video.
Although I am by no means a professional, I too consider myself to be a gardener-type writer.
I can’t make a schedule for myself to write. I’ll quickly jot down ideas in the middle of the night after waking up from an interesting dream.
And when I get struck with…something, I’ll have points I want to hit and then just start writing a lot at once.
I will completely start adding shit in the middle of me getting through a plot point I wanted to make, only to completely alter it as if I were possessed by another.
My point being, authors like Togashi, Martin (even though I don’t read or watch GoT) and especially Inoue’s desire to make his work perfect and needing inspiration-really have my empathy.
I’ve rewatched Hunter 3 times but always skipped the ant arc because I watched it as it was coming out and as a young boon I couldn’t understand. But just rewatched it last night and man what a masterpiece. Watching your video now bro hahaha
The stair scene is impossible to watch
u cooked with this one! subbed ❤️
Great video. I feel besides the obvious "subversion of tropes", Togashi's ability to keep the story fresh is always great.
HxH starts as a typical exam shonen arc, then family drama, then tournament/training arc, then crime mafia thriller arc, then isekai/training arc, then a dark(?) fantasy arc about humanity, then a politics+family drama and at last a game of thrones kind family politics arc with monster horror elements.
God knows how much Togashi experiments with HxH and he succeeds every single fucking time.
This video is literally a masterpiece i love how you ended the video narrating one of the endings to hxh it was so clever and smooth.
I was looking for a new mangatuber and somehow came across your channel. Goated taste bro, you cover all of my favorite series. Loved the Monster video
I like how you went straight into manga spoilers with no warning. Thanjs
a video about my favorite thing in the world by one of my fave tubers? PRAISE THE LORD (Togashi)
That was just beautiful, man. I actually got more out of it than I expected.
This deserves way more views ❤
Killua and Gon are amongst the best bromances in animanga.
welcome back !!!
So glad you're back AND with a Hxh video! Beyond excited for the return.
The Doctor Who mention caught me off guard lol. And good points on Dune.
Great video as always! Thank you
Honestly better to ignore when people call something "mid" since its usually a preference thing. Obviously if 90% of people say its mid, then it probably is, but not in this case.
People call anything that’s not reliant on hype or aura “mid”.
the ishida and togashi being the same person was a magical time and wished it was real despite how ridiculous it was
Honestly same lol
I mean to be fair Ishida is definitely trying to copy his writing style but forming his own identity back then when he is making Tokyo Ghoul
I just loved how he does stuff like casually invent a game called 'Gungi' where me and the boys were like we gotta learn how to play thi... wait it's not A REAL GAME?!
What a genius. I bet he even legit made the game where it totally works and is real but just brushes that off as 'extra detail'
Protect him at all costs!! If he can finish HxH it will for sure sit in the top 3 of all time! I don't think there's anyone out there writing how he does, and there probably won't ever be again (I could go into this but I'll leave it to the pros!
The premise of Gungi is entirely fictional and wouldn't work as a real "chess-like" game given its rules. Still cool though.
I was happy that Chapter 401 came out; I fucking read it, and "Oh. My. God." What a fucking chapter to come back to from hiatus, I was just happy before that it came back. After reading 401; fucking hyped, can't believe he dropped that exposition, fucking togashi, got me hooked
What a beautiful day when I see the video about hxh in your channel many thanks bro
New chapter soon
Amazing video, bro!
21:50 and i was… concepts of thoughts and dreams 💀 man i love hxh even if it’s old enough that if it were real i wouldn’t exist even in the most recent parts of the story 😭
GOAT UPLOADED 🦍🔥
Gon was an old school MC like Son Goku
Imagine if when the manga's finished Madhouse steps up and speaks "Give me your content Togashi we need to finish this thing"
One of the things i love about Hunter X Hunter is that it's laidback , fresh , chill and despite not being an insanely large world everything you know is developed to maximum level so that the reader may grasp the wealth of this world and all the things it has to offer. This also happens because the world's not too large.
Hunter and Hakusho are two masterpieces.
Thanks for the vid
Dude I'm loving this Ending D! And I haven't even finished listening
I think people may be misunderstanding what Adult Gon actually is. I'm pretty sure it isn't "Gon at his peak", it's more like "All the aura Gon has and ever will have converged into this one moment."
one of my top favourite manga of all time
33:22 I could've sworn that you made a mistake here. Wasn't this just Togashi estimating from what he THINKS the fans would rate the endings? Not that he actually revealed all the endings and had them rated
4:10 Goddammit not again.
HxH is one of the few shounen shows that doesn’t praise it’s main characters rage.
You will see YT channels post things like top 5 rage moments like its this cool thing we should marvel at. But in HxH its one of the saddest moments in the series.
The Digimon music earned you my like!
What a great video essay.
dude you dont even explain the nen techniques right xD. zetsu is not charging up energy to go fast or escape xDDDDD it just hides your aura. Gon knows it because its similar to what animals do when tracking pray, hiding their prescense. Gon learned it from them.
Bro been holding the video for years
The new chapter was so good 😩
Best manga ever. Simple as that. Yes one piece is great. But hunter x hunter depicts complex and adults subjects and gives realistic conclusions respective to its universe and ours. One Piece is a little too childish. It does depict complex subjects too. But there is always a happy ending.
Want a sneak peak to what the dark continent will be?
Read Toriko, its "Gourmet world" is basically dark continent.
Yeah Toriko was great, wish it hadn’t been fumbled in the end.
Yea!
Someday I'll find an interesting video like this where the narrator has a pleasant voice to listen to. Not today.
LEGEND.. 🙌
6:43 whoa!? That's huge! I always wonder how he was able to take breaks without being dropped.
If Togashi miraculously finishes HxH without big damages, he should write the next manga Dragon Quest title
Masterpiece not finishing will always not be sad
Togashi WILL live well beyond the natural ending of Hunter x Hunter. 🙏🏿
this is sad
Unrelated to this but it reminded me of it when I heard gege’s name. It would be funny if he had the not so great ending on purpose just to let anime catch up and then write a one shot type of deal or series of light novels to adapt into movies answering all these questions the fan base has
No offense, but what’s the point in pronouncing the names wrong if we literally have proof of how they’re actually pronounced?
Calling nen impact mid actual set me for a loop, I went to evo this year and the game is amazing, but I do get if your saying it’s mid if your looking for more Hunter x Hunter story but as a game it is phenomenal and gets the idea of how Hunter x Hunter fights are since traditional fighting games have that aspect of strategy and reading your opponent, I will admit though that it does make me mad that they don’t have the budget for better graphics but that’s the least important part for me
WE ARE SO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!
I love that HxH has something for everyone. If you want something surface level and cool, you can watch it like that. If you want to delve deeper and analyze everything down to the subtle complexity of something as grandeur as the Poor Man's Rose and Togashi's thoughts on global issues through that or the human condition all the way down to something as small as how certain things in the show and manga mirror other things (Don't remember the thread, but there was a huge and amazing Twitter thread that delved into how something as small as one character using their left hand for a task their opposite used for their right creates such amazing symbolism and that's such an amazing thing to me)
Edit: I get why you're saying Nen Impact is "middling" just from visuals alone, but the game, gameplay wise, is incredible. It plays like a mix of Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Tatsunoko vs Capcom since it's made by the same devs. It's such a cool looking game, and the general power level allows the game to flourish in terms of Nen expression. I implore every HxH fan to check it out. The community is great and the game is going to have rollback netcode, allowing for cross continental matches.
Hello, where did you find those beautiful artworks at the beginning? Like the one at 0:42
All on his twitter :)
@@alexenterprises1 Oh I will check that out then! Thank you.
The Chimera Ant arch is beauty and the beast done right!
To be fair, though. Gege Akutami has been co-opting Togashi's drawing style more and more as time passes. If only he could copy his writing prowess...
U people are annoying LOL
@@bonessxd1774 not wrong
Togashi's art is better because he understands the fundamentals of proportions and facial expressions
@@alexandriteqween9760 gege also understands it also, why are u even comparing art styles in the first place. They both have drastically different styles that both service their stories in different ways
We can praise both without tearing one down to prop up another
Jjk feels like if hxh had 4/10 writing instead of 10/10
The only bad thing i found about the arcs were the chimera ant arcs pacing i couldent find anything else
You’ve misunderstood quite a lot of the themes and tone of the manga but yes HxH is certainly genius
like what?
Can you tell us
INSTAND SUBSCRIPTION WHEN I SAW THE BUNGEE GUM QUOTE
the Digimon world 1 music gave me flashbacks...
I used to desperately wish that Togashi would just let someone else write the manga so it could release more often and a lot of fans have echoed this sentiment. However, ultimately Hunter x Hunter is Togashi's art, and he should be allowed to do whatever he wants with it
you need to insane to think the writing of togashi and tokyo ghoul are in the same level
A great example of a manga with great art, story and characters that will finish its story at the pace its going is Vinland Saga.
We have, in fact, seem nen beasts in action, like goreinu's gorilas. Unless you are talking about the spirit guardians, the ones from the kakin ceremony, those are new territory for us.
Ah I suppose I should have specified the urn ceremony Nen Beasts
togashi is ging and gon is the hunterxhunter manga franchise how he leaves but also love it at the same time
Maybe just enjoy what we got
3:54 hisoka 😭
Yk I never understood anime TH-camrs that are self aware of them butchering names but does 0 effort on trying to atleast pronounce it correctly
I said the same thing. I’m genuinely confused
I think it's just that they can't pronounce it properly.
western problem, or just americans in general
No, Frank Herbert would never have written something like Hunters of Dune or Sandworms of Dune
What is the music used throughout the video? Really love how they all sound!
DO NOT DISS NEN IMPACT JUST CAUSE YOU ARENT HOT ON FIGHTING GAMES
but fr the people who have played it like it and it got a delay we should be excited it has a god tier selected roster
you check out The Kingkiller Chronicle if you haven't already. Masterpiece taking forever cause a struggling artist.
Ironically I had a segment for Patrick Rothfuss in the original draft of this video, but cut it out because yeah his story is kind of similar to George’s - just created wayy too much stuff and is wayy too worried about it being 3 (or 7) books. I do think Name of the wind is amazing though!!
Please say when there would be manga spoilers bc dropping off what I think u said Hisoka dies is smth crazy just to say passing by, I hope that isn’t what u mean and I’m not spoiled but 🤷♂️
No it's actually more complicated than that
Im curious what exactly makes you believe gon and killua's friendship/ relationship as a whole is over or at an end??? I kinda felt like sure they are going their separate ways but once they finish what they are doing then they'll be together. Nothing changed between them and i feel like they both grew together.
Rewatching this series.. holy fucking shit the amount of exposition and random people explaining shit at inappropriate times, Batman.
Chat should I watch hunter x hunter?
If only Togashi's health was okay, hxh would have been just as long as one piece...
more more hxh content pleaseeee
What happened to the 'The Artistic Evolution of MADE IN ABYSS' video?
I need to know what background songs these are!! Please...
I hear Digmon world music :D
What is the music at the end?
