    I just found your videos yesterday... I am a pretty avid knitter and watching how these are constructed reminds me a lot of how one "builds" a knitted piece, one loop at a time, one row at a time. It makes me wonder about the using various knitting pattern techniques to make unique chainmail... I may have to try my hand at making chainmail! Thank you for your videos. I think they seem very informative, and you make it look so easy.

    Your videos make me interested in doing chain mail.. never thought about it. I'll just keep watching for inspiration. Maybe I'll find some use for it in one of my crafting projects and I can follow your tutorials. :D

    Hi Yvonne, I really enjoy your tutorials, you explain everything so clearly. One thing I would appreciate would be if you put the list of materials you have used in the description, so I can search the internet more easily for them.Crafty hugs Jill 🤗

    Another fun video to watch! I'll bet after doing a large piece of this, you see circles for a few hours. :o) If you run out of tutorial ideas, I'd love to see a video of the products you have to sell. It's fun to watch you make them, but I'd also like to see several finished products to give me ideas on how I can combine various things you cover in your tutorials (and it'd be good advertising for you, too, lol).

      You know, you're not wrong! And thanks for the great idea; I think I will make a video of some of our products at the upcoming convention! :)

    When I was making chain mail I made sub-units of 4 in 1, then tied them together with a single ring. For myself, I found it much faster. Also if you are working with all metal, you will find the "fabric" will have more flexibility one way than the other.
    That is an interesting idea of using the "o" rings. Also I made some rings from 12 ga. & 14 ga. solid copper wire and from brass & bronze rod stock
    The brass & bronze rod must be annealed before bending, as it can break.

      Thanks Amelia, I am glad you found me! (gonna turn into a huge nerd for a moment) Saruman was a different character from Lord of the Rings, the feller with the eye was Sauron. Very similar names, though :p

    I've got kind of a unique question for you: One of my first projects was a chain mail tie, and now I'm thinking about making a chainmail shirt and suitcoat to match it (maybe even a top hat, who knows). what would be your recommendation for how to do the collar? I've seen lots of tutorials on the classic hole opening, but you seem to be the most crafty of all the chainmaillers on youtube, so I trust your opinion most. I'm wanting it to look like a dress shirt, but not necessarily button up like one. Probably closed all the way up, maybe with a v cut to cinch closed. I'm also wondering if I should pattern it like a circle around the neck and down to account for the collar, or if I should just pattern across the shoulders and make a hole.
    I'm thinking 16ga 1/4" for the shirt, debating whether or not to do stretchy, and probably a larger ring size and gauge for the suit and pants. Still thinking about logistics for all of that, but you make it all look so easy, I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.
    Thanks for your help!

      I like the angled edges meeting each other, but I don't think I'd want a seam going all the way down the front, would there be a way to have that be just at the top?

    Out of curiosity, do you tumble the stretchy chainmaille?

    • @backtoearthcreations
      @backtoearthcreations  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Paula! Technically you can; the drums on my tumbler are made from epdm. but I don't typically tumble anodized aluminum because I don't want the color to come off.

    I have always been fascinated with maile, but one of the things that puts me off some of the tutorials is the length of them. Maybe in some of your tutorials you might want to do a timelapse with a voice over. I haven't done any yet, but maybe you can do it with your headphones with the mic on it.

    • @backtoearthcreations
      @backtoearthcreations  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will consider doing that, thanks! A big part of chainmaille is that it is essentially very time consuming.
