- Germany is making a further 19 million euros available for humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has been holding talks in the region. In the occupied West Bank, she called for the Palestinian Authority to play a role in post-war Gaza. In Jerusalem, Baerbock criticised the Israeli government over settler violence. She says these actions damage Israel's interests in the long-term.
For more on this, we talk to Randa Slim. She is a foreign-policy specialist from the US-based Middle East Institute and joins us from Washington.
And we talk to journalist Stella Männer who joins us from Beirut.

Now that almost all countries have become vehemently critical of Israel, Germany slightly jumpes the band wagon by expressing mild verbal criticism itself. Its insane that this is the first time that Germany expresses criticism towards Israel since months while they were literally killing tens of thousands of civilians, basically conducting inofficial ethnic cleansing and genocide. And all the silence just because of political correctness, that is, the "historical responsibility" for Israel. All these months you couldn't say a word against Isreal in Germany without being labelled as antisemitic, and still it is like that. And once the narrative slowly starts changing, and the situation might turn out that Germany could become the last man standing in dogmatically supporting Israel, politicians are all of a sudden allowed to use harsher words. Its all just one big hypocrisy.

Why funding Gaza
So tired of all the moral grandstanding by western nations and the UN. Not one of them would tolerate a neighbouring country shelling their territory daily. Until Arab nations come to realize Israel is there to stay and be willing to live in peace, continued war is inevitable.
If it was about realising that Israel is there to stay, wouldn’t that have been very easy giving that many Arab countries has western puppets dictators but what do you do about a neighbour that is a bully in the neighbourhood? UN special coordinator condemns killing of Gaza civilians
Tor Wennesland has told members of the UN Security Council: “The scope of death and destruction in Gaza has been catastrophic and horrifying. … I unequivocally condemn the killing and maiming of civilians in Gaza, including women and children.”
In a Security Council briefing on the situation in the Middle East, Wennesland added that “Israel’s use of explosive weapons in densely populated areas has destroyed entire neighbourhoods and damaged hospitals and other civilian infrastructure, schools, mosques and United Nations premises.”
The level of humanitarian assistance that has been allowed into Gaza continues to fall short of meeting the needs of the population, he said, adding “It is imperative that all necessary access points be opened, and made operational, and humanitarian access be sustained.”

The Israeli military needs to be off the streets of Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
This mess was caused by the UN. The UN should clean it up.

The US is the worst in regard to this as they have been constantly been using their veto power to block the vote for the acceptance of the State of Palestine as a full member state in the UN!

"The UN Security Council has begun reconsidering the Palestinian request to become a full member of the global body after a hiatus of 13 years.
The request was initially submitted in September 2011 but talks stalled as the United States, which holds veto power and backs Israel, protested.
..Malta's UN Ambassador Vanessa Frazier, who is the Security Council president for April, told reporters after a closed-door meeting on Monday that talks will be held this month.
US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said Washington's position remains unchanged.
To acquire full membership, the five permanent members of the Security Council must refrain from using their veto and at least nine members must vote in favor. If the application passes, two-thirds or more of the general assembly must then vote to approve the move.

"...Ireland, Spain and Norway have announced that they will recognize a Palestinian state amid Israel's ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip.
The prime ministers of the three European countries made the announcement separately on Wednesday.
Ireland's Simon Harris said, "Palestinians in Gaza are enduring the most appalling suffering, hardship and starvation."
He also said, "We believe that 'permanent peace' can only be secured 'upon the basis of the free will of a free people.'"
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Norway's Jonas Gahr Store announced similar moves.
The countries' recognition is expected to take effect on May 28.
....The Palestinian Authority says at least 140 countries have so far recognized the state of Palestine.
