Phil Collins / Eric Clapton / Nathan East: Easy Lover [live]

While many people grew to love the song "Easy Lover" performed on every single Phil Collins tour since 1990 supported by the great guitar work of Daryl Stuermer, the song was performed before the 1990 tour already on a couple of selected shows with the Eric Clapton super-group. While Phil Collins was hired as drummer and Nathan East for the bass guitar, both joined on the microphone for a special version of the song, supported by Mr. "Slowhand" Eric Clapton with the probably greatest guitar riff this song ever received. 50k views and only 20 odd lines???? What is wrong with people. This is a gem - I only found out Eric had played it whilst checking out Setlistfm. And WHAT a solo - x2!!! Seriously, Eric brings his distinctive phrasing and tone to what is already a classic riff (courtesy of the much underrated Daryl Stuermer). This is a gem. Would be great if one day it got remastered and released.

After their show at the LA Forum on this tour, Nathan, Phil and Eric came over to The Baked Potato to catch Larry Carlton's second set. Larry saw them in the back (the place only holds 55 people) and he and Abe Laborial Sr and Greg Matheison and Chester Thompson started playing Layla (which Larry later recorded for his next album release). The Spud crowd was used to having music royalty within spitting distance. I think one picture was taken. And Larry played an especially inspired set.

@MikeyRB77 Normally on this period of the eric clapton band was Eric on guitar and vocals, Nathan East on Bass and vocals, Greg Phillinganes on keyboard and vocals and on the drum Phil Collins that would do some songs as well with a headset!
Probably is 1986 or something close to that.

Thanks for posting this, saffi01. I still prefer Daryl Stuermer's killer solo... I hope the Eric Clapton fans won't kill ME for this!!! But it's a very VERY cool version and a great thing to hear overall. Really nice of you to share this.

@saffi01 That's why I said 86 or something close, when they record the dvds eric & friends (if I not mistaken) where Phil sung In the air tonight. But still was the same band.
Sometimes they had the Mark Knopfler participating as well!
