I kind of liked the original more. Making it double the size kind of ruined it. It just needed more details and more colors and some smaller additions.
Would’ve preferred if he kept the same structure and just changed the details instead of making the house look entirely different.
What's interesting to me is that, if I remember correctly, the builds in the handbook were contributed by members of FyreUK, one of the most influential building teams in early Minecraft that were known for massive-scale builds. They did really well for the fewer resources they had at that time in early Minecraft, but their larger builds were certainly more intricate. It wouldn't surprise me if they held back a little to make it easier for casual players, especially considering there's a portion of Minecraft's fanbase that's quite young.

I think putting a pit mine directly below the floating island would've looked dope, like the island physically ripped itself out of the ground and the hole left behind is now a mine

I think with the house that the added wings were excessive. I feel like simply upgrading what’s already there, making it as good as it can be, is far more interesting.
I felt the same way for a second, but the original house followed the minecraft building sin of being just a square, the wings were pretty excessive but did a good job at adding shape and depth to the build without completely changing the vibe of the house
@@wyoming2868It did have a shape though, mostly in the back but still. Adding entire wings did take a lot from the "survival house for people who are new to building but want fancy"

What i learned from the video is that you would be a fool to build creatively in vanilla minecraft. Those modded tools are so good.

Honestly this isn't "improving" the builds, it's making builds inspired by them. Don't get me wrong, the builds look amazing and you did a good job but this isn't really what I was hoping for when I read the title

Alright immediately not even a minute in bro doubles the size of the house in a time lapse and doesn't explain himself, and it's not even making the shape really any more interesting, just longer
so, what this video teels me: the key to improve your builds is to scrap it, start all over and pretend the old version didnt exist. Great!

Im at 1:04, and so far, I think you did a great job! The darker color pallette looks nice, though honestly both pallettes look great. It looks really good, although I think the extra side-rooms do detract from it a little bit. They give the build a more mansion-like vibe, rather than emulating the feeling that the OG build had. 9/10, a little overambitious so far, but still a REALLY good build!

Love the builds they are amazing, but a little too excessive, you got to keep in mind that the handbook builds are meant for survival players and new players it's just a guide for people to start off
