Honestly, their design is not bad. It feels grounded and real while also being detailed. It definitely encapsulates medieval architecture pretty well.
It is and it doesn't.
Go visit Europe, ffs.
@@Halo_Legend uh this actually pretty well matches how fully stone castles looked, sure they arent square irl... buts its not real life, its pretty much a stylised version of a castle, and before you say it ive been in mutiple castles as i live in europe
He didnt say that the castle looked like the ones irl, he simply said that it looked at a castle
@@Halo_Legendwhy are you mad about this😭
@@Halo_Legend least pressed European
Oh boy, i can remember the countless hours i spend trying to build that gate, i still have the book and its one of my most beloved ones
how big is it supposed to be? is it like 100x100 ?
Despite how old the design is, it holds up quite well, it's quite simplistic but I think it adds to the charm
Honestly it is a good style for this build whereas most new mojang builds have this style of simplicity but shove in all the new blocks and it doesn't look right and all the older blocks are built in a way that just os weird. Wish they brought these books back they were great:)
Its not too... but the walls being the same as the ceiling and floors also lead to it looking like a Wolfenstein 3d Map... so.
what do you mean old? that's one of the newer books
I like the build, it's reminiscent of the early days of Minecraft where we're only offered by a decent amount of building blocks compared to what we have now.
I hope Minecraft makes updated guides of these building tutorials, albeit with a few variations of the same build using the new building blocks of the recent updates.
Damn, I didn't know u planned on blowing up the whole thing😢😂
They should ask builders to help
and contact redstoners like Mumbo Jumbo for redstone guides
That transition between text and game in the beginning was SMOOTHHHH

Finally someone who actually Put the rooms BOOK ACURATE
almost all of thy youtubers who that make thy castle say "I Think it's too small so I'll just make a Throne room!"
Thank you for making this!
i remember having this book and was addicted, all i build now is medieval style and Viking style, sadly i lost that book and don't know where it went. side note i had this book when i was little, about 9-10 yrs old, I'm 17 going on 18 now :)
Happy early birthday
@@odin_way my birthday was on the 6th lol im alr 18 i appretiate it tho!
Castles like lighthouses benefit from less is more.
Towerhouses were the most common castle in Ireland due to how easy they are to build.
years later and it still actually looks good like before
I like that you try to showcase when you build, a lot of creators just cut to when they are done or just don’t show gameplay, as much anymore, maybe you can do even more of that?
The structures outside the barracks in the yard were ornamental representations of straw training dummies traditionally used to practice technique in preparation for wartime, traditionally, there would be a circle where the sand would go for sparring, leaving cobbled granite rocks for the technique area. The variation in flooring was to lessen the blow for soldiers in training, if the lord they served was wealthy enough, though often this would just be substituted by packed mud, because it was cheaper.
Luckily Minecraft has packed mud now!
6:30 what goes in the chest on the inaccessible balcony mojang? 😂😂

At 4:30; those are NOT EMBRASURES. They are BATTLEMENTS or CRENELLATIONS which are comprised of the raised barriers called Merlons and the spaces between them called Crenels.
Embrasures are an example of a hole in a solid wall for a soldier to shoot through. An arrowslit is a type of embrasure.
To be even more clear, the definition even shown on-screen says specifically that an embrasure is a SMALL opening that is splayed on the inside. Battlements are not small nor splayed on the inside.
There is one instance in which crenels were later called embrasures when used for cannon fire, but in the context of a medieval castle, this is not the case.
Ooooo now I want to get this book and make it with some of the updated blocks- like tuff bricks, maybe some deepslate bricks… the ideas are ideaing
I actually have used this book many times in my dad and I's mc world for our castle, obvi not these exact buildings but i skimmed through for inspiration since i don't really know what buildings were in a medieval town. this book slaps and i hope they remaster it at some point
1:58 the song playing here gives me so much mythicalsausage nostalgia (I know lots of other creators use this music too but personally the one who stands out the most to me is mythicalsausage in empires ohh how those were the days 😂)
Imagine if these designs made it into minecraft as actual structures 💀
If you ever wonder why da carpets. It’s because if it’s cold or hot it will either cool of the floor or vise versa
Thermal isolation, also preventing the constant sound of metal against stone when men at arms walk.
This is probably the best hardcore starter base I’ve seen!
"starter" bro that build is better than anything i've built in Minecraft
@@navaxda that’s the joke, dude
I wish Mojang kept making more of those books, the castle one was really awesome
I love how you amazingly replicated the books builds they look amazing!
They must make this a structure
"Abandoned Keep" would be nice name to this structure
Which piece?
@@aviowlWDYM?
@@LiveAiden2009 which part would be made into a structure?
If it were the whole thing how would it cope with elevation changes?
*walls are notorious for never working so easily*

*Proceeds to not to show it*
You should do a video where you try to improve the builds
Can we all appreciate the time and effort making these builds.
There ain’t no way he blew it up 💀💀💀 13:39
Nice, either you caught on to the algorithm. Or you just made a perfect video for the algorithm! Great job man. You're on your way!
This actually looks really good. I have the book, I might try this
Bro the tumble minigame music is so nostalgic! ❤❤
Actually pretty nice castle
Still a beautiful castle All these years later. I’ve built four of these in total now over the eight years, I’m building the fifth one now because I lost 3 to YLoD so I’m building one just like one I had before. Thank you!
The Console edition elytra game music was a welcome throwback!
it looks like one of those cities you would find in draggerfall
Honestly i really like these builds, it has that early Minecraft vibes
I have a copy of that book. Glad to see what the castle would actually look like.
OMG I HAVE THIS BOOK AND JUST TOOK IT OUT A FEW DAYS AGO WITHOUT EVEN SEEING THIS VIDEO
thank you for uncovering this ancient marvel of a book
Can you make a complete tutorial of how to build the castle keep exactly like it is in the book? I have this book, but its super hard to read and copy into my world.
12:38 In the book it has the dispensers shifted one block over on the opposite wall so you can't stand in between
I got that book years ago, thanks for the nostalgia
Underrated ngl
Such a great build and transitions
A well deserved sub and like❤❤❤
OK, since you mentioned build time on the turret, I think it was called, given the only way it could take Mojang a long time to a build the turrets, is cause they were counting survival mode and included all four turrets. (And excluding resource collection, maybe including time to reach a corner)
so cool! would love a video on what mods/plugins you use to help build
This is the best building guide I know because bro has a good mic
This gives me Daggerfall vibes. Great video!
this is great, actually reminded me that I had this book and absolutely loved it !
You know I could actually see a way to improve these builds in terms of functionality and looks but other then that it holds up well in modern Minecraft
This guy is not only a builder, but he’s also a grefer! A self-grefer!
Would love to see someone do these builds in a like.. modernization utilizing all the new blocks and materials cuz like 2016 was the same year 1.9 came out, and it's now almost been a decade since then now that we're more than halfway through 2024
I love simpler builds like these. You can make so much more detailed and intricate stuff nowadays but it’s personally not as appealing to me as the simpler block palettes and shapes
When you realize 2016 was 8 years ago
😂😮😅😧😧😧🥺
5:10 brown carpet would have looked better for the table but I suppose mojang be mojang 😂
MysteryOre would be proud

Fun fact: this book was available with a Minecraft magazine in Marks & Spencer, that’s how I got it

HE HATES THE ROOFS SO MUCH HE HAD TO CORRECT HIMSELF AGAIN LMFAO
yah no that would drive me insane, inverted stairs were meant to be
What’s living in this castle? An entire village and four players homes? Also the castle reminds me of the lobby where you wait until you have enough players for the “Battle” mini game back then.
You left out the torture chamber😢
Underrated youtuber
the amount of appreciation this man has, I have scrolled for 2 minutes and still see liked comment from Eeel…. Huge respect man….
Hi I'm new to mincraft and you really helped me finish my base
How does this guy not have 250k? bro who let man cook with these builds.
I had the original minecraft handbooks but the only one i have left now is the one with the shovel/Construction book
W build. Thanks for putting these videos out there! ❤
mysteryore started a new era, first him, then dabbycat, now u
this is basically the castle i built by myself, (i even made a video showcasing it) but... more detailed and... interesting.
._.
To be fair this is much better than what I can do lol. Might just build this in my friends server, plenty of room for farms and such too.
Mojang's guides can be odd sometimes!
The explosion at the end...🤣🤣🤣
I have that book and I wanted to build the underwater base and the giant Viking ship but trying to get the space to build those (let alone correctly) is hard to do.
i have that book, its part of my childhood
7:55 This strange reception thing - i think it came from ancient Among Us games - The ejection (I'm literally starting to lose my head when i look at it)
Great video, never stop trying! you got a new sub!
CONGRATS ON 40K 🎉🎉🎉
You're real for using the old console Tumble minigame music in the intro
I know this was made by Mojang but this was actually really cool
I could work with this, it's super simple and un-detailed but that's fine
really nice video, hope you hit 100k subs you deserve the best
I loved this book when i was younger
the music a vibe
I am torn between the adult who says "Why did you put so much effort into building it just to blow it up!" and the little boy who build towers of blocks just to knock them over.
This is the kind of thing I would take hours to build if I actually had people to play with
It’s good enough that ugly blocks become epic blocks
Mojang really said let's add little bit of "details"
I made this in my world with this book!
Best soft spoken utuber
im trying to build this and want to know how large the outer wall is
I'd love to see a part 2 where you upgrade the build in a modern style. The build holds up ok, but there are definitely parts that could be improved.
that's one of the best endings in minecraft history
I still have that book somewhere lost in my house
Doesent look to bad tho, 🔥
I’m definitely subbing especially after you blew all of that up
The implications of the jail having torture chambers
This showed up in my recommended when you said “in today’s standards” I expected 1.17-1.19 not today
very good video bro hope you reach 100k!
He deserves 100 thousand or more subs, he built all of that.
10:28 Yooooo is that snowy grass???
