The way Biti simplifies complex issues and expresses his points is top-notch!! He is the best economist in this country because he has full understanding of all these issues.
Hon Biti and Professor Mugano have the nation's interest at heart if only the 'powers that be' could engage them to craft better policies for sound economic policies that put Zimbabwe first.
Professor Mugano is a true professor, Biti is as usual 💯....How we're poor despite having these geniuses is beyond me.....the forces of evil are triumphing
Biti will never finish any presentation without mentioning the word PREMIUM...lol....He also got me when he said NOMINAL RITUALISM....l had to google that...lool...the guy is intelligent....
@TawandaSawi Sanctions prevent trade with The West and other allies? No definitely. Sanctions on a few individuals linked with Zanu PF don't seem to stop blueberries showing up in my local store in the UK. Sanctions don't seem to stop remittances from abroad. Sanctions didn't prevent the British govt partly funding the new construction at the Zim-SA border. Members of govt are have children who are US citizens. Please spare us this nonsense for someone else.
On the issue of the exchange rate, it is being manipulated in the sense that 'the willing buyers' who are represented by the banks do not constitute the entirety of the market. And not everyone can participate on the auction market. The little guy who wants 50 USD to go to Botswana cannot access the official market. So we end up with 2 markets- one for big industry and another one for everyone else. Unfortunately the parallel market has more players and reflects a rate closer to market equilibrium. I sign off.
Apparently, now it’s cheaper to fly from Byo to Harare for those who drive compared to paying tollgate fees If one adds fuel+ tollgate fees+ wear and tear, this adds up to airfare from Byo to Harare
It's quicker, yes, but not cheaper, why I say so. When you arrive with your own vehicle, you have the freedom to travel wherever you want at any time. As a mechanic long journey does not wear and tear your car, it is actually healthy for your car,
I spent timentrying to get what Gwanyanya is saying, i couldnt get any point from his long speach or commentary. This speaks to lack to talent in Zanupf. All other speakers are straight to the point and brief. Gwanyanya said a lot but nothing to be honest
We dealing with mafias, the country has been ruined down by bad appointments and corruption, nothing is happening on the ground Zimbabweans are suffering, these mafias.
Biti is a knowledge hub which should be utilised to it's fullest, He is the best leader who can take Zimbabwe forward its a pity Zimbabweans enjoy student politics advocated by chamisa which has failed to mutate into national politics..
The fact is not that they don’t know what needs to be done but greedy and corruption. Biti can be President and still be swallowed by this African ignorance train that is starting to take over South Africa. A President needs capable advisors that he can listen to.
I like the point on SAVING explained by Hon Biti. Banks charges pple for Savings accounts instead of paying a small interest on the credit balance. If you leave your USD100 in a bank account is 6 months there will be nothing- monthly charge, sms charge, statement charge etc
Speaker no.4 mentioned a very vital point on the issue of mineral export accountability which is supposed to be the key source of income to finance national budget.
This other day l was trying to identify a CCC current MP who can speak economics like him in that parliament building, l failed to identify one just one who can argue and breakdown economic issues. Sad

Thank you. The budget doesn't make nay sense at all. It lacks transparent, and truth that the Minister and the Givernor have failed. The reality is it must be in USD, simple.
Percy needs to know that they must first built confident to people to trust zim dollar again. How to do that they must present the budget in zim dollar and collect the taxes in zim dollar. Citizens must feel the need of the zim dollar. So if the government feel not to show love to the local currency then the majority will eventually not.

According to my understanding , a budget is so important that, if Parliament rejects the budget, the Government will usually resign and an election will be held to elect a new Government.....Parliament could either adopt the budget or reject it in its entirety.... It happened in Ghana last year. Ghana’s parliament voted down the proposed national budget on 26 November 2021 because of a new levy on electronic money transfers..... True story, so I don't see why Zimbabwean parliament is not rejecting this budget
the problem is that the parliament is fullof the yes man of the day. they don't question everything that is being done. if you do so you are not patriotic
On his opening remarks, the minister made it clear who are the people who assisted him build the budget. You can not blame him alone........Jesus once said "...by their fruits you shall know them." Now, didn't you guys see Patrick Chinamasa and others' venom in that budget. svinurai murinde hama ruponeso rwave pedyo
How could Persistence Gwanyanya invoke the Rhodesian legacy as a factor contributing to Zimbabwe's macroeconomic challenges? This is 40 years after independence. Forbid!
For the VAT issue this is only for companies with a threshold of USD25000 the challenge is that the informal players cannot prove that their thresholds are below USD25000 hence there comes the challenge. Sugar is not healthy it is like smoking so I believe that is welcome tax since it is also going to help serve cancer issues. I agree that there could be other means though to raise revenue. For us the issue is what is the revenue going to there should be clear presentation on how much is expected from these revenue collection intiatives and what is the income going to cover in the development of the country

Zimbabwe needs the likes of Biti, Nkosana Moyo, Mzembi, Chanakira, Mugano, Munyeza etc to take over as an alternative opposition for the next elections.

Rather, the powers that be actually prioritize Tshabangu and put only him first😮

Care to enlighten us on these mystirical 'forces of evil' and what they are 'triumphing' about😮?

Prof Gift Muganhu and Biti on the same bench, what a great thing. These guys know economics.
Biti needed full time to keep us up to date will our economy ❤

Biti and Pro Mugano are our national assets. Biti touched at the strategic level and Prof. broke the Budget into units a rural person can understand
Broke
Thanks.
Bit knows very well this game
I am not an economist, but i found this debate interesting and enlightening. ❤

Productive discussion, everyone was talking like a Zimbabwean, well done keep it up.
Enlightening contributions from Prof Mugano,Biti and Muchemwa .Sound economic planning require intensive consultation/inclusivity.Command economics doesn't work.
One of my life’s goals is to evade the Zimbabwean type of leadership. My life can’t be like Zimbabwe. I’m taking notes on what not to be.
I salute Mr Biti and Professor Mugano, they are learned people and they have the heart for nation, truly people are over buddened.
Really liked this video, thanks to the moderator and the panelists for enlightening the situation at hand
Budget to punish people 😢😢
Persistence he is missing it in a big way. thumbs up Professor, Honourable and Brains
Does Mthuli and Mnangagwa listen to discussions like this one where they can free lessons on how to run the country?
Biti is a genius. Prof Mugano is an expert par-excellence
They cannot with a straight face call a home worth 100k a mansion. This is just going to punish certain post codes
