    Which model of the Clarisea do you have, is it the SK 3000 or SK 5000. Could you kindly share what length you cut of the pipe to fit the Clarisea. i too have a Gen 1 Reefer XXL and have bought a Clarisea SK 3000, want to compare the height you have put it at.

      UB4000 Hello, it’s the SK5000. Didn’t really measure the pipe. Just sat the whole clarisea in and use it to mark the pipe. It’s sitting as high as it can but the white thumb screws stop it from mounting higher with the standard Red Sea drain control valve.

    Great video. That took a lot to get right but in the end it actually looks much better. The refugium section is even larger .

      Thanks for watching! Yeh, biggest thing was coming to terms with hacking the sump up lol. Definitely stoked with the result of having the larger fuge section. Now to get enough nutrients for Chaeto to grow...

    what made you decide to go to bare bottom? I changed to sand about 3ys ago after being bare bottom for over a decade. I found detritus built up under the coraline growth on bottom as well as in the rocks, I was hoping the sand would trap it and I could then vac it out. Which pretty much did happen , the negatives sand got caught between magnet and glass and scratched it . algae on the glass under the sand seemed harder to remove. Im sitting on the fence with what to do in my next tank and would love to know your reasoning thanks

    Hey mate, nearly 12months on now from this video and just touching base seeing how successful the new filter change has been for the reefer tank?

    I have also been thinking hard about getting one of these for my 525 - just scared of fitment; have to read up in the forums a bit and see who has tried it

    • @NaturalReefing
      @NaturalReefing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once the original install location didn't work out and deciding to come to terms with modifying the sump it worked out so much better than even intended. Would also go with removing the first drop section/filter sock area of the 525 for the best install also. Would look great and free up a lot of room in the 525 sump.

    great videos , I just lost my tank after 17yrs due to a seam letting go. So do I give the hobby up or start again? thanks to the suggestions of others and now viewing your inspiring setup , I intend to follow your lead thank you. Whats the name of the dip product you used? thanks

    Been wanting to do the same in my 425xl, only thing it’s hard to find the right adapters to go from metric to US pipe, having to cut the Red Sea crappy gate valve out etc!

    • @NaturalReefing
      @NaturalReefing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeh, spent some time in the hardware trying to find what would fit. The pressure pipe pvc bends fit the red sea pipe but ended up only using the single elbow that comes with the Clarisea and it fits perfectly.

    That's exactly where I would have put that stag. Nice and high! Hopefully it will grow out of the water in 2 years.

      Thanks! Walk into the house on the right so trying to keep all the massive stuff to the left so can still look down the tank when walking in.

    Would you recommend the 525 of 750 if i have the space for either? FIrst large reef tank, but i have the budget for either

    • @NaturalReefing
      @NaturalReefing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely the 750. Better stand and sump layout. The 525 has no way to level the stand and the 750 does, that was a major upgrade imo.

    Really nice install! It's good to actually hear you speak and guide us through everything rather than having to read it all. I am surprised to see you using frags. Don't you usually place sps colonies?

    • @NaturalReefing
      @NaturalReefing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Wesley! Steep learning curve for this one and can hopefully improve in the future. Yes, trying frags this time after dealing with the AEFW. Hopefully can eliminate a few more pests with small frags being able to dip and scrub a bit better. See how it goes... could change in the future lol

    Thinking of doing this with my 750. Would you still recommend? How long do rolls last? If I’m understanding right, no extra parts required correct? If so that’s a huge selling point being in the US where it’s impossible to find matching pipe :) thanks! Also - what is the water noise level? Silent I hope

    No doubt this will be a stunning tank when its grown out and full of corals. How did you manage to syphon the water out the sump?

    • @NaturalReefing
      @NaturalReefing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the plan, if you see some of the newer videos it hasn't been a smooth road but all back on track now and patiently growing out again!
      It's a 30m hose running all the way out the front of the house and down the driveway.

    Would you make this modification on the 525 XL?? I am using a roller on my 240 gallon and love it so much I would like to have one on the 525. Problem is the ato water section, I don't have room for it anywhere else. You will be so happy when you see dirt build up on the mat an know you don't have to care. LOL 💖

    • @NaturalReefing
      @NaturalReefing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely! Would just remove the whole drop section/filter sock area and that would allow for such a clean install and free up so much vital sump space in the 525. As it only has water flowing out of it that allows that whole section to be a refugium.
      Omgoodness yes, how awesome is it just just feed and not be thinking, well going to have to suck all of that out of the sump later haha! Used to always pretty much do water changes from the sump trying to remove detritus and the auto filter is an awesome game changer!

    • @NaturalReefing

      Yes, but would have to come to terms with modifying your sump.. like removing the drop section and filter sock panels.

    I would imagine you already did this, but fasten the AI light to the top as well. The flex arms can fail and the light plummet into the water. That stupid plastic screw is nonsense. I have mine connected with steelwire. :)

      You are so right by saying this... It is always a to do but go to start and over complicate by trying to design a panel or extra cabinet and then nothing gets done...

      Thanks for watching Mark! Yes, the audio didn't really work as planned there. Hoping to get a more suitable mic rather than just a gaming headset mic to record the audio louder to help with this. Thanks for the support and feedback
