    Sorry to hear about your bad news. Great that you have so many plants. Surely there are CP online groups in Oz, or on Facebook where you can sell your plants. Your colony pot looks great. I always enjoy your videos, interesting and informative. Take care.

      Thank you! I appreciate your interest in my videos and I’m glad you like the pot 😁 there are a couple CP groups on Facebook that I have advertised on as well as marketplace but carnivorous plants are just such a small, unseen aspect of gardening that they don’t get much attention unfortunately, so not many people are interested in these amazing plants!

      What did you do with the extra, repot or let it grow? I've got a very small baby, it seems like it's almost attached to the main plant. It was growing under the medium! Should I leave it when repotting?

    My D. capensis look pretty good, and flower often, but your plants look extra healthy: full of thick traps covered with dew. Nice!

    • @TheFlytrapGarden

      I’m glad you think they’re to healthy, Phil! They just need some good sunlight. When I do an update video again I’ll show the capensis “alba”. These are the STICKIEST drosera I have ever seen in my life. I made sure to keep their seed from my old collection because it’s honestly very different

    I just wanted to say “thank you” for the plethora of information! You’re videos are very insightful to a beginner like me. I respect the passion you have for what you do. I hope you don’t let the setback of being ripped off on your website deter you from what you’re trying to do. I truly think it will be a success. Do you ship to the United States? Sorry to hear about the website scam. Some people really take advantage of the kindness of others. Hopefully you can find someone reputable online that will help you build your website (and have a portfolio/proof to back up that they are legitimate) Sounds like you should start a Patreon/youtube live Q and A to generate some money/tips to help with some of these costs! Don’t be discouraged. Keep going!

    I have a drosera capensis on a south facing window, should I keep water in the tray at all times or should I let it go without water for a few days before adding water again? I've also encountered some soil mites in the tray every time I have water in it, what's the best way for me to get rid of the soil mites? The store I bought them from suggested I water the tray only once a week. Any tips are much appreciated.

    • @kiernanfay8960
      @kiernanfay8960 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      if the mites are springtails, those can be a double edge sword as they will eat fungus that will rot your roots, but their poop is fertilizer and can kill with nutrients, otherwise figure out what they are

    my sundew is the first plant I bought myself, it came with sphagnum moss and seems to be doing fine in it, why do you add the sand to your growing medium?

    • @TheFlytrapGarden
      @TheFlytrapGarden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sand is used to prevent soil compaction which would strangle the roots and cause them to not get any air and eventually rot and kill the plant. Perlite is used as a substitute as it is cheaper and lighter.

      I have no experience, but have seen people using www.wix.com for their website. Perhaps consider doing something simple for now? I know you have lots of grand plans, but start something simple and slowly start to expand your offerings! Better to have something than nothing!
      I started gardening this year and spent so much time planning it and worrying and my cousin's hubby just told me "just plant something already, will you" had he not commented, i may still be in the planning phase! LOL
