    I’m so happy to be a new subscriber. I have psoriasis of the scalp (a bit on my face). It came out of nowhere winter of 2018 & w/an rx oil & shampoo, it was gone by Feb of 2019. It returned in the winter of 2019 & is still raging today... despite every treatment I’ve tried. Thank you for your input.

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease, so it will most likely stay with you forever. Are you seeing a dermatologist?

    • @CalamityJAD3
      @CalamityJAD3 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doctor Anne Wow, Thank you so much for replying! I’ve had bloodwork come up negative for autoimmune, but have tumor on thyroid, diagnosed w/hypothyroidism, then Hashimoto (which I understood to be autoimmune) & seen several Doctors. They stay in that lane, but I’m not sold. I believe my thyroid issue was cause of sudden 84lb weight loss in < 4 months in ‘09. I didn’t move a pound until ‘14 & +60lbs in < 3 months (& truly feel many side effects of hypothyroidism). My body fights it, I’m very active, ADD, but at 40 I just channel it into “being motivated”, lol, never still, but not quite getting set goals done. **so sorry for the overshare**
      I’m just frustrated & confused as to why it showed up at 38yrs old, for a few months, then reappeared a year later, (only not to go away like before). Thanks again 🏆 💞

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@CalamityJAD3 Hashimoto is autoimmune, yes, and if your thyroid is messed up that affects your whole body. Hashimoto usually manifests as hyperthyroidism in the early stages, the hypothyroidism is when the tissue is already destroyed by a large part, so I get why you experienced it like that.
      There are a few topical treatments though that will help with the psoriasis lesions, even if they do not go away, a specialist will be of tremendous help there.
      Late 30s, early 40s is actually an age where quite a few things manifest for the first time, which can be incredibly frustrating, as it is usually the time where we do have a lot on our plate anyway, without sudden mysterious symptoms.
      Wishing you all the best on your journey!

    I found thorough scalp shampooing with Kenra Thickening or with their charcoal shampoo takes longer, but the results for my hair have been amazing. It's much thinker in number and in width. I've been using The Ordinary scalp peptide serum. It's very easily dispensed directly onto the scalp with the pipette dropper. I have no idea if it works, but I've used it on my eyebrows too and they seem much thicker.

    • @DoctorAnne

    Thank you Dr Anne! From time to time I get some dandruff, propably stressrelated but noticable dandruff and not just dry scalp. I had a La Roche Effaclar serum with 1.5% salicylic acid, glycolic acid and a PHA as well as niacinamide (I wasn't using it on my face anymore because I got a bit scared after seeing Alcohol Denat. was the second ingredient). I used 8-10 drops on damp hair after I just washed it, and the night before I would wash my hair, usually that was 3 to 4 days apart. It did wonders in just a couple of applications between each washing sessions. There were still flakes, but much smaller and less sticky.
    I am becoming more interested in trying caffeine for my scalp and perhaps skin because I've read it's also a great anti-oxidant. It's just not entirely clear to me whether caffeine causes vasoconstriction or dilatation. When I look it up online there's conflicting information about this. I don't think vasoconstriction would be a desirable effect though because I thought more blood flow is always better?

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Caffeine is really a great antioxidant and one that I like in my The Inkey List Eye Cream.
      It is a vasoconstrictor, meaning it contracts the vessels. That effect is very weak in people that are accustomed to drinking caffeine though, and even less a problem when applied topically as it would only reach the superficial vessels, so I wouldn't worry about that. But I will put caffeine on my list of ingredients to talk about.

    I've just found your video. My scalp got a bit dry after using a hair toner (which has alcohol). After a few weeks with the toner, I doesn't have that feeling of fresh scalp when I get out of the shower. Do you think it would be better to try Glycolic acid instead of SA? It's not oily, I never have more oil than needed (summer I sweat a lot so I get oily faster than winter, when I can go to 4 days), also there's no visible flakes or anything, that's why I'm sure that toner dried my scalp :(

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it was the toner as you suspect, I'd suggest just giving your scalp time to get back to normal without adding in a new product? I mean, if it was fine before, it will get back to being fine if you don't disturb it.

    Hallo Dr Anne does the caffeine treatment have to be left on overnight or do you think it would be possible to use daily for 30-60 minutes before a shower? I ask because I bought two bottles for friends who now don't want/need them and I have PCOS, which I think can sometimes lead to hair loss/thinning. I'm 29 and thankfully have thick, wavy, fast-growing hair (atm), but I didn't want these to go to waste!

      Anything that has silicones as they coat the hair fibre and reduce frizz.

      Just add hyaluronic acid treatment by inkey list to your conditionner it worked for me. I do not recommend silicones as they only esthetically reduce frizziness but it won’t hydrate your hair.

      Hair loss is usually a scalp problem, not something that you can fix with oils. They might help prevent breakage, but not promote regrowth. The first step is to see someone to make sure your hair loss isn't due to an underlying healthy condition, but often hair is thinning as we age, even in women.
