I have 3 of these in a border. I love love love them! I didn’t realize they were evergreen until it was winter. Absolutely beautiful. Can’t wait until they get big enough to divide so I can have more! 😊
Found this grass on sale at Lowe’s a few weeks ago, after trying on my front garden I decided to go to other Lowe’s and hunt for more and I found maybe 50 plants. I have enough to replace the small patch of grass I have left on the front of my garden, it looks very natural and sophisticated, love it so much.
I found three of these at our local garden center in the spring and no one knew what they were. I bought them and “popped them into a space” . I have them in part shade in zone 9b. They really bring a nice color to shady areas of the garden. Thanks for telling me about them!
I've got mine near some of the light green variegated ajuga, makes a nice color combo. If the purple Tradescantia planted nearby comes back, even better contrast!
So appreciate this video today! I just planted 9 of these in my bed today. Nice texture in my front bed that I’ve been tweaking. Even better, I was able to pick them up on clearance for less than $3 each. They are in beautiful condition!
I am not familiar with this particular cultivar, but I love carex in general. They are so effective in my north facing garden. They look great either next to other plants or hard landscaping, can take a lot of conditions and don't need much maintenance. Real good-doers I think.
Perfect timing!! I put in a couple of these (and some unnamed similar looking but smaller carex) a couple weeks ago. Found some on clearance yesterday, so today will put them in. Have high hopes.
I found Feather Falls at Walmart this spring for cheap. I think people thought they were Liriope and they didn't sell well. They're a lot of plant for the money IMO
We have one with identical colors but not sure it’s the same variety. Our dogs ate it to the ground with no ill effects for the dogs. The plant however needs to recover.
I have gradually planted 6 in my gardens, replacing the former carr3x plants. Wonderful drama added due to the size and movement in the wind. Survived a summer of 100 degree + weather in Houston Tx with no damage or browning. It does grow faster if it has some sun during the day.
I have several Feather Falls. They get much bigger than 2 ft tall. They get ENORMOUS! The ones that are about 2 years old are easily 3 ft tall and wide.
I might have to swap 3 evergold carex with this variety. I need that vigor here in 6a MI they are sooo slow to fill back out from being cut to the ground in spring as they look terrible after winter here. Winter wind just completely desiccates them
@@katiekane5247thanks that’s what I needed to know. I learned about liropie too late a few years back. I bought several of one variety that I read about spreading extremely slowly, and that turned out to be false. Its rhizomes crept under the stone wall and spread into grass. Took a lil bit to get all the rhizome pieces out. But vowed to never plant those again.
Planted in Door County Wisconsin zone 5b last summer and survived the winter and is doing great!
I really appreciate these focused plant videos especially when you compare them to similar plants we may also be considering. Thank you!

I really like the plant spotlight videos, Jim! Thank you.! I’ve got just the spot for a few Feather Falls Carex.

Put Feather Falls in last year and it’s great in my zone 8b! It’s beautiful and I need more!!

@@katiekane5247 Yeah, I got these extras at Walmart. Otherwise garden center is empty and waiting for Christmas!

I’ve been looking for this plant. The search goes on!😊
I have several of these. They get huge! I’ve divided a couple of them and they did fine. Great plant!

Very beautiful plant information
Can you talk about small blue carex grass?
Lobe this Carex❤❤
Would it thrive under a crepe myrtle? I’ve got hellebores there now that are struggling. Zone 7b, Chapel Hill, NC. Ty!

Bunnies eat mine so not great for my garden. Love Carex. Do you have rabbit pressure?
Does it grow under ground and spread everywhere ?
No, it's a clump forming plant. Unfortunately, it looks a bit like that running Liriope.
