There was a remastered version of this record released this year where this song (and all the rest) doesn’t have the intro. That might be more playlistable for you.
@@doublewhiskeycokeonice1317 Same. Guys…definitely add the remastered reissue version if the intro is too much. This song is way too good to not have on a playlist. And definitely go veggie…shit is awesome these days!
Love seeing you dudes getting tuned into the jams and messages this band puts out there. We're not perfect people, but we can still recognize what's wrong in our standards, which includes the failings of the supply chain which supports our standard way of eating. Thanks for doing this one!
Sometimes you have to get shocked with an intro like this to get you thinking about the things we just take for granted in life. I love this intro, every time i hear it, it makes me reconsider my meat consumption. One of my favorite propagandhi songs, intro included :) Ps, yes, i eat a lot of beyond meat these days :D
After a little research, it seems that the Purina pet food company has something called a Purina Hall of Fame, which is for animals that have saved their owners' lives. They're making the contrast of animals being thought of as heros in this regard, but when someone makes the brave decision to save animal lives, in this case by bombing the offending facility, they are thrown in jail. I'm sure this is not the whole story, but this is some of what I found. In regards to regular veganism without strategies as such, I've always found it funny that even though veganism is the practice of abstaining from the violence inflicted on innocent creatures, we are considered the extreme ones. When is not committing violence considered extreme? It's as simple as moving your hand to the left and picking up that oat milk instead of cow's milk. We are not baby cows. No other species drinks milk beyond infancy, especially from another species. I could go on. Can you tell I'm passionate? Something about hearing an innocent being being kicked in the face while she screams will do that to me. So extreme.
Propagandhi are my favorite band but they haven't made me vegan or even vegetarian. What they have done is turn me against the meat industry. There are changes that need to be made but it's naive to think that you can just kill the meat industry. My biggest thing is seeing people decide not to buy a meat and just abandon it in the bread isle because they're to lazy to walk back to the refrigerator section. I have also expensive cuts of meat like a brisket that is about to expire being slightly marked down. Then it doesn't get bought because most people plan to buy a brisket instead of just seeing it on sale and buying it. I sure that at least 10 brisket went to waste on the particular night i speak of.
6:40. He is. The intro is hard to discern at first, but the clue is the line 'ribbons, plaques and soft soap' It;s about animal liberation specifically, but generally tells the story of someone witnessing a holocaust on which society thrives. It sickens him. So he goes to the trainyard and plants a bomb which blows up the entire community. "Sleeping masters roused to burning homes from bed, steeping toddlers plucked from watery deaths..."
Epic closer to an epic album. Today's empires is in my top 5 albums of all time. Walks the line between punk and thrash perfectly. Every song a banger. Todd and jord one of the tightest rhythm sections in rock and Chris has the fkin RIFFS dude. The free form jam stuff like the intro to Albright monument, the drums on ladies night, the crazy shred at the end of Purina - all the way through this album just rips. 10/10 no skips
You could take that guilt and make a change. Just an idea. Anyway, thanks for the reaction. That intro made me cry. But I'm a vegan so my conscious is clear in that regard. I'm not paying for that to be done.
Yes, brain cell to Joel. Try it Chuck! So many good options in the vegan world. The sausages are delicious as well. Impossible brand does some amazing stuff. Try the whopper from BK. Tastes idéntical. The future is plant based. We will continue to eat meat at our own peril. It isn't sustainsble, and it's vicious and unnecessary. No argument for doing so.
Great review, Bois! You guys clearly know this already but Props doesn't shy away from much of anything lol...including horrible animal abuse. Their songs always have some sort of moral sentiment behind them though. A&W has a fuckin' great plant based burger, by the way!
The riffs in the outro are just freakin' MAGICAL. I also like the lyrics about "... that have ever been enshrined in palaces."
Every riff in this song is killer. Propagandhi never disappoint

Came to tell them the same thing

That was the whole point of this intro.

Brain cell to Joel because those vegan chicken nuggets and strips are delicious!
If y'all wanna listen to this song without the intro, the 20th anniversary remaster of this album does not have the intro.

The intro is tough. Though "casual listen" is not usually an option with Propagandhi. Chris's lyrics are like a pencil sharpened to a needle point.

This song turned me vegetarian 20 years ago

Purina chooses a heroic pet every year and wins pet food.

This song made me stop eating meat In 2006
Picking steak over Propagandhi every fucking time.
I eat meat too because I’m a coward. But I would never brag about it, why would you brag or make a joke about how you’re ok with torturing animals
