    50 years ago when I was all of about 21 or 22 and I played along Broadway the town was 100% Country Music. If you knew Merle Haggard songs you wouldn't starve to death. Also Buck Owens, Willie Nelson, and classic country like Hank Williams senior ect ect. That's how I learned was by artist. They wanted to hear certain artists songs.The town was 100% country music in those days so you didn't have to look beyond it. In my personal life I was a Led Zeppelin fan but they'd run you out of Nashville for that back then. I played around there about 8 or 9 years. If you're wondering yes, I'm an old guy!

    Tim, huge kudos to you for making content like this.
    I had originally moved to Nashville in 2017 and lived there until 2021, which I had basically decided Nashville was too hard to tackle and that I would never get the exposure I need for a full time career in music.
    I now live out of state, but will be moving to Murfreesboro August 2025 to give it another shot playing at Pucketts in Rutherford county.
    Again, thank you for these valuable videos.

    Hey Tim! New subscriber here. Love everything you’re doing with the TH-cam channel. The gig vlogs are so much fun and honestly really informative. I’m primarily a guitar player and vocalist, although I dabble in bass as well as banjo. I’ve been playing guitar for just over 11 years. Currently 24 years old. Ive reached a point in my life where I’ve realized that I will never be able to forgive myself if I don’t give music everything I’ve got. I’ve always been serious about my playing, and I’ve been playing in different acts for years, but I know it’s time to move on. With emotional and financial support from those in my life who matter most, I’m planning on moving to Nashville to pursue playing full time. I’ve got just over a year to prepare. Would you recommend hustling on broadway as an effective way to start building confidence and relationships in the scene? Really value your content and time, man. Travel safe, and greetings from NC💛✌️

    Whats up man, I like your vids & laid back vibe :) Have you done any / much recording up there yet? I'd like to record some songs but not sure I want to travel to Nashville, I would think there would be some ways to do it by passing files back and forth, but don't really know ppl that do that. Thx!

    My best advice for musicians moving to Nashville: STAY AWAY FROM LOWER BROADWAY!!!! DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO THAT CRAP FROM THOSE BAR OWNERS! Find people to write with, record with people even if it's at somebody's house or garage. Play anywhere but lower Broadway.

    • @TimAvenMusic
      @TimAvenMusic  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I don’t disagree with this, but if you want to make any money when you’re first starting out Broadway can be a great beginning option

    Any advice on getting a good tone that’s affordable? Also, what kind of picks do you recommend?

    • @TimAvenMusic
      @TimAvenMusic  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I just use fender mediums. I think a guitar that you like and feel comfortable with is key. Then a good amp if you're going the amp route, a Blues Jr. is a great place to start!

      @@TimAvenMusic thank you for the quick reply. I’m getting ready to make the jump back from acoustic to electric & haven’t been sure which route to take as a mostly country music fan. Definitely looking at a fender tellie. Thank you also for the advice on picks, sometimes I feel like electric guitar & acoustic guitar are completely different instruments.

    Tim do you use the same tone live that you use on your TH-cam videos? Or do you have to tweak it to the room? Listening to this the guitar has a lot of low fullness to it but on stage it seems like you would get rid of a lot of that. Your opinion your thoughts?

    • @TimAvenMusic
      @TimAvenMusic  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes! I absolutely modify the tone depending on the room, and in a full band context most of the time I need less low end.
