I find it weird that young people say " bring back real music. This old school is better than anything we have today". We never said that in 70s, 80s, 90s,
Back in 1988, I was 24, and I bought my first brand new Mercedes - Black/Gray Leather 560SEL - This song was a hit for Pebbles and when it would come on the car radio I would blast it! Every time I hear it it takes me back to those happy days - oh yeah, its now 2010, and I still have the Mercedes!
Pebbles rocked those outfits. The way she throws her head back @ 4:38 and then smiles with a bit of attitude.. uff! Love this song. Thanks for loading the extended video.
OMG she is beautiful! I bought this album in 89? for this single and being a metalhead venturing out into new areas of music, this was just great. This song came out now.......Number one for sure.........
Pebbles is stunning. Her dresses are sexy and classy. Her voice is pure gold some of the best of the late 80's They dont make music like this anymore, this song has class and attitude, and you can actually listen and hear the words of the song! Its amazing. Most of todays music has gone down the whole. Music is not like it use to be. At least we have these awesome classics to always fall back on and remember the memories of the good old days. 80's ROCK!!!!!!
Shawn N She doesn’t look hot anymore. She’s sexy but I don’t think she’s turning heads. That’s my opinion based on her appearance on Wendy’s show. She looks More like a bitter past middle age white woman. LOL
most of her tracks were R&B and/or Freestyle. If you went to a club playing any freestyle Lisette Melendez you would always hear these tunes at the same time.
I listen to all kinds of music, all genre's, all decades. And I gotta say.....the 80's friggin' rocked...it didn't matter what you liked... alternative, club, metal, punk, hair bands, R&B, pop, old school...they were all unique and everlasting. And let's not forget MTV...back in the day when they actually used to play music videos. No wonder the 80's music gets sampled so much. Thanx for the song. Brings back good memories.
oooooooooooh yeeeeeeeaaaaa the 80's when you could have a different Mercedes for every day of the week. when you could have a matching outfit to match your interior YES LONG LIVE THE 80's
The extended version is preferred version in my book. Damn, this song was made like over 20 years ago, but it actually sounds good right now... I got bump this in my ride.
Some of y'all youngin's out there don't know nothin' bout this !!!! this is MAJOR throwback !!! Pebbles back in the day - when music was REAL - there were talented singers then !!! Loved Pebbles then and now !!! She is now a pastor in Atlanta - she got saved and now also records gospel music !!!
This song was good 👌 back in the day when music 🎶 was music 🎶 😊 on the radio station like wgci b96, and wbmx them was the good days came out in 87, the era i came from my generation im a seventies baby and a eighties child that sister can sing love her music 🎶 and her work.
+Priscilla Quao Yes. I use to wonder what happened to him. Then found out he went through a sex change. He's is now she..."Lana Houston". There is TH-cam video of him in a stage play. I was in shock. No wonder I couldn't find him. who knew?
This song was definitely the jam I use to listen to this song on America's Top 10 w/Casey Kasem, Soul Train w/the late Don Cornelius and Night Tracks on SuperStation TBS It's hard to believe that it's been 25 years ago that this song was #1 on the R&B/Soul Chart and #2 on the Pop & Dance Charts God Bless Pebbles and BTW, this song was out when Full House, A Different World, Square One TV and Classic Concentration were still on the air and CBS Saturday Mornings became known as Saturday ROCKS
Awesome song. And I'm just a 28 year old white boy. But, there was a definite soul/pop vibe about the songs that were produced during this era. It has such a clean almost airy sound to it. I dig it. Makes me think of my childhood growing up in Blackhawk Country Club in the late 80's-mid-90's. God, what kick ass memories.... Reminds me of my mom's 560 SL Mercedes back in the late 80's.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, what a great ol'club favorite!!!!!!!!! These days are very precious to me, just to remember all the good times that were had, thanks for posting this song!!!!!!!!
I remember when I was a child, visiting my grandparents in Charleston SC, and this song was on non-stop down there in 1967! My nana and Poppa loved them Wilson Pickett, and so do I! ❤
aww this was a good song! Still is. I love the way the music and the videos were made in the early 90s! Much better and MUCH different fromda today! *sigh* Pebbles is an awesome singer and pretty!
Remember when they played those remixes on the radio late nights on school nights I be up all night trying to record them off the radio stations just trying to catch the songs
Thank you..she actually did discover them, without her influence and connects in the beginning they probably would not have even made it. Have any of you all thought about that? Pebbles did not need their money she had her own as well as a wealthy husband and she was hot back then! I wonder if any of these people commenting negatively have actually taken the time to listen to Peb's side of the rumor? smh ~their business
The brother that was in this video as Pebbles' companion was a lucky man🤩 . He was in this video with Pebbles in 1987 and before that he was in Janet's What Have You Done For Me Lately video in 1985. Plus, he rehearsed for quite some time in 1985 with Janet during the choreography/rehearsal portion of her Control album.
That was around the time LaFace records started in ATL wasn't it? I heard it was off the chain back then and the music industry was very small back then, so people knew people who knew or worked with these artists and there were a lot of parties going on. I bet it was something else. I didn't move to ATL until 2006, and things definitely changed there
@@armorgan2 The song was made because of her. She was involved with 2 members of the group. This was BEFORE she was Pebbles but still using her real name, Perri.
Back in 1988 you were considered cool if people heard this song playing on your car stereo. Back then I was young and having fun...and I would blast the volume up really high on my car radio so people could hear how cool I was listening to a Pebbles song. LMAO.
I would agree.. I would love also to have all of her videos, TV apperences, the 12 inch versions, and some concert footage..however, great folks on youtube has made it possible to get what we have of Pebbles!!
This song has flavor and it tags the era it was created in. Thanks for the background info on the dancer, asktheStrawboss. I hope she is still a dancer. I picked up a few pretty boys in my Mercedes before I realized they were pretty for a reason. Wink.
She should have been paid by Stuttgart for this song.. So many people studied and worked so hard to afford a Mercedes after this song. . I know I did. I'm enjoying my 2022 SL 63... Thanks, Pebbles.
A female version of sweepin a man off his feet ......Oh yeah I'm with that baby girl !!! Great video !!! Detailed bassline!!! Thanks for sending tjhis track !!!
Lets keep it real...Pebbles is a beautiful, talented, and intelligently gifted individual! What has happened with Pebbles and TLC is a perfect example of how Hollywood and the music industry capitalizes on exploiting women. There are many women in the music industry...Toni Braxton, Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston, Blondi, Vanity, Tina Marie, Freda Payne...just to name a few...have been exploited and left to take the blame for someone else s wrong doings. I admire the courage that it has taken for all of these women to be able to identify themselves as having a unique style that has allowed each of them to contribute to the history of music. Each of these women have a rare form of class that is taken for granted, and people need to give credit where credit is due....These women are fabulous!!!
If only I had the money I would definitely try to find that C126 Mercedes I love the W126 Chassis that car is so rare today but I may never get it crazy though
With all due respect, the comments should be focus on Pebbles, how beautiful she looked and what classic-funky- jam this was and still is --- not about hate, or anything towards a dancer that Janet, Pebbles, Atlantic Star used in the mid to early 90's..I am just thankful that my favorite video of all times is available for Pebbles fans & me to watch at my lesure when we did not get BET to play the long version ( that what this should be about )

Listening to this again you can hear how much "Mercedes Boy" inspired Oliver Lieber to write Paula Abdul's "Opposites Attract".
Wow! You can hear it clear as day.. didnt know that.
Wow that's awesome video and Wonderful Job 👌👍
Omg you can hear it!!!!
💯
Love this song
The 80's were the best! This song takes me back. I remember being in love with this song when I first heard it at 8 years old.
Ultimate" Yelo - girl" !
This song was definitely the jam back in the day. All over radio.
Made to both the pop and r&b charts in the spring of '88.
Still FRESH! Pebbles is PERFECT!

We used to jam to this back in high school ('88).
808 cowbell, Stevie Wonder klavinet, funky bass line, beauiful Pebbles singing. Man this song had it all.

lol
Big Facts
My first crush as a kid!! Dreamt I had a girlfriend that looked like her!!!
Same here
Shawn N She doesn’t look hot anymore. She’s sexy but I don’t think she’s turning heads. That’s my opinion based on her appearance on Wendy’s show.
She looks More like a bitter past middle age white woman. LOL
I like how she incorporated freestyle into some of her late '80s tracks. This mix kicks ass!
I didn't pick up all that son but you know last couple of me the Tino
Yes. It really does!

One of the greatest videos ever. Peebles is so beautiful.
NIA Peebles?
No not her.
My favorite Pebbles song
This one and Always are my favorites. ❤
THATS THE DUDE FROM JANET JACKSON'S "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY" VIDEO. HE MUST HAVE BEEN THE GO TO MODEL-VIDEO BOY BACK IN THE DAY.
yeah he was in all the videos
I think Pebbles may have borrowed Janet’s hat from the video also!
Hé a woman now!
oooooooooooh yeeeeeeeaaaaa the 80's when you could have a different Mercedes for every day of the week. when you could have a matching outfit to match your interior YES LONG LIVE THE 80's

So friggin 80s. I love it!
I love 80s music.
Thanks for posting. Always liked the extended version better. I mean, this was it, this was what 1987 - 1988 sounded like.
'Boy, I'll give you anything, cruising's all you have to do!'
One of my favorite lines in the song!

The choreography in this video was on point. Sharp and tight and nothing too fancy, just good old fashion choreography.
I love you Pebbles!!! You can ride in my Mercedes anytime!!!
Thats the same dude in Janet Jackson's What Have You Done For Me Lately. Lol he's everywhere 😂
