This homily given 6 years ago resonates even more strongly now in light of the continued degradation of society and the Church. Thank you, and indeed, let us pray for Fathers, that they may be real Fathers, ready to protect their families from all the evil thrown at us daily.

I don’t know him but he’s one of my favorite priests.

An old priest once told me that your children imitate what you do and not what you say. You may tell them not to drink alcohol but if you yourself drink, they will not obey what you said bur imitate what you do.
For 25 years I put this into practice. In the morning on holidays, I did not switch on the TV. Instead, I pretended to read books. The kids began to imitate me. Today, both my sons have Cambridge degrees.

Incredible and painfully accurate homily. All Fathers - Spiritual and Parental - need to hear the hard truth in this. Listen closely, your very soul is at stake here. Pray for all Fathers.

Thank you father, you don't know how much your guidance means to me. I'm from Ireland and it's nigh on impossible to find advice that is directly applicable to the Family and that our Faith is a struggle in our Secular society. Your very words help galvanise my resolve to be better in my Family and Society at large...

Lord God, help those called to fatherhood to reach their full potential, and become who You meant them to be. Let them look to St. Joseph and Blessed Karl of Austria as role models in Christian Manhood and Fatherhood. Help them to be strong in the face of the enemy, help them to cut away that which chokes them, and strengthen that which holds them upright. Amen.

Yes healing first before being ordained. I believe Fr Calloway has been healed from his past. He has been a great Priest it seems.

    A Father:
    Guides
Forms the image of God the Father
    Protects from harm
    Provides
The only remedy for father absence is father presence

Random thought: the fact that turning off the radio on cell phones is called "airplane mode" rather than "family mode." Recently, I FINALLY got honest enough with myself to recognize my attachment to the cell phone... I've become known to all family and friends as the jerk who never responds to text messages or returns calls. Perhaps I overcorrected, but I'm not sure that's possible... I'd lose a job over and over again before reattaching.

May god let our fathers be touched and converted to those truths. May god's people trust that we ARE entirely in god's hands and need not worry or criticise those he calls. Rather, dwell in trust, charity and prayers for them.

Pray for fathers yes , absolutely . But also denunce the rampant feminism in the church, the Church is too afraid of call out their own women behavior. Every day the church became more and more afeminate. I have 28 year and I have never hear a priest advocating for traditional roles on WOMEN ( But the Protestans and Muslims does that ). Men face so much crisis but there are not ministeries for MEN. Singles men are the big forgotten in the church. I do not blame men that Detach themselves

If you are a male, you should seek to be a better man. The same thing if you are a female. But seeking to make the world a better place by changing only women is a solution full of hypocrisy. We the men should lead by serving. Not by expectation.

You shouldn't is you can avoid it !!! I am not sure how to survive it neither, Maybe eastern Catholicism isn't lost yet. For some men that is the last remaining hope to find the last decent traditional spouse.

My dear sister . i think that the western civilization is in ruins. But i am of the opinion that the religious life is a vocation and a love choice not a last resource. Try to speak in your church or your priest they'll sure listen to you.

blessing sister. pray for your brothers there is a lot a pain among the guys. The only escape for pain is detachment. That is the crisis. And women and the church aren't paying any attention the huge amount of pain that guys suffer.
