My favourite moment this year HAS to be Bambie crowning Nemo after they won. Bambie's 'catchphrase' this entire season was "Crown the witch" and then they crowned Nemo after their win!! A song about breaking the binary code won and Nemo represented both non-binary artists in their winner performance. Absolutely loved it and I hope to see more of their friendship in the future!

I agree with Gabe that Estonia is the best televote bait entry. Its just so perfect and fun and catchy even without knowing a single word in Estonian. I wish they did better with the televote. They deserved like 100+ points in the televotes
Israel televoting: it was warned long ahead of the contest that there was an organized conspiracy involving VPNs and sim cards, usable in other countries, which explains quite well the insane breadth and number of televotes for such a shitty song.
It almost makes me feel better about the whole thing, knowing that there were some people stubborn enough to waste their actual money on mass voting, cheating, and promoting that song only for it to not even get into top 3. Like... imagine all that organized effort, the whole budget on YT adds, bending the rules. And then you lose to a guy singing about missing his cat and a person making puns about gender. It makes them look so desperate and pathetic, looking back at the whole context.
@@MariaMariamuzieklove It's mindblowing, how nationalistic right-wing people are always like: "our country FIRST" and "WE are the most important"... I have to strongly agree with you Gabe. There is no universe where Croatia is a televote baiting/ joke song. Just because it won the televote doesn't change that the goal was to win the whole thing. It doesn't have the necessary silliness or focus on only appealing to the audience that true contenders like Finland and Estonia have. Only looking at the televote results would mean Ukraine and Israel were also 'televote bait'. And I don't think anyone would think that about those songs.
25:27 I hundred prosent agree with the balkan guy about Ireland. It's one of those songs that don't work so well outside of the eurovision stage. When I watched the recap of Ireland's national final songs I wanted bambie to go forward mainly because it would be remembered and it would stand out. But I had not prepared for the performance and vocals to be that great compared to eurosong.
I think that the most underrated song at Eurovision has to la noia by Angelina mango from 🇮🇹 to be the 2nd most listened to song only beaten by euorpa is crazy and shows how good the song is and I think it would be number 1 if europpa wasn’t disqualified a 7th place and no 12 points is criminal and I also think she has the best chance to become world wide famous bc nemo sinning is ridiculously good but not many people listen to opera and if they keeps that idk how many people would listen to them and joosts music is heavily built for live preforms in my opinion and also hope you are feeling well gabe and class video
Not to diminish Angelina and La Noia, she's an amazing performer with an amazing song. But Italian entries are often on top of the Eurovision streaming charts cause of the popularity of Sanremo in Italy. It's hard to say how much that impacted the ranking. Tho obviously Italy always send amazing entries!
(3 months late but anyways) Joost Klein was already very big in the Netherlands but also in Germany and Belgium (especially the Dutch speaking part, where i'm from) he has played a lot of big festivals here and we were all really rooting for him. i definitely agree he will be even bigger in the future, he completely deserves it! also lovely that the one category Belgium's nominated in and wins is biggest flop 😭 (i mean i'm half way through the video so it could change but i doubt it haha) i was really surprised he was so high in the odds and that actually made me really hopeful so yeah i was very dissapointed as well ... i would looooove Belgium to win hehe
@@Eggplant_Emoji No it wasn't. The first video was on this channel as well. And they said at the timestamp that this was supposed to be posted on his channel.
I’m confused why Italy is considered mid-tempo and Greece high-tempo: I think both are mid-tempo. Other than that, I enjoyed your discussion. I may not agree with some choices, but you both explain your reasoning well. I like the song by Spain, even if I feel it was scored properly in the final, but the message is very important.
not shocked luxembourg did better than expected. the song is dedicated to her idf soldier brother and all of the national final organizers were israeli. not shocked if she got a bump from sponsors and the televote from the few israelis that didn't buy extra phones and sim cards to vote multiple times. not that no one else cheats, but this was so blatant and should be punished.
Ukraine was definitely one of the most unique. They mixed Gospel with Rap. How wasn't that unique? Especially for Eurovision? Plus Jerry Heil was by far the most beautiful lady
The was I see it, it's a pop song with a rap verse, and that's one of the most common crossovers there is. Gospel is mostly defined by the lyrics, not really by music so I don't think it really adds much, it's not like this was a typical high-energy Black Gospel choir thing mixed with rap or something like that. That's not to bash them, I really like the song but in my opinion, it hasn't mixed genres in unprescedented ways.
@@leow.2162 It did mixed and it did it a lot better than Switzerland for instance. Gospel doesn't have to be Black to sound great. Its "high energy" was in rhythm and tuneful mixture of voices. It's not even close to be a "typical pop song" we usually get from Sweden, Cyprus, Spain every year
Hey guys, so in my opinion, this video didn't deliver as well as the first part because all of your nominees were so repetitive. it became boring to watch. I think it's because you came up with the nomination that would sort of already suggest basically the same countries would be nominated again and again. Seriously, how many times can we listen to the same snippets of rim tim tagi dim and the Greek song? Not that they were bad songs but it's just that it's super repetitive. I'd suggest to come up with more creative nominations what would automatically suggest the inclusion of other songs from Eurovision. Go wild with "friendliest/most evil delegation", "best song in native language", "funniest rhyming", "best generic song", "best stuck in the past song" etc. Having said that, I love this format, Gabe, I'm a huge fan of your youtube channel, I recently became your subscriber and I'm looking forward to your new videos in the future. Hope this didn't make me sound harsh. The reason why I also felt like sharing these thought was because I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on more songs.
Interesting. I agreed with so many things said in this video but this repeated major love you both have for Ramonda is so mysterious because that just did not happen for me. It would be my lowest ranked of the finalists because both the song itself and the staging were so boring.
As beautiful and amazing a Slimane's performance was, I cant reward such a cliche' and boring song lyric wise as Best Ballad. Best ballad performance? tossup between him, Iolanda, and Teodora
"I looove youuuu, I don't know wwhyyyy! [...] Doooon't you looove meee?" I despise the lyrics, I'm sorry Slimane. Might be cause my broken french only clocks the most basic phrases but it's so... Whiney 🙈 Great performer and singer! My personal favourite ballad has to be Iolanda, what a strong entry.
I agree with you about the lyrics. Honestly, the whole song. Slimane being so incredibly charismatic, charming, and talented, is why the song scored highly. The song itself isn't anything special, and in the hands of many other singers, it would have even been ignored. Slimane is what was special about it, not anything within the song itself.
Talking about my country 🇵🇹 Iolanda made us sooo proud, we in Portugal don't care much about Eurovision like many countries, but making two top 10s in 3 years makes me think we are doing a great job but RTP is doing a stinky job at promoting ESC here and to our emigrants abroad, beyond that they are rubbish in making Eurovision "cool" to the younger audiences.

Amer, my fieind, I grasp how significant it is to you, a Bosnian, of the timing of all those qualifications on such an ironic date. But it cant really be "the biggest moment of the year" when it applies to such a tiny fraction of the viewers/fanbase. Nearly the same thing for that press conference - very view people actually saw that and have any idea what you're referring to. For that category you really need to look beyond what was a big moment to YOU, and think about the bigger picture - what was a big moment to at least a majority of fans/viewers, if not nearly all. as Gabe mentioned a perfect example would be Latvia qualifying against every prediction. THAT shocked the entire fanbase/expert community.
Eh, I don't know him, but Baby Lasagna doesn't seem like someone who'd be calculating like that. To me it seems like he just entered with a song that was fun for him to perform. The televote liking it was predictable but not the main purpose of the song. That's just my impression, of course.
