In answer to people that don't see the point of this speaker. No it won't sound as good as bookshelf speakers or really high end sound bar but it sounds and looks good for a sm -med bedroom for. For a 300sq.ft room it sounds pretty satisfying. I have two pretty good systems w/B&W speakers as big as people in larger rooms so I'm not clueless re:high fidelity. My tv is 48" which is probably a bit bigger than I need for bedroom and it has the wider set legs so I put it up on risers I built so my tv doesn't sit on the speaker which i prefer anyways. It really sounds great (more than enough clean sound)considering size and I like the design. What I love most is it has a refined frequency balance not overly bright high end, very natural voice. I'm tempted to buy another for garage system.
Very nice presentation Ma'm Amanda. Got my unit (Bose® - Solo 15 Series II TV Sound System) about a month ago. Just a few days after it went on sale at Best Buy (less $50). The unit came with remote with batteries, power cord, RCA male to male cable, and an optical cable (TOSLINK). 3.5mm audio cable and Coaxial Cables are not included  . Am very satisfied with this unit. Delivers clear and natural dialogue, great on movie sound effects and music at any volume level. The Bluetooth is an added plus, connects easily to my Bluetooth devices (cellphones, tablets, laptops). I placed it in the children's room connected via TOSLINK to a 55" Sony Smart TV. The TV is wall- mounted. It would have been a problem if it's not wall- mounted, 'coz the TV's base is longer / bigger than the Bose Sound Base. Viewing their favorite TV shows, animated movies, and even playing their favorite PS3 / PS4 / Xbox games, the kids really love it. Not as "bassy" but it's really good enough for me. Very nice- looking, easy installation / connection, brilliant and crisp sound. And with the "Dialogue" mode, I can really hear what the actors are saying, every word and detail, clean and clear. I can really HEAR the TV! Excellent equipment! :2thumbsup:
Do you get the feeling of being in a cinema with surround sounds picking up small effects of a pin being dropped. it is just amplified sound or surround effects?
I will have to pay close attention next to to answer that. I'm so used to it now I can't honestly say. If you have a Best Buy near you mine has one on display you can check out for yourself. Also SAMs club nearby has the previous (cheap and less detailed quality still great but not as great) Bose solo 10. Or the Bose store or outlet may as well not sure if you have any of these options close by but wanted to share so you could hear for yourself if you do. Thanks for watching!
Good review. I just don't understand why people do audio clips when trying to do audio comparisons. They are pointless. There's no way to tell hardly any difference unless you are recording in 7.1 and we are receiving and have access to 7.1 AND all of your EQ settings. I listened to the recording on my phone and thru my home theater and the only difference I could tell was your mic was distorting when you switched to the Solo 15. The Solo 15 as well as any other speaker or audio device is best heard in person and putting sound comparison clips in with "unboxing" videos is kind of a waste of your time. I did really enjoy the review portion of you video so much that I bought one for myself.
I heard a huge difference and I accounted for the distortion of the bose ll by understanding the mic probably couldn't handle the amazing loud sound. So for me I deduced the quality of the bose because of rattling.
Jason Pohle People do these reviews to promote or not promote the product they are reviewing and speakers and their sound quality is a major selling point. Me personally, if I were in the market for buying one of these speakers I wouldn’t take the advice of a TH-camr until I heard the product myself in person. This particular BOSE sound plate was around $430. Before I drop that kinda change I want to hear how it performs in a real world environment and not from someone’s YT channel. They don’t do speakers like this any justice and they actually give an inaccurate representation of the product they are reviewing. The only thing I could tell from this video was pitch. That was it. I couldn’t tell if its sound was punchy, distorted easily, warm sounding or to thin. All of those qualities are important when purchasing a product that deals with sound. That’s why I said what I did. Sound samples are pointless because most people only use their phone speakers to view these “review” videos and even if they use headphones there’s still no possible way to hear exactly how that BOSE solo 15 Series 2 feels when you listen to it. Listen to it in person is the only way to determine if that speaker is right for you. Audio samples are silly for this reason because you’ll never hear how the manufacturer wants you to hear their product unless you hear it in person. That’s all I was trying to say. It’s like watching a cooking video on tv and wanting to taste and smell what they’re cooking. They can describe it to you but you’ll never get the full experience until you experience it in person for yourself.
i have recently entered into the world of audio..so what is the advantage of a soundbar over bookshelf speakers, obviously the bookshelf speakers have better audio right?..i own the polk tsx 110b bookshelf speakers which i bought for 200$ but the bose system is 500$..i just wanted to know if there is some advantage other than space saving with these solo 15 that is worth the extra 300$?....not trying to be a bose hater but asking for your opinion
I think the over 4 hundred dollar price is a rip off sales price for a Bose solo 15 sound bar when you should be able too pay 2 hundred dollars exactly for a Bose solo 15 sound bar when buying one just saying
I think the over 4 hundred dollar price for a Bose solo 15 sound bar is a stupid amount of money too pay for a Bose solo 15 sound bar when you should be able too get one for under 2 houndrad dollars from any Bose solo 15 sound bar seller
@Amanda Woosley but for what reason?? From an audio perspective it adds nothing to the demo presentation of the product you are reviewing. You Tube and/or internet Sound bytes give the viewer or potential product owners, a false sense of the quality of reproducible sound. It doesn't matter what sound system is used. It's like being on a phone call with a friend and telling them to listen to some new music you heard on the radio!!! It just doesn't sound good no matter WHAT you play it back on; the only way to even come close to a sound comparison is to tell your viewers to "check the sound quality out for yourself at an authorized Bose dealer!" In the end, it's hard to make a sound comparison on-line because the majority of people listen to and watch TH-cam videos on their crappy computer speakers. Even if they listen through a $5,000.00 sound system, it still wouldn't be able to reproduce the Bose Solo 15 sound accurately. Not even close. That said, other than that, you really did do an excellent overall job of discussing the features and the unit itself. Bose products typically sell themselves but there are those that just need to be given a little bit more information before buying Bose and you surly succeeded at that task!!
I have purchased 3 Bose solo 15 from QVC And had to send them all back. Everyone of them had to be unpluged every day because it would not turn on and needed to be reset. Bose is aware of this defect, and should Recall every one of them made In 2016. But they won't and after one year you will have to pay 50.00 to Bose for repair it, and shipping charges. Great sounding system. But very disappointed at the quality of this product.
I've got one of these, I'm so disappointed in it. I guess the sound quality is OK, but the volume is lacking to say the least. I always have it at full volume and still can't hear it if someone in the room is eating popcorn. My TV speakers are way louder. My ancient thrift store computer speakers are just as loud. So, I guess my point is...for the price, shouldn't this thing rattle the windows at full volume? Do you think I have a defective unit? My living room is small, I expected to be blown away. Instead, I'm very very disappointed. Anyway, I enjoyed your review. Keep up the good work.
Amanda, this was a bad choice for sound. Check out PSB speakers. No excuse for getting junk like this. Do some research. Paul Barton from PSB Speakers truly knows good sound. He is a good buddy of Dr. Floyd Toole and Floyd works at Harman Kardon.
+leo mart Sorry to burst your bubble, Leo. You have to start doing some honest research before making important buying decisions like buying speakers. Watching Bose infomercials on television networks does NOT count as honest research. Join AVS Forum or a similar place on web where true audio enthusiasts come to exchange information and learn a thing or two. Look, if Bose is 'top of the line' as you put it, how would you rank companies like Bryston, NAD, Krell, Bowers & Wilkins, PSB Speakers, JBL speakers and many others. Any of these companies will wipe the floor with anything from Bose. You are very uninformed and biased. You need to do a proper research. You will be glad you did.
+Raffie Quler The BASE model of PSB is $600. Dollar for Dollar, Bose puts out a very good quality sound. I am guessing you are from Canada because only a Canadian would be so obnoxious as to Promote a Canadian product and bash an American one. You Maple Leafers are just upset Lord Stanleys cup has been south of your border for 22 years.

WoW....Bose Solo 15 Sounds Powerful , it's almost hard to believe that out of the box , something powerful like that can sound. Thanks for Demo

It’s because you can still hear the comparison, even though you’re not getting the true sound - and yes, people do wanna hear that. Great review btw
