Mini racing - Is it MTC or M-Chassis - RC cars are the best

  • MTC or mini racing is the best race class for most indoor carpet tracks in the UK as they are perfect for the tight and technical layouts.
    we are not new to racing these cars as like many we started out running the Tamiya M03 which is unfortunately unavailable now. The M07 is a far superior car but does not have the same nostalgic value and quality racing that you got with the M03
    With space being the limiting factor for many clubs the MTC is the perfect size car. smaller than the 1/10 touring cars the M chassis cars are better suited to the smaller tighter tracks.
    tire compound spring rates and toe and camber are just some of the tweaks that drivers make to get their cars ready for the track.
    I ran the Carten M210F 23 which is both a Frontie and an MTC. The BRCA clubman race series heads to West Bridgford Model Car Club www.wbmcc.co.uk/
    The guys art Rage take the Carten and make it better. introducing the M210F 23. The 4wd version is the M210R which has been around for a while. This is the latest offering from Rage RC Products and Available to purchase from 28th October.
    This pre built chassis is just £149.99, take a look at how the car gets on as we test it on the track where it belongs.

    I raced an M08 (RWD) against a field of M05/M07s. Off the line, no one could catch me, but the M08 was not at all forgiving in corners compared to an M07, so I struggled a bit. At our club they would not allow any other manufacturer chassis, it was Tamiya only. I think this was because the other chassis were much more competitive. However, I didn't really care what single make we ran, but the racing was great because we were all so closely matched.

      It does not matter as long as it is close racing for us … tempted to see how a M07 would do at MTC nationals next year

    i have just built a M05 VW Mk.1 and put on all the bells and whistles, TZ superstock motor stock gearing 20t pinion Short w/b @210mm,TRF M-Chassis Shocks, Carbon shock towers,Venom Racing Alloy everywhere that can help with keeping it planted and also its ballraced & Ball Diff Also venom racing, and as its my first ever FWD car and i am loving the way it is so zippy and holds traction in and out of turns on and off power it really amazed me on how well it handle's the stock M06 Beetle with the M-chassis shocks is ok too but most of the weight is right up the end and coming in too hot in the turn well can spin out but i am really enjoying the fact of now getting a stock car and making it something that can somewhat be competitive , and yes Carl i'm also looking to find a mini M03 as would love that in the collection too but there asking silly money for a NIB kit its just bonkers , thanks for a great video as always guys cheers Mark,Carl🙂

      My first car was an m05 (before a real car haha). The body is so battered up now. One thing I've found is a good tuning aspect of it is, if you run on a fast asphalt track, a cheap speed gaining option is to shove some blue tack into the diff. Lock it up and you'll get better acceleration!

      Access to cars and spares is key
      If you can access xpress they have a few different chassis.

      We obviously race the Tamiya chassis and they make good car park racers

    What is your opinion on running a frontie MTC against Tamiya M05 or M07? With the limited availability pushing Tamiya prices up I think it's currently cheaper to run MTC.

    • @PopalongRC
      @PopalongRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All depends on local rules at your club
      Tamiya typically run torque tuned or core 21 whereas the MTC run brushless 21 turn …
      M07 have been run at MTC events but some Tamiya drivers are particular so not always welcome in the other direction

    I do wonder why all of the minis run are fwd. Rwd has more potential, I would say, that the frontie to go faster, skid into the corner, cutting it really tight and accelerate in a straight line. The rear wheel drives are more difficult to drive though, and to set up. I think the m08 is supposed to be a lot better that the m06. The motors in the middle and the weight distribution is much better suited for racing.

    • @YoShImUrA53
      @YoShImUrA53 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      M08 is much better than the M06, and well set up and driven, can keep up with its extremely capable frontie sibling, the M07. But the fronties will always have much more stability when braking into a corner. The traction exiting the corner is not usually as good of a gain over to overcome the braking performance difference.
