      At 3:10 - The route through which hominins left Africa is the Bab-el-Mendeb by the Horn of Africa, not by the Suez route. There is no evidence for that. A loop back from Asia to the Middle East is more likely.

    *REPENT!!! Repent and accept the one true god! TALOS!*
    Talos the mighty! Talos the unerring! Talos the unassailable! To you we give praise!
    We are but maggots, writhing in the filth of our own corruption! While you have ascended from the dung of mortality, and now walk among the stars!
    But you were once man! Aye! And as man, you said, "Let me show you the power of Talos Stormcrown, born of the North, where my breath is long winter. I breathe now, in royalty, and reshape this land which is mine. I do this for you, Red Legions, for I love you."
    Aye, love. Love! Even as man, great Talos cherished us. For he saw in us, in each of us, the future of Skyrim! The future of Tamriel!
    And there it is, friends! The ugly truth! We are the children of man! Talos is the true god of man! Ascended from flesh, to rule the realm of spirit!
    The very idea is inconceivable to our Elven overlords! Sharing the heavens with us? With man? Ha! They can barely tolerate our presence on earth!
    Today, they take away your faith. But what of tomorrow? Do the elves take your homes? Your businesses? Your children? Your very lives?
    And what does the Empire do? Nothing! Nay, worse than nothing! The Imperial machine enforces the will of the Thalmor! Against its own people!
    So rise up! Rise up, children of the Empire! Rise up, Stormcloaks! Embrace the word of mighty Talos, he who is both man and Divine!
    For we are the children of man! And we shall inherit both the heavens and the earth! And we, not the Elves or their toadies, will rule Skyrim! Forever!
    Terrible and powerful Talos! We, your unworthy servants, give praise! For only through your grace and benevolence may we truly reach enlightenment!
    And deserve our praise you do, for we are one! Ere you ascended and the Eight became Nine, you walked among us, great Talos, not as god, but as man!
    Trust in me, TH-cam! Trust in the words of Plato! For I am the chosen of Talos! I alone have been anointed by the Ninth to spread his holy word!

      Shammo Hamid >> a scientific theory isn't a guess. It's a collection of facts and guidelines to understand those facts. It isn't a guess like every mainstreamer think it is. A scientific guess is called a Hypothesis. It's something which is mathematically possible, but is yet to be proven in reality. Cause here's the thing.
      Math is also "just" a theory.

    I kind of wish I had gone to a religious school for my high school education. It would have been much easier. My bio class would have been only 2 minutes long, my earth science class, about 1 min long and chemistry about the same length too. "Hello, students, I am your science teacher and the administration, school board and clergy have made sure that you get the best science education on the planet. Please turn to page one in your bible. If you have any questions, the answer is 'God did it'. Test tomorrow. After your test, we will sing some hymns and hold our hands up high while we worship sky daddy, the guy who 'did it'."
    But, my parents chose a public school for me to attend so that I could get a proper education. Thanks Mom and Dad.

      saxmanchiro I'm a Athiest that goes to a private Christian school. I choose to go because of the small classroom size, personalized education and lack of harmful standardized testing. There are a lot more factors that go into choosing where you get you're education then what meets the eye. I choose to educate myself and do my own research because a lot of the public school curriculum is skewed also.

    • @saxmanchiro
      @saxmanchiro 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nate Boltz "public school curriculum is skewed.." Not in sciences. As to the other things you listed re private schools, I understand since I attended one for high school. Just make sure the school is not pushing their particular religious views re science and you are good to go.

    Phrasing matters, SciShow. Especially in topics like evolution. Statements like the one at 7:51 are not helping. Don't say "The only solution was for babies to be born before their brains were fully formed." This implies that our genes are making the decision to give birth earlier as a solution to the large head problem. Not only isn't this true, it also confuses people who are already at a disadvantage in understanding how evolution works.
    It sounds like a small thing, but I have made this clarification many times when discussing this topic and you might be surprised at how often it becomes the "lightbulb moment" for people who were unsure about evolution. You might think it's a harmless little verbal shortcut that makes it easier to explain evolution. Trouble is, it ascribes nonexistent motivation (and functionality) to our genes (a strange form of anthropomorphism) and is so obviously logically problematic that even young children spot it. Worse, it creates seeds of doubt in their minds, leaving them susceptible to the non-science of the Creationist crowd.
    Instead, say "That meant babies who were born before their brains were fully formed were less likely to die or kill their mothers during childbirth. As more early-birthing mothers survived, they passed that early-birthing trait onto their children until early-birthing women became the norm."
    Every time we explain science poorly, we open the door to non-science.

      plus many animals are born before their brains are fully developed and the human genome project showed all humans are missing a gene that shows up in most primates that give them a strong muscle that come over the top of their heads and connect to the jaw giving them more bite force but also forces the skull to close fully and earlier in life than our own.
      Here is my thing if food lead to increase brain size along with being bipedal then manny of our domestic animals who are fed better than in the wild would be showing the same signs especially rabbit and rats as we have been feeding and breeding them along with dog (who are proven to be LESS intelligent than wolves) WOULD ALL show these signs of change even horses would have show signs of this change and there isn't much change at all even with our assistance to say food caused the mutations that started in our brain to lead us to now is stupid I mean I have read about 15 papers on the subject each being like a book in itself and there is no sign that this is even close to accurate. it is just a theory a guess that has no standing but COULD be so but very unlikely it is more likely that aliens gave us our mutations I mean come on just look at the thousands of years of evolution this would have happened to at least one other animal or at least started in another animal . It is more likely that our line started to become more specialized in its DNA and got rid of excess DNA after all many things have more DNA than we do so there is more room to hide traits but more ability to adapt each generation. people are good at creating but without our tools we would be in very select places of the world and would die out quickly do to world changes.

    • @ThePenguin369
      @ThePenguin369 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicky s there's already been a sci show episode with a possible new discovery of a multiplication of a gene which could be the reason we have higher intelligence, although protein would help fuel a large brain, when you think of all the animals who eat just meat it does not create a pattern of higher intelligence vs those who don't.

    I think a few of you need to understand the difference between fact, theory, law, and hypothesis. A fact is an observation. Like there is water dropping from the sky. A Theory tells us WHAT and WHY. A Law tells us HOW. Facts are just observations.
    GRAVITY is a LAW and a THEORY. Not one or the other.
    The Law part tells us HOW in MATHs and the Theory part tells us WHAT and WHY.
    Theories and Laws are supported by EVIDENCE, EXPERIMENTS, MATHS, and PREDICATIONS.
    A Hypothesis is a possibility, an idea. It takes many of the above evidences, experiments, and maths and predictions that come true to solidify something as a theory and as a law.
    There are stronger theories and weaker theories. However evolution IS a stronger theory, having been tested more than every other theory.
    Some of our strongest theories are: Evolution, Big Bang, Quantum Mechanics, and Gravity.
    Evolution IS adaption. It is not one or the other. Being able to see how this adaption happens on smaller scales and then larger scales is truly a beautiful thing.
    Many of you have a wall up that does not want to let evolution in. For some of you this is because of pride. For others this is because you truly are not educated on the issue and for others it is because of your religious beliefs.
    I recommend researching the issue on the internet about the facts, evidence, experiments, maths, and predictions all supporting evolution.
    For example. The LAW of NATURAL SELECTION is a LAW supporting the Theory of Evolution. So is...The LAW of Fossil Succession, DNA, the age of the universe, the age of the Earth, and so much more.
    I highly recommend a class in or an internet search on HOW TO READ GENESIS. Most of you are not taught how to properly read the Bible and this is one of the gravest mistakes modern churches have done to the public.
    If you have a question, please email me. I'm happy to help. A book of mine of this very topic is called THE ANCIENT GENESIS. I'm more then willing to discuss the religious viewpoint on evolution.

      Zach Schmidt What does that have to do with biological evolution or the belief "man came from dirt"?
      Even if people fight over trivial things or humans appear determined to end it's own species, it has no bearing on the topic... unless you want to relate it to natural selection; where a species that kills itself won't survive.

    Lots of people think that before Darwin everyone a creationist or something. Not at all true. Linnaeus classified all living things accouring to their relationship with others 70 years before Darwin was born because hundreds of years before him naturalists assumed all living things were decneded from a common ancestor. What Darwin did was describe the method in which one species changes to another. Long, long before him everyone knew that they did.

      Cloud Seeker Please explain how this is rock solid evidence against God? Also, please do explain exactly how evolution works on a DNA level. How do beneficial random mutations occur in order to add (or scramble) the DNA to create a completely new kind of animal or plant? Please don't add the magic ingredient of millions of years as an answer for evolution to happen. I've never heard a decent answer to this question and I'm just curious of how you think it happens? Everything that is known about DNA changing to create a new kind of animal proves it is mathematically impossible for this to occur.

The majority of people who believe in God accept evolution, because it describes facts. The Theory explains the facts.

      It turns out to be less than 100 years old and and extinct tribe from Australia.
      IT IS JUST LIKE ALL THE EXTINCT HOMINIDS THAT DEGRADED AND WENT EXTINCT FROM MUTATIONS.
      It amazes me how silly Evodelusionism is. If you have no DNA and you dig up an extinct creature with absolutely no trail of existence after it went extinct, then it is not evidence of any form of evolution.
      It fits with all the other DNA evidence we have today on modern humans.
      There is only one path of "evolution" and that is we were put here and as time goes on we are destroying our own genetic structures from ignorance.
      If you are weak and needy, you will want the fantasy.
      If you are a seeker of the Truth, then you only want absolutely irrefutable physical evidence before making any conclusions.
      This type of evidence is all around you. Evodelusionists ignore it. That is why it is called living in the darkness of "ignor----ance".
      For over 40 years, with the first DNA testing, we have never found any form of evolution. We have well over 1,000,000 DNA studies with upwards of 100,000 deleterious mutations causing us to be weak, need medical and technology to survive. Humans have NEVER improved in any way shape or form.
      We are more tribal, separatist, hateful, and make up all sorts of new religions to keep us hating each other. Evodelusionism is the worst religion to ever plague humanity.

      Greg. Sym. No, like scientists think we've evolved a bit more, so we're now the subspecies "Homo sapiens sapiens." I'm curious what evidence (if any) there is of the evolution, like what's actually different. Or if there's no actual proof we're different, and it's just a sort of guess.

    • @justintempus7406
      @justintempus7406 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +gingergamergirl98 That's not what happened. It is suggested by some scientists, because of evidence of inbreeding, that Neanderthals and H. Sapiens are subspecies of the same biological species. If this view is accepted, it would necessitate reclassifying the two groups as subspecies. Homo sapiens neanderthalensis and Homo sapiens sapiens.

      Justin Burrows Hm. Curious. My biology teacher said that scientists think that we've changed a bit in the last several thousand years or so. He even had us answer questions on assignments, tests, etc like, "What is the scientific name of humans?" with 'Homo sapiens sapiens'. And we had to say all classifications (like from domain to subspecies) for humans as well, and again we were to say Homo sapiens sapiens. I think he only took off half a point if you said 'Homo sapiens' though.

I believe he never even saw her, but in any case she had no influence over him in any department of thought or belief. He never recanted any of his scientific views, either then or earlier. We think the story of his conversion was fabricated in the U.S.A. The whole story has no foundation whatever.

      Karp Calmari It's a common misconception -- I know I used to believe it when I believed in a young Earth -- that the idea that the Earth and universe are billions of years old is only supported by a couple of pieces of evidence, and if you can discount those then there's no evidence whatsoever. This simply isn't the case. Everything attests to the great age of the universe.
      It isn't just fossils or radiometric dating, though those are certainly part of it. It's the clear history of plate tectonics on the planet. It's ice cores that record climate information back hundreds of thousands of years. It's all of the meteor craters on the Earth, the evidence of the havoc they've wreaked, and the great apparent age separating them (compare pristine Barringer Crater with the almost completely eroded Vredefort Crater). It's supervolcanoes like Yellowstone and Toba and Taupo and all of their eruptions spanning back millennia. It's volcanic islands that have been building from the deep sea floor and are still building. It's the different states of erosion for different mountain ranges, like the Rockies and the Appalachians, and the ongoing uplift of other ranges like the Himalayas. It's iridium deposits from meteorite impacts and ash from volcanic eruptions and even forest fires that are embedded as layers in the Earth's crust, layers that couldn't possibly have been laid down by any kind of worldwide flood.
      It's the genetic ties we have to other species. It's features such as our Chromosome 2 or our inability to produce Vitamin C or our inactivated genes for strong, ape-like jaws that tie our ancestry to African apes. It's the genetic diversity of people in Africa compared to the relative lack of genetic diversity everywhere else outside of it. It's the genetic information we find in other species, like the inactivated genes for producing teeth that we find in birds or the inactivated genes for smelling in the air that we find in whales and dolphins.
      For the wider universe, it's not just the expansion of space or the light we see from stars and galaxies millions and billions of light-years away, though those are certainly part of it. It's how we witness the births and deaths of stars. It's the features, like our Local Bubble of space or distant supernova remnants or planetary nebulae, that clearly take a great deal of time to develop and are still developing.
      The entire universe screams that it is ancient, that it has deep, deep history.
      For a young-Earth believer, two options are available. You either have to demonstrate that all of these events and features were caused by natural processes within 6-10,000 years, and show that all of these processes are consistent with each other, or you have to claim that the Earth and universe were made with the appearance of age. If you choose the former, you have to demonstrate how rapid plate tectonics, dozens or hundreds of supervolcano explosions, and dozens of giant asteroid and comet impacts have taken place without boiling away the oceans and liquifying the crust. If you choose the latter, you have the philosophical problem of defending a God who at once is a God of truth who cannot lie and yet has created the universe to be a deliberate fraud.
      It's not just one or two pieces of evidence that you can dismiss with a hand wave. Everything attests to the antiquity of creation. Put another way, if God has created the universe only to look old, then he has put so much effort into deceiving us that it must be very important to him that we believe that it is all billions of years old. In such a case, I think we ought to believe him.
      Let me turn your assertion around. You can accept a 6,000-year-old creation as much as you like. There is still no evidence for it. Not a shred of physical evidence that it's only all been here for a few millennia. I challenge you to present data that could only defend your position and no other. And you don't just get to fall back on Genesis 1-3. The church worldwide has been wrong about biblical interpretation too many times (the Earth being flat, the Earth being the center of the universe, God hating the Jews, etc.) for anyone to simply rest upon a specific interpretation of Scripture unexamined.

    • @karpcalmari4628
      @karpcalmari4628 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thomas Beard None of your fossils or radiometric dating work. They pick and chose when it fits their evolution theory. They never carbon date stuff when they assume a bone is millions of years. And you eat all that shit up. There is no geologic column other than in the textbooks. Of course you're never gonna find humans or mamals in the lowest layers of earth, humans never live there. Fish like and water creatures live at the bottom of the ocean, not reindeer.
      I'm not here to prove young earth. It's not thought in schools biology classes. The burden is on the evolutionists where the evolution tale is being thought as science. Just because you can't prove evolution doesn't mean you automatically need another explanation.

    • @busydadliving6380
      @busydadliving6380 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Karp Calmari Those are the same old, tired talking points. But they don't reflect reality. Scientists don't pick and choose; they account for everything they can. Because genuine anomalies in evidence lead to discoveries, and discoveries lead to success. Every scientist wants to be the one who finds something that doesn't fit the model, because that's when you make headlines. That's when you get grants. And they do it all the time, they find things they never expected, and evolution still works. Evolution as a theory has lasted this long because it keeps getting upheld in light of new discoveries and evidence.
      You can say that fossils don't tell us anything. But they make a pretty solid column. You're never going to find rabbits in the Cambrian. You're never going to find dinosaurs above the KT boundary. Arguing that this arrangement is natural because mammals don't "live at the bottom of the ocean" contradicts the usual young-Earth assertion that the layers we observe were laid down by a worldwide flood. Yes, you should find chaos on the fossil record if all fossils were laid down by a cataclysm. But we don't. We see order in the field.
      No side is off the hook for having to provide evidence. Any scientist who is trying to overturn an established idea has to present solid arguments as to why. In my post above, I gave you twenty-something verified observations that attest that the Earth and universe are far older than 6-10,000 years and that life evolves. If you want to say I'm wrong, you have to put in the effort of demonstrating why the examples I've given you don't add up. You don't just get to say someone is wrong and leave it at that. You have to earn it.

    Question... Without having the DNA of hominids(Neanderthal not included) and flesh and skin. Is't the fossil record nothing more than just subjective? I mean Hyena's look very much like a canines (dogs) and yet because of genetic understanding, we know they are more closely related felines (cats). Just because the bones of an animal look a lot like another animal doesn't prove they are even related or even came from the same family. Many carnivorous marsupials, like the tasmanian tiger look a ton like a dog based on its bones. But because of an understanding of what they really looked like and genetics, we know that they were in fact not of the same family at all. Without these key elements, how can science know for certain whether we evolved from these animals or not? It seems to me that evolution is based to firmly on evidence that is subject to heavy interpretation and not enough on solid facts.

    • @roner61
      @roner61 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fossils and DNA are compared with evolution predictions, if they match evolution still valid.
      If you find a fossil, or a DNA result,that contradicts evolution you can say evolution is wrong: not the case at this momment in time.
      The only evidence a Creationist needs is something that contradicts evolution predictions...nobody found such thing.
      Evolution is getting more and more solid because all whats found matches it,and fills the puzzle, nothing contradicts it.

    • @Liberty-LLama
      @Liberty-LLama 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well for one thing you are making a statement against Creationism, which I don't see as a solid science either. But I wasn't talking Creationism anyway, I was making a point about macroevolution (change of one animal into another) no real scientist argues changes within a species, this is a fact and it does happen. But as far as it goes there is no such DNA evidence that has been found that shows this has happened, the only evidence might be in the fossils which are subjective and not solid evidence that any lower animal changed into another. It is left up to interpretation. I'm not saying that evolution can't teach us things, I just don't see it as a solid fact that can't fall into some level of scrutiny.

    • @roner61
      @roner61 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alma Gordon The scrutiny is continous. There are tons of people all over the world analyzing rocks,dna,fossils,animals,plants..everything.
      Paleontologists,Biologists,etc.
      But the thing is...what i said before: all that information is supporting evolution and not contradicting it, the "three" of life is getting more complete every day....and points to a common ancestor for all live creatures.

I support gay marriage, abortion rights, teaching of evolution and not Creationism, the separation of church and state and of course I believe science. The way i'm capable of believing this is that the earth is as old as science says it is and that God directed the Big Bang, the formation of Earth and the evolution of humans as science describes it. I have a very Liberal interpretation of the Bible in both senses of that word. My reasoning is that while God is perfect, his word transcribed as the Bible was written down very fallible humans. Essentially, i'm saying that the Bible has been changed and altered by humans so much that only a couple of parts are direct quotes from God. That is all, thank you and good night!

How exactly can anyone from the US support the Texas school board of education to accept books that teach that Moses was a real person (its mainstream with rabbinical scholars to accept that the events in genesis never happened and that Moses never existed) and that Moses played a fundamental role in creating the USA. Not only is it wrong and religious indoctrination but it is also rewriting the US history and changing it to suit a religious and political aganda. Its like rewriting history so you can remove the slavary the US took part in and then claim it never happened because that part have been edited out.

    After bipedalism, one of the most important changes was the accumulation of muscle in the gluteus. This allowed us to run quite fast, outpacing predators that were more dangerous on the savanna. There was a documentary I saw that went over this in good detail ("Mankind: Story of All of Us"?) Anyway, it was pretty interesting. It's why you'll notice other apes have scrawny ass muscles.

      @xm377Moyocoyatzin 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +fuzzyone99 I think you meant to say that we could out pace our prey, not our predators. We would outrun an antelope until the animal would drop from heat exhaustion. This is because we evolved the ability to sweat and stay cool; while most other animals can run much faster than us, but in short bursts, and need to stop in order to pant and cool down. We are the only animal that can run marathons. When it comes to speed we are one of the slowest animals out there, even dogs, chickens, and rabbits, can outrun us; but mile for mile we are unequaled. A horse can gallop at about 30mph yet after about a mile he starts to overheat and needs to stop in order to pant and cool down. On the other hand, a healthy human can jog or trot at about 5mph but cover a distance between 30 and 50 miles without having to stop.
