The tailbone has two very specific purposes. The first, is to fracture when you have a fall that lands you on your butt. This ensures that you will be in excruciating pain, regardless of position you stand or lay, sitting on a donut for weeks, as well as being laughed at for breaking your butt. The second purpose, is to haunt you for the rest of your life. The tailbone has declared that it is now fragile, nee, a delicate little flower, and the slightest misstep will cause it to shift its position just enough to make you howl like you've been run through with an invisible sword. It will make you think that you have broke it again. And again...and again. While there haven't been many studies to date, it is believed, by some, that the tailbone is deeply in cahoots with the pinky toe, also known as the Furniture Finder.

Try shattering it so bad they remove it completely from S2 down. You only need S1 and S2 to keep your pelvis sorta in position. And that's how dangerous riding horses can be.
@@KJ-xx6xr As fun as that sounds, I'm going to pass lol! Mine was broken in 3rd grade when a bully yanked my chair out from underneath me as i sat down. I went straight down - boom, busted tailbone. Forty years later, and I still have so much pain... a wrong movement, or if I sleep wrong, or if I think bad thoughts about wanting it gone, and it shifts its position. I am IRL having trouble walking right now, because it shifted in my sleep a week ago. If I could do the remove completely thing, without the shattering, I would be signing up immediately! :)

I'm 50 years old and still have a baby tooth. My adult tooth is up there, patiently waiting for its moment to shine. But it's sorta sideways and will need a little help finding its way when the time comes. In the meantime, this little guy is hanging on like a champ! I figure baby teeth earn interest over time, so I've warned my mother that this thing is going to be worth a fortune when it comes out, and I will be expecting some fat stacks under my pillow! 😆
My 25 hr old daughter still has a baby tooth as well. Her adult tooth is sideways in her lower jawbone and they said it would be too difficult to put in place. If her baby tooth went bad, she would need a replacement tooth.

I have 3 baby teeth, no teeth between my front upper teeth & my canines. I never have had or will have wisdom teeth. I'm 67 yrs old. The canines next to the front teeth appeared in myself & a brother & a sister. So 3 of us out of 8 have it. It's fun going to the dentist. They bring everyone in to see mt teeth. I'm a good teaching case.
I have a tooth where the normally inside pointing part is actually pointing out. I figure if I ever lose that one the tooth fairy needs to pay extra for the inside-out tooth.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU! people always say im weird because everyone has their own 'smell' - i have a very sensitive nose combined with a sensory processing disorder, and apparently people cant smell other people?? like, i know who's approaching me from behind because of smell. good to know im not insane lol
I can tell people by smell too, but doing it from any distance depends on a variety of factors, such as air flow. Glad I'm not the only one with scent-based superpowers, LOL. Are you ever able to tell other things by smell? I tend to notice pheremones once I've become familiar with someone's particular scent, so I can sometimes tell what sort of mood they're in (if it has an endocritic expression; ie, a correlated hormone or pheremone. Kind of hard to tell someone's depressed by the scent alone)

Strangely, I really can smell the difference between people. I hate the smell of people I do not know. It takes time for me to get used to the smells of people. But I hate being around them enough t get used to the smell.
That personal smell is also very important in romantic relationships.
@@angelbulldog4934 Though, I have never had a real girlfriend, I do not think my scent has played any factor in being considered heavily unattractive to the female of the species. I am immaculately clean for a male. Thus, scent can not possibly be the reason I am considered unattractive to the females. I believe it is simple. I am ugly from the neck up. Nobody wants an ugly mate, nor even an ugly friend. This describes me as unfavourable for both amicable and amorous relationships.

My butt hair theory is that it helps against chaffing. As a girl with thick thighs that are hairless I can say that skin chafing from friction is actually utterly painful.

The best thing to do is trim it short but not too much, it feels nice to the eye touch and still performing its functions.

Two of my grandparents, grew a third set of teeth after they lost their "permanent" teeth. They were sparse and small, almost like baby teeth.

I had a great uncle who also had this. About the time wisdom teeth grow in he get a few new front teeth.

I've got a full set(4 teeth), "below" my wisdom teeth, technically kept behind and back by them. I had one of my wisdom teeth pulled and a new tooth grew in, kinda freaked me out because my dentist, who had spotted them on the x-rays, hadn't told me they were there.

At 7 (in the late 70's before sonars) they took out my appendix just to realise it was extremely healthy and I was still in really bad pain. They sent my appendix home with me in a bottle, I wasn't too impressed. After a x-ray taken they saw I had two huge cysts on my ovary. I can't remember how they treated it only that one nurse was extremely cruel and refused to bring a bed pan and forced me to walk. I can still remember the pain.

My theory about our vestigial remaining areas of scant body hair is that it usually is found around openings into our inner bodies… with the exception of underarm hair which simply was left in a protected area . .. my idea is that it served as a sort of deterrent to harmful disease carrying flies and insects and helped to protect our vulnerable body openings .

Unfortunately, I've always had too much fluid and wax buildup in my ears. Ironically, my doctors have instructed me to actually use qtips to wick up fluid and remove excess wax-though they taught me safety techniques so that I wouldn't endanger my ears in any way. So, that age old never use a qtip thing isn't universal, but does require some safety training under a doctor's care to make sure that you're doing it right. Most folks don't require it at all.
Dude your doctors are morons. It’s been well known for a while qtips are horrible for your ears. They were never designed for ear wax. They were designed for cleaning the outer ear not inside
And I can say this because I deal with chronic excessive wax, no ENT would ever recommend using qtips to clean out ear wax

Same, if I didn't clean my ears I wouldn't be able to hear. Everyone on the internet things they know better then our doctors though.
Same. If I skip cleaning them a day or 2 the clear/very light yellow liquid wax will turn amber-colored and become hard and crusty. So its easier to just clean it every day, focusing mostly on the canal entrance.
I always assumed butt hair was to help with friction reduction, scent dispersal and ventilation when sweating, passing gas and pooping.
I've experimented with this theory a few times by after shaving the hair around my anus. Each time, I ended up devloping pimples between my cheeks, chafed badly, had a buildup of sweat between and at the bottom of my cheeks, had issues releasing gas since the scent bubble literally got trapped between my cheeks and had to roll up and out to escape (the popping of which I could feel on my lower back), and finally, I noticed that I produced much smellier, more forceful, and more audible gas. Regrowing my butt hair got rid of all of the above issues.

I pluck my butt hair in odd moments. I've gotten used to it over time and I just focus on pulling as much as once after a twirl. It's friendlier than extensive shaving, which I feel at the gym.

The doctor removed my appendix during surgery that was for something completely different. He said he removed it as a "precautionary measure." It REALLY upset me!!!
That's really messed up, especially if there wasn't a risk to your health by keeping it there!
Did they explain tho? Did they see signs of inflammation and then said "Aw snap, this patient is gonna be RIGHT back here within days if we don't remove this" or something like that?

@@gokucrazy22 Around may be ok, it's when it grows in the cleft that you can have problems. I had to go through four excisions in two years because of Pilonidal disease. It took up to six weeks for the wound to close. During that time, I had to clean and change the dressing two to three times a day. Not a lot of fun.

My understanding of why humans still have body hair is to feel parasitic bugs crawling/landing on us before they are able to bite. Thus protecting us from diseases transmitted by them.

My first proctologist remmove my long (5-7) inches of hair hanging from my butt hole. It would always get covered in poop and hang in the toilet bowel water.

The answer to butt hair is #3 for chaffing. A process I have done is to shave only 1 side of the area at a given time, which removes excess hair from a single side with zero downsides, if done properly. The next time, (a week or so later), I shave the other side with the same results and keep the hair shorter and more manageable. If both get shaved at the same time there are many problems, mostly related to sweat as the skin cannot breathe. So, only clear one side at a time because you need SOME hair down there to counteract sweating, getting rashes, and chaffing.
This dedication is alarming.
As a former cancer patient, chaffing 100% is the answer. I lost most of my body hair during my my second round of chemo and I have been telling everyone for years how much we take butt hair for granted. With no ventilation all moisture in that area stayed in that area, leaving each step feeling like two buttered hams sliding past each other. This quickly led to irritation, and a stomach wrenching odor. Be glad for your butt hair!!!
I have very little butt hair. The hair I have is very fine. My ass constantly smells due to sweat and I do get rashes quite frequently. However, I also liked theory #2 - animals and smell. A lot of animals greet each other by sniffing butts. What if we used to be butt sniffers too??

Laser hair remove for butt hair is best
Q-tips are actually fine as long as you don't push into the ear canal.
I use them to scrape lightly around the edges, putting a little pressure on to the canal as possible. You can still remove a decent amount of superfluous material without pushing it further in.
The problem is, your instinct is to just drive it further in and start scraping, and most people don't even know where to stop in the first place. So really, it's better just to tell people don't do it at all.
Massaging the space between your ear and your jaw/cheekbones and wiggling your jaw around can help break up a blockage. Holding your breath and blowing or sucking can also help to move material around and eventually drain into the sinuses.
A warm moist rag over the ear may also be helpful.
You can try using fluids. Warm water or even air can help somewhat, but can be unpleasant, and if you're careless, could be harmful to the ear drum.
I've seen mixed opinions on hydrogen peroxide. On one hand, it's excellent at eating ear wax and can absolutely clear a blockage. On the other hand, it's highly corrossive, and will dissolve any biological matter it can. Giving that unfettered access to the inside of your face can be obviously problematic. I've seen first hand where a kid's eye started bleeding moments after recieving H202 through the ear. He turned out fine, but it was definitely a brick-shitting moment.

The appendix is basically an external hard drive and/or a system restart for your intestines. It stores a backup of the essential operating system and any major updates it may have learned.
If your (intestinal) system gets wiped, the appendix can attempt to restore it to a previous functioning state.
My second daughter had her wisdom teeth taken out and she had a teeny, tiny extra one in the roof of her mouth. So she actually had 5 wisdom teeth. I guess that made her smarter in the long run.
I had a wisdom tooth removed because it causes headaches. Got an X-ray before the surgery and learned I really only have that one single wisdom tooth. I'm definitely not a wise person lol.

I have an extra tooth (if there were more it would look like a third set of teeth) under the middle of my bottom jaw. It isn’t completely formed which means if it ever pushes on the other it will have to be surgically removed from below

I love the appendix. I am a scrub nurse in the NHS in the UK. I first started in the 90s where appendicitis was a young person(4- 20) disease. Over the past 30 years it has moved through the generations and is now very common in the elder generation. I learned about the appendix upgrade from a vestigial organ to now, where it is thought to have a minor part in digestion. I suppose that the human body has to cope with our ever changing diet. I love the beauty op the human abdominal cavity. I has its own life. The colours are stunning. Yellows, pink, purple(ok so this is not something that any Surgeon would like to see). I find it amazing to actually see the peristaltic motion of piece of the small bowel. I actually recently saw Meckel’s Diverticulum, a first in 30 years of being a nurse. I’m still learning loads.
Interesting. I wonder just what it is about diet that has shifted the age issue with appendicitis. My mother had to have her appendix removed in her early seventies, as a side effect her life-long gluten intolerance also went with it. wtf?

@@michaellavery4899 Hmm, no; a diverticulum is a kind of pouch that forms in the wall of the, usually, large-intestine, rather akin to a tyre inner-tube would bulge through a gap in a tyre-wall. Your 'bend' would, under normal circumstances, be referred to as a flexure, but that can under certain conditions result in a strangulation of the bowel. Of course, in other scenarios and professions a 'bend' would in laymans terms be a knot. Then there are conditions such as intussusception, with is an entirely different bowel situation, and thats not something to be taken lightly, although in some cases it can spontaneously resolve.

There have been numerous times, when talking to nurses who work in specialist wards, have I been blown away by the depth of their knowledge about many fields of medicine.
I had a friend who studied nursing and went straight into care homes. I studied mainly biochemical science but even he reluctantly agreed that I knew more about anatomy and physiology than he did.
Incidentally, since reading your comment I saw a video about diverticulitis and the myth that sufferers should avoid nuts and seeds.

Do you have Cherokee ancestry? Some are known for growing extra adult teeth besides the usual wisdom teeth.
When I got my permanent front tooth knocked out by a baseball, I grew another one! The dentist said I had another set and that it was a rare thing but there were more people with a third set than they realized. If it didn't happen to me, I wouldn't believe it either!
17:30 I run a lot (10ks, marathons, ultras). If I shave down under, the chaffing gets much worse. So I don't shave. I can trim though, but not that much. In addition, if I'll run above 1 hour, I need vaseline, and tight fitting shorts. Yes, evolution made us into long distance runners, but only for the most motivated hunters: "to chafe or to starve, that is the question"
If you do a lot of bending and lifting and a lot of stabilising hefty, awkward objects you rapidly learn a major function of your gluteus maximus. The amount of strain that it supports when your legs aren't completely straightened is significant.

@@mafic3351 They're kind of obscure to the general public but tend to get the attention of zoology nerds because they're interesting oddballs. Hyraxes are African mammals that kind of look like a huge rodent at first glance. They're actually relatives of elephants and manatees, essentially being a branch of the lineage that stayed the rather generic smallish furry mammal body plan instead of growing big and fairly hairless with specialized anatomy. They are fairly agile and there's documentary footage of them climbing and resting in trees (it's a circumstantial thing I think - they're not arboreal by nature - I think it's in an old Attenborough series). Plus, they're kind of cute which never hurts an animal's popularity.
They also have hooves and not claws.

Everyone knows that you're not supposed to clean your ears with q-tips, but everyone does it anyway because it feels so freaking good!
Normal people won't understand this, but those of us who have been to prison and had to wait weeks and weeks and weeks to get money on your account just so you can buy some coffee and q-tips.... You learn to appreciate those little cottony buggers...
I love my wisdom teeth! When I was around 9 I had to remove four of my molars due to them lacking enamel. Instead of having a gap, my wisdom teeth filled it and I now have a full set of functional teeth! :D I see the wisdom teeth as a small backup.

Ultimately isn't that the same thing lol? You had to remove 4 molars, while most people have to remove 4 wisdom teeth. They cancel out in a way
@@sadkritx6200 Yeah they sorta do. But my teeth problems had me go through 2 operations and I removed in total 4 permanent teeth and 7 child teeth, so that sucked. I already dealt with it so I'm happy about that.
This makes me think it would be better to preemptively remove the back molars instead of waiting until your wisdom teeth have been beating up your TMJ and face from the inside for ages
I would guess that butt crack hair as well as axilla hair also help suppress the creation of anaerobic environments in body folds by allowing air in between the strands of hair. Anyone who has ever worked around inactive and morbidly obese people can tell you just how much fun those folds can be when they cook long enough without any air circulation.

Same holds true for armpit hair. Just after shaving, the sweat smells worse because of the tight airless seal the skin creates, but at the same time it is much easier to wash it off instantly and dry quickly, also anripersperants work better. So it isn't worth shaving too often, but having the hairs short rather than long is beneficial

I think most people know that. I was much more interested in Elephants being able to grow 6 sets if needed. Just earlier today I found out that they don't get cancer and now I find out if I was an elephant I could've replaced my two missing teeth and never had to go through a horrendously painful root canal for a third.

Sharks are cartilaginous fish called _Chondrichthyes._
Other fish like trout, carp, bluegill, etc., are bony fish called _osteicthyes._ Actually, lampreys and hagfish (jawless fish) are actually fish as well.
Wikipedia has a pretty good page on them all.
Oh, and yes, sharks (except the sharks in _Finding Nemo_ ) do like to fish.
Though for my tastes (pun NOT intended, truly), the Angler fish is the classiest fisher in the sea. She actually does fish. (And she provides for her male buried in her flesh.)
How nice would it have been if at like 40, we started to grow our 3rd set of teeth! Dentist would go out of business lol.
Fun fact: Wisdom teeth are normally not pulled in a lot of countries. A dentist will pick a rear molar that's the most worn and pull those teeth instead. That allows the wisdom teeth to naturally come forward and the patient has new rear molars :) and the process is way less painful compared to getting impacted wisdom teeth cut out of your jaw. Unless the wisdom teeth are so impacted that they are cracked, there's really no reason to get them pulled. I had to threaten to report a US dentist to get him to pull 2 rear molars with failing fillings instead of cutting wisdom teeth out of my jaw. Those wisdom teeth came in beautifully after about a year.
Loved this video. For butt hair: we as human have (generally) hair around sensitive areas that we need to keep for reproduction, like genitals, or "body holes" that are susceptible/sensitive to environmental harm. For example head hair to avoid damage from sunlight incidence, nostrils hair to retain airborne pathogens and allergens, eyelashes for the same reasons and eye protection, hair in the ear canal or microvilli for protection as well as the same functions as nostrils, etc.
Butt hair evolutionarily may have emerged for preventing small insects and other little animals to get into our body (as we were not wearing clothes/underwear thousands of years ago). Many insects and small coprophages are attracted to 💩 and humidity, so the hair can get them entangled and prevent them to keep going in ;)

I went to my university’s student health in a panic one day because I suddenly couldn’t hear out of my right ear. It was just earwax! I was so embarrassed, but the nurse who flushed my ear told me it was super common.
I have dry flakey earwax and I’ve always been very confused why people were grossed out by earwax, or had body odor. At least until i learned about earwax types

here's a weird new idea: earwax perfumes! lol, this eill give you the scent you wanted to have lol you can collect earwax from many people (beautiful men & women and average men &women), if dry, grind them up to powder, and if wet, let them dry then crush them. turn their powdered earwaxes to perfume by mixing them up in an unscented oil base. have them put on roll ons and choose your smell for the day...
I was always confused and horrified when I would see someone clean their ears and have a big old chunk of brown stuff come out. My ear wax is almost entirely clear most of the time and not much more viscous than water. Led to a lot of ear infections when I was a kid cuz it's not really doing much except for irritating me until I shake it out like swimmer's ear 😅

I suppose human hunters (only humans have obscuring but cheeks that can produce such audible flatulence) would often alert their prey if their farts were audible. Butt-hair presumably & reasonably does suppress the resonance of flatulence for moderately sized butts.

When I was 14 I had my tonsils removed due to a investigation why I had an immune response resulting in a "cold" inflammation in my joints. I had in that time mild throat inflammation in my throat and they've said my tonsils must go because they might be the underlying cause of the whole thing. Years later they have discovered I have an autoimmune disease called Bechterew (aka Ankylosing Spondylitis) doe to a antibody called HLA-B27. Since then I am much more susceptive to viral or bacterial infections because my first line of defence in my throat has been removed. Removing the tonsils is still a very common practice where I am from (Hungary). I am worried that many more young people will suffer the consequences in later life without knowing how vital this organ is or was to them. I am now 44 and need to keep a close eye on what I eat or think twice if I washed my hands before taking any food because the very next thing I notice is having a diarrhoea or runny nose. My defence has been compromised by well educated doctors believing this organ can be removed without a price to pay.
I'm legit and genuinely sorry you've been affected by your removal, and your example is a great argument as to why we shouldn't, but I am also a great example to argue that sometimes it should be done
@@happyfacefries Surely there are reasons the removal is beneficial overall. For example an acute inflammation of the tonsils which being too close to the brain can pose a real risk for further and more serious complications. Or can also inflame the pericardium (the thin layer the heart is covered with). But to think some organs like the tonsils or the appendix have so little reason to be in your body is the wrong way of thinking. There is always a trade off. Luckily the body is very good at adopting to challenges.

I still have my wisdom teeth because my dentist said he wants me to keep them and try to take care of them, that my mouth is big enough for them. You are 100% right. Here’s a question: if everyone had a unique scent based on their microbiomes and stuff, does that mean identical twins will smell the same too, or are the microbiomes more responsible for the smell, which I assume could develop differently in twins considering it’s more about what kinds of bacteria are favored because of their diets?
Identical twins should still have different scents. While their genes may be the same their gene expression(some genes can turn on and off) can be different, their diets are different, and then of course there is the microbiome. Even something like mood and stress level should be able to influence it thru hormones.
i'm guessing sweat smells differently based on diet as well.

My dog is a trained man trail dog and while it was more challenging at first for her to get to the correct family member, after few tries and errors she got it right, mums, siblings and twins be damned. So yeah, they definitely smell differently, but a family resemblance seems to remain.
I’d be interested to see the results of this. Simple. Find a set of identical twins separated at birth and adopted by families in different geographical regions.

Sad for me because at the age of 11 I had to have it removed because of some kind of infection in my stomach which almost had me. It had caused me so much pain, that even moving my body from left to right while laying on bed was so painful. I wasn't able to walk too since the pain was so much. I felt hard like a rock. Though when I reached the hospital, I had to use a wheelchair. That is someone pushing me of course. But after that, the surgeons called for an Emergency operation and was saved and still saved from what could have been my death.
I'm a professional soccer referee, which means I run an average of 200 miles a week as part of my job. I started shaving my butt and legs about 2 years ago, and have noticed no changes to chafing around the cheeks, but there was definitely an increase in thigh chafing.
These intellectual people have so many interesting matters to discuss, I never thought I needed answer to all of these questions...you guys have gained a humble subscriber, well done and thanks!

On the subject of wisdom teeth and jaw size:
I have always speculated that the my family’s larger jaw size may have something to do with our diet. I grew up on a cattle ranch in Montana in the Eighties and Nineties, and let me tell you there were some lean years. We grew our own vegetables and ate the cattle that were too injured to save. There were some REALLY good steaks, and also some incredibly tough ones. The veggies were sometimes terrific, sometimes stunted and woody. I recall a number of times that I paused eating, not because I wasn’t hungry , but because my jaw was too tired to continue chewing.
Our family dentist insisted on pulling my lower wisdom teeth as soon as they crowned around age 19. (Like my father, I never developed upper wisdom teeth or adult eye teeth).
Now, I occasionally cut up my lower gums because of the lack of matching molars. I have to chew with an underbite to match molars in the back of my mouth.
On a side note, I still resent my dentist for insisting on pulling my oversized baby eye teeth so he could replace them with virtually identical implants. I have to floss after every meal to remove the food particles that accumulate under the implant caps.
I regret shaving my butt hair when I was a teen. Those newly growing butt hair were prickly as all hell!
I actually went through six rounds of very expensive, laser hair removal in the cleft area because I was prone to Pilonidal problems.

I was an intense chewer as a kid, gum, pens, pencils, really anything I could chew on. My wisdom teeth grew in perfectly straight, not impacted.

On butt hair: As someone who once shaved my butt hair, I have experience as to the differences between having and not having it. One reason is that it prevents small chunks from getting too far if you fart. The other, and the main reason I stopped shaving, is that the hair traps sweat. If you don't have it the sweat runs down your legs which is super gross and annoying. It's also a pain if you don't keep it shaved due to chafing. The reason I started shaving it was curiosity and I noticed it did make it far easier to clean after pooping.

I'm 24 and all 4 wisdom teeth grew in great. As a kid I chewed a lot of hard food and so I got a wide jaw to accommodate all the wisdom teeth. My sister had to get hers removed as she ate soft foods and had a slimmer jaw

Vestigial means that a structure has lost its original purpose. It does not, however, mean that the structure is useless. Things like the appendix fulfill a purpose, just no longer their original ones.
And in some cases, we're not entirely sure what function vestigial traits perform. Although the current function of some vestigial traits is not exactly vital, such as with the appendix. Then there are other traits that still perform their original function, but also serve another purpose in modern humans.

I had a pilonidal cyst while I was in the army, being a typical soldier I didn’t want to go to sick call, be told it was nothing, and then be accused of “shamming” when I got back to the unit with a “return to duty” sick slip. But it was a bump right at the top of my butt crack, a little to the right, and it *ITCHED* when I had to sit for long times (driving in convoys, classes, etc.) I’d press on it and a watery pinkish fluid would come out, though when it itched it was more opaque and yellowish. It never once hurt.
Anyway, this went on for a year or 2, until one night we were on the way back from the rifle range and I was sitting on the wooden troop seat in a 2 1/2 ton truck. My cyst itched like never before, and it was pure murder having to sit around cleaning weapons, turn them in, and wait for everyone to get done.
Finally everything was clean, we had formation, and were released. I went right to my room to take a shower before bed, but first I started pressing and poking at the cyst. Foot on the toilet seat, bent forward, standing straight, leaning to one side or the other, trying every position I could think of to press from a different angle. All of a sudden I felt a POP, a flow, and sweet relief. In my hand was what I assume was a mix of hair, blood, dead skin cells, sebum, dirt, etc. It was a couple inches long and actually looked a little like an earthworm.
This was about 25 years ago and it’s never come back. I still have a dimple where it was, though. Watching Dr. Pimple Popper has told me the sac was still in there but it’s never grown back.
I can just imagine the ancient, pre modern man pick up lines: "damn girl! You hunt with that ass?!" 😆

I think reducing chafing is the most likely answer for butt hair. Keep in mind that chafing can also occur when wiping, which historically might've been done with less soft objects such as wood, rocks, and shells.

I owned a rat with a crooked tooth, he needed it shaved down every few months. You would think an animal with only four teeth would be less prone to mistakes.
@@bedtimeat8 Are you implying rats only have 4 teeth? Because they definitely have more than that. Each side of each jaw has 3 molars as well, so 12 total molars, plus 4 incisors =16 teeth. We just don't see their molars because they're so far back in the mouth, and they lack canines or premolars.
I've learned so much from Hank Green and crew over the years. I'd proffer one small correction: nic·ti·tat·ing membrane instead of nic·tat·ing.
About the earwax problem: I have used the "q-tip" method my whole life and never had a problem with it. My mother and wife OTOH used the flushing bladder with liquid or went to the doctor to fix thr problem. Both of these methods ended in fiasco, with the situation worse. Of course eventually it was (sometimes partly) fixed, but not without pain and time.
As I said I have never had a problem, maybe a clogged ear 2 - 3 times in my life. Now I don't do this often maybe one time a week or more often less than that.
Btw, I never push the earwax IN, I position the tip max in without touching the sides of the earcanal and then "scrape" the sides of the canal in a spiral movement out.

I've once shaved my Butt Hair and I can vouch for reason no.3. It does help to reduce friction and rashes when you walk, especially in summer when you sweat a lot. NEVER EVER GONNA SHAVE MY BUTT HAIR. THEY ARE PRECIOUS

If you keep a good track of what your ear wax is doing and you insert the q tip without pushing Then you can gently twist it around and scrape off ear wax around it and then pull it out without ever pushing it back in. that's not impossible to do. It's not only messy, but it will get on anything that you use around your ears, like headphones.
My favourite vestigial structure is not in humans, but in snakes! My pet ball python still has vestigial legs, and I think that's so cool!

Hairs provide lubrication and are also tiny, slender log-like rollers that let the two skins glide back and forth over each other with minimal impact.
Obviously, your butt cheeks slide back and forth and even high-five each other your whole life. Hair in this region helps immensely with reducing friction to minimize pain, discomfort and potential abrasions to the skin which could allow bad bacteria to infest as well as increasing random air flow between the two. Our DNA doesn't know we have powders for this now, but we've only recently had alternatives.

I was really lucky to have naturally straight teeth. All my highschool friends had to get braces, and some people didn't believe me when I told then I never had braces myself.
But, y'know, I'm one of the many people who needed to have their wisdom teeth removed. Something seemingly went wrong during the healing process and it had my gums recede in the far bottom left corner of my mouth, which exposed a hole below my last molar. I had my wisdom teeth removed in 2008 at age 18 - I had to get several fillings on that molar because of food getting stuck in that exposed gap, until I had to get root canal surgery. Worst dental experience EVER.
But it didn't end there. The pain persisted because root canal surgery doesn't actually kill sensation to the tooth. In 2016, the tooth broke while I was eating (eating RICE, of all things). I had to go and get it repaired, which was expensive, and they put a crown on it. Lost the crown. Tooth broke again. They put another crown. It didn't help.
By 2020 or something, I had had enough. I went to the dentist and told them to pull the tooh. They still tried to convince me to get another crown, but I knew they just wanted my money, so I put my foot down and said NO. Pull the goddamn tooth.
From getting my wisdom teeth removed at age 18, I'm now 32 and have 31 teeth. The pain is gone and the rest of my teeth have fortunately shown no sign of shifting.
tl;dr Teeth are frickin' weird but please take care of them, and make sure to find reputable and trustworthy dental professionals.

The reason we have butt hair is the same reason we have other hair. To increase the evaporation surface when we sweat. That was concluded a long time ago. Head hair insulates against heat stroke and only get sweaty when it hot or we work out which makes it slightly different than body hair.

I'm one of those mutants that never grew wisdom teeth. It caused confusion at the dentist's office until my mid 20's when most people have had them removed already. My mom didn't get hers until her 30s, which caused a lot of weird questions at the dentist's office and from her friends. When I asked my dentist about that, he told me that I don't even have the space for them nor the root or whatever he called it for them to grow at all, that my mouth is too small...
My mouth was too small so they grew out the sides of my gums before they took them out.
People are increasingly being born with no wisdom teeth. It seems the human species are in the process of developing less teeth as a result of smaller jaws. I reckon it's because we eat less raw food, so we don't need the extra jaw strength needed to grind raw vegetables/meat. It does kind of beg the question what are our mouths going to look like in the distance future. Small with very few/no teeth and the loss of certain muscles because technology has given us a way to get the nutrition we need without 'primitive' grinding and cutting?

I was blessed with a single wisdom tooth as well as gum/enamel disease. So not only did I not get a full set of chompers, I started having teeth shatter and fall apart in my 20s. In fact, I'm currently waiting for my insurance company to approve the extraction of the remaining teeth in favor of a full set of dentures. Looks like we get 3 sets of teeth after all!
Hi everyone, concerning the "Butt Hair", from my own experience, after having undergone several chemotherapy treatments and like most of the people who have experienced this, I lost all the hair on my body...when I started to walk again and before all the hair grew everywhere, I had irritations in the parts that are not exposed to the sun and where the skin rubbed agains skin (I needed to use some medical cream)... so in my opinion: theory nb.3 is the right answer
