    Love your videos! Thanx for sharing! Bought the exact trike last Friday here in NJ. I learned a lot from you and Shawn Smoak. We're having a beauty November here in NJ. Three Harley Dude friends and I went for a nice 120 mile ride today. Third ride since taking delivery. Gained a lotta experience and confidence today.

    That is an awesome machine....
    After many years of riding two wheelers, I started having difficulties riding due to a leg ailment.....
    I was only left with a few options.... Trike convert my current bike...a 2008 Kawasaki 900 Vulcan Classic - buy a ready built trike - buy a Spyder or just give up riding in the breeze all together.
    The high cost of the trike conversion and the high cost of a ready built trike, ruled those out.... Giving up was not desirable, so that left the Spyder option.
    I ended up buying a 2009 RS SM5 Spyder from a lady who rarely rode it...
    I must admit, it did take a few days to adapt to the differences of riding it compared to a motorcycle, but I now just love riding it.
    Even the 2009 model has most of the features as standard.. ABS, Traction Control, Stability Control etc.
    It did take me a while to to get used to having no front brake lever, but the all in one foot brake stops it on a dime.... without lock up, even on a wet surface.
    Reverse gear is a bit scary at first...you must try to leave the throttle alone when reversing...it has the same power in reverse as it has in first gear.
    I found that the big rear tire will aquaplane if you hit a patch of water on the road, but the traction and stability controls will kick in and endeavor to stabilize the machine.
    By the way, prior to buying my 900 Classic, I owned a 1996 GL1500 GoldWing Aspencade.... I absolutely loved that bike, but that's when the leg problems started to show, so I very reluctantly sold the Wing...
    The GoldWings and the Spyders have a few critics out there among the biker fraternity, but I found that when you ask them if they have ever ridden either of them... the answer is usually no... (they don't know what they are missing.)
    Ride Safe and Ride Far - Cheers - Dallas

    • @chriscaliente5033
      @chriscaliente5033  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol, not true. When you switch from a 2 wheel, to a 3 wheel, the dynamics of a motorcycle changes, it's not a motorcycle anymore, even on a goldwing trike. The can ams, and GW trikes are very nice, good for people that don't like balancing two wheels, but on a spyder in a traffic jam, your stuck like a car. Their are advantages and disadvantages to everything, I just prefer my 2 wheel Goldwing overs a Can Am or Goldwing Trike.

      dbest1a Vlogs My brother is 62, I'm 20 years younger, maybe in my older age I will consider 3 wheels, but right now I prefer 2 wheels across the board.

      Hecam17 Do you take the Spyder out on road trips? whats were the most miles you put on it in a day.

    • @Hecam17
      @Hecam17 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Caliente 240 in a day. Live near the North Georgia mountains and have plenty of great riding within 200 miles. Actually bought it in Birmingham and had a 180 mile ride to get home.

    • @chriscaliente5033
      @chriscaliente5033  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      My brother claims that the bike wiggles side to side as he's driving, so now he only drives on city streets, because of fear of the interstate. He will not drive over 65 mph, and he complains about engine heat, I really think that the problem is him, and not can am. I hope to be riding his bike soon and giving my personal review and my thoughts of who should, and should not buy a Can Am Spyder.

    • @Hecam17
      @Hecam17 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Caliente Keep in mind they feel like riding a quad not a 2 wheeler. Lean your body into a turn but the bike does not lean at all, at times it feels like the bike is pushing your body high side away from the turn. If it is jumpy or pulls while going straight it may need a laser alignment. Spyders come to dealer partially disassembled in a crate and alignment is not part of reassembly. If it pulls in turns he should look at a BajaRon anti sway bar, HUGE difference in turns at speed, especially if you are riding 2 up. A gentleman in the Knoxville area makes them.
      I also had to learn to loosen my death grip on the bars. No heat problem but I wear jeans and boots - AGAT.

    • @chriscaliente5033
      @chriscaliente5033  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree with all of your points. Why did you have a death grip on the bars, can you explain?

    Dude that Can Am couldn't see 200 mph off a cliff with it's current aerodynamically design plus it's only 115 hp. I think 200 km [120 - 125 mph] is more realistic.

    Hello Chris I'm James. For the past 6 years I've been trying to find a mode of transportation that I could drive and enjoy, the catch is I'm permanently disabled With Cerebral Palsy which not only affects how I walk but also means my ankles are straight but at a bit of an angle so a foot brake would be tough to handle, I know it is possible to utilize a hand brake but I'm not sure where to get one, I'd most likely go with the Spyder RT since it has more room. Also on licensing, as far as I understand it all I'd have to do is get a 3 wheeled license from a Can Am driving school in my home state (Maryland) then take a 3 wheeled skills test which can be taken on the Spyder. Could you please help me verify if my info is correct? Thanks.

    • @chriscaliente5033

      Mark Williams Most definately Mark, the Spyder is so easy to ride, even for new riders, If you can operate a car, you can drive a Spyder. You have no worries about balancing like on a motorcycle, riding a passenger is also easy. Check out other videos in my library, and subscribe if you like, feel free to leave honest feedback.
