P.s. the lyric
"Change your name or change your mind"
Means that when she got divorced, She didn't want to change because thats how everyone remembered her
that makes so much sense. wow.
The story behind it is so sad. I got to meet her when I was around 9 years old, because my dad is contact with her husband. She was the sweetest woman. She passed away a few years ago. I’m so grateful for the music she left for us. She was truly a light in the world.
Edit: By her husband, I meant Jonathan, not Phil. :)
Wait your father was friends with phil-
@@im_camilas_fav Not Phil, fortunately. My dad was in contact Jonathan Greenfield, the man she was married to until she passed.

"I'm leaving Phil, I'm leaving now; I'm going to escape but you won't know how--or where to find me when I'm gone. I'll drink myself to death inside this prison cell. This prison cell"
That's actually really scary ngl.
“Ronnette my dear don’t ever disappear”
“We’re the Christmas kids, we’re nothing but gifts”

Help my brain. My mind freaks out each time I listen to it like I have a full-out freak out 💀💀💀
The fact that the lyrics are 'you'll change your name , and change your mind and leave this fucked up place behind , but ill know ' is pretty close to this story
Ronnie and Phil both adopted one child together, whereas on Christmas day, Ronnie was gifted with a pair of twins from Phil himself. She never gave the okay, and the children were also locked in their rooms with buckets as toilets.
Rip Ronnie may she rest in peace
She did not deserve Phill he was nothing but a good for nothing scumbag
"do what you want, as long as you stay here" that makes so much sense now
in loving memory of VRB, one of the bravest women ever
the line "the christmas kids were nothing but a gift" stems from the fact that Phil quite literally adopted twins as a christmas present.
Phil looks like a whole Alternate from the Mandela catalogue
He probably is fr.
Who’s Shalissa?
It's like uncanny since the eyes scares me.
“Ronette my dear don’t ever disappear”
“We’re the Christmas kids we’re nothing but gifts”
“You can change your name or change your mind”
“And leave this fucked up place behind”
“But I’ll know, I’ll know”
Wow I didn’t think this had a terrible back story thank you for teaching me now it all makes sense. Just thinking about the I’ll know part I can’t imagine what she was going through.
It's "the christmas kids, were nothing but a gift"
RONNETTE, MY DEAR, DON’T EVER DISAPPEAR
Do what u want as long as u stay hereeee
Its so heartbreaking that we have ppl like this in our world
this changes the song from comforting to absolutely terrifying. Phil got Ronnie twins for christmas so that she would get emotionally attached and not run away? thats terrifying.
The songs makes me cry because in the South Park movie it's sad and then they become the heroes of town
the fact that phil and ronnie are clearly the people on the album cover makes it so much more terrifying.
Don't forget that he threatened to put her corpse in a glass casket if she ever tries to run away.
That explains why he says, "if you ever try to leave me, I'll find you Ronnie." That creepy😥
yes very creepy indeed
Knowing the meaning has made the song way creepier to listen to

Ronnet my dear don’t ever disappear
"You can change your name, or change your mind. And leave this ------ up place behind but ill know"
That part is so much deeper now
And that's why the lyrics are "if you ever try to leave me ill find you ronnie"
The song is about producer Phil Spector's abusive relationship with his wife Ronnie Spector. Phil Spector was a music producer who was known for his innovative "Wall of Sound" production technique that was popular in the 1960s. He was married to Veronica "Ronnie" Bennett, who was the lead singer of the girl group, The Ronettes, between 1968 and 1974.
According to Ronnie, Phil Spector was controlling and jealous, and he would often physically and emotionally abuse her. She described incidents where he would pull her hair, hit her, and even threaten her with a gun. She also said he would isolate her from her friends and family and force her to stay at home and not work on music.
The song:🕺🏻😁😀
The back story💀😢🏴☠️🌚
The fact “I can’t handle change” is in the same album makes it horrifying. Knowing the backstory and the fact the album cover has Phil and Ronnie

"Youll change your name. Or change your mind. Or leave this f***ed up place behind. But ill know." It gives me chills
Live laugh love ROAR😍😻
may she rest in peace
Also, he tried to make her stay by adopting/talking in some kids on Christmas day or at least near Christmas like on Christmas eve(I think) so she was guilt tripped into staying, but left anyways, and it's why it's says "the Christmas kids were nothing but a gift" and "love is a tower where all of us can live"
"Life's hard when you're soft" my grandpa, before he died, he aaid to me (i was 9 or 10) "they've done gone and yelled at you too many times, you used to be tough as a nail and now you're scared of everything" and then he went and died when I was 10. He was my best friend.
I used to vibe to this song, now every time I hear it I am terrified.
"You'll never disappear" "ill know" those lyrics feel very discomforting
Also, "if you try to leave me ill find you ronnie" JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY
He also dated ronny when she was a minor and he was 26, not to mention, he dated her when he was already married. (He also murdered a woman)
Bro, that is my favorite song. I didn’t know that. I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE ONLY SWEET SONG THAT IS LISTEN TOO! :O
Well now i know why i cried everytime i heard it.
My favorite song....
" Ronnie my dear, don't even disapear
do what you want as long as you're still here. "
That changed everything about this song
That’s why she leaves this fucked up place behind
I feel bad for that woman but I'm glad she ran out and escaped
So proud of her
She left just like the Lorax!!
yes
And may never come back with the milk
Bro this is my comfort song😭
Here’s the full explanation :3
Roar is a Phoenix, Arizona hard rock band formed by Owen Eagan’s in the late 2000s. In 2016, Evans started moonlighting as the touring drummer for fellow Arizona-based folk-punk band AJJ, but he continued to release records as roar. “Christmas kids” is a track from roars 2020 debut EP, i cant handle change.
This song is about producer Phil Spector’s abusive relationship with his wife Ronnie Spector. Phil Spector was a music producer who was known for his innovative “wall of sound” production technique that was popular in the 1960s. He was married to his wife Veronica “Ronnie” Bennett who was the lead singer of the girl group “the Ronnettes” between 1968 and 1974.
According to Ronnie, Phil Spector was controlling and jealous, and he would often physically and emotionally abuse her. She described incidents where he would pull her hair, hit her, and even threaten her with a gun. She also said that he would isolate her from her friends and family and force her to stay at home and not work on music.
(Song lyric:)
Appearing unsightly
With devils inside me
If you ever try to leave me, I’ll find you, Ronnie
“Phil Spector was said to have hidden his wife, Ronnie’s shoes so that she couldn’t run away”Evans detailed to the Phoenix new times. “He was rumored to have threatened his wife with a glass casket he kept in the house saying that he would display her corpse in it if she attempted to escape. Spector was simultaneously writing and producing trite, catchy, pop songs for teens.” The title refers to the twins Louis and Gary Spector that Phil reportedly coerced Ronnie into adopting one Christmas in attempt to salvage their marriage.
(Song lyric:)
The Christmas kids were nothing but a gift and love was a tower where all of us can live
Ronnie eventually filed for divorce against Spector, citing irreconcilable differences. The singer later wrote in her 1990 memoir, “be my baby”, that she feared for her life during her marriage, and her mother helped her to escape from him. Lois and Gary Spector also accused of their adopted father of engaging in likewise behavior towards them. Roar released “Christmas kids” as a single on march 14, 2010. It entered the UK singles in 2023, 13 years later, after trending on TikTok.
Basically the writer was abusive to his wife and adopted kids on Christmas so she can be emotionally attached to them and not run away and he hid her shoes for the same reason.
Ofc Phil always had a face like he was a criminal, abuser, and he didn't let Veronica break up with him because he said that if she did , he will kill her, and she is extremely gorgeous
“if you ever try to leave me i’ll find you ronnie” damn now that sounds scary

When the song says “the Christmas kids were nothing but a gift” they say that because Phil adopted twins for Christmas
And their kids were adopted for Christmas hence the line Christmas kids were nothing but a gift

nah bro its still a good song
The backstory is more terrifying than I expected..
Phil: abuses ronette
Ronette: runs away
The Lorax: lifts himself and flies away
That’s why the Lorax leaving and this song are relatable
phil looks like a drunk skinwalker trying to imitate someone
Phil Spector didn’t want to be left, so that’s why he hid Ronnie’s shoes . Phil deserved better😢
HE LITERALLY ABUSED HER
bruh
The christmas kids were nothing but a gift..

nah its Phil he's the problem
Ronnie was too gorgeous for phil.
fr tho idk what she was thinking bro
Phil's face looks creepy which makes him kinda look like a villain.
In my opinion christmas kid is sad song
yeah
And he adopted twins for them as a "present", even though she didn't want kids. Hence the name.
After watching this, the song has a completely different feeling

The part "The Christmas kids were nothing but a gift" finally made sense
" and leave this f*** place behind.."
And the reason it’s called Christmas kids is that he adopted two twins on Christmas to try to get Ronnie to fall in love with them to get her to stay forever
