1.7.10 nostalgia baby here. Still think of it as the golden age of modding and am completely lost when it comes to the modern modding scene. So I might as well mention some mods I still have fond memories of. - The first to come to mind is the one I'd first installed Forge for: it was a very wonky "Necromancy" mod that allowed you to gather mobs' body parts (and internal organs), and create Frankensteinian abominations by sewing them together and reanimating them with lightning. It also had two neat 3D scythes I was very autistic about at the time, hah. - One amazing mod seemingly forgotten by everyone is Intangible. It was made by Emoniph, the same one who created Witchery, and existed only for the 1.8 versions. It revolved around extracting different types of souls from mobs and using them to power various mechanisms, such as a claw/gauntlet that could cast spells, a way to leave your body and possess other mobs or players, customisable golems you could also possess, and an insane lategame where you could build *gods* into existence, worship them for supernatural favour, and summon their avatars as bosses. A shame the creator disappeared without a successor. - There was the Lion King mod, which had very fun questlines and excellent aesthetic, though by the time I played it I couldn't remember a single thing from the Lion King movies. It also had these inherently hilarious little creatures called "dikdiks." - For a short time, there was a very popular mod which let you apply various 3D accessories to your character model, visible only to others who were running the mod. This was way before I even had non-pirated Minecraft, and when I tried finding it again a month later, it seemed as if it never existed, but I believe various TH-camrs made videos on it - might try looking it up once more, though it seems to have been largely succeeded by mods such as Essentials and Armourer's Workshop. - Lastly, there was Ars Magica 2, last updated for 1.10 for which I will forever weep. It had a one-of-a-kind spell creation mechanic I haven't seen any other _game_ -(Well, except for maybe Noita)- manage to replicate, allowing you to customise spell effect, shape, appearance, and so on. Of course, for that very reason, people tended to keep it out of modpacks for fear of it being OP. Thankfully, it seems to have two different successors in Ars Nouveau and Mana & Artifice... and another one called Wizardry, which similarly never moved past 1.12.2.
MCHeli was truly one of the greatest aviation mods that ever dropped into Minecraft. I believe there is a 1.12.2 version floating around somewhere, but it really never got past 1.7.10. I hope someone revives this mod in the future!
when are you going to include the necromancy mod in one of these videos? you know, the one where you can combine parts of different mobs to make any freaky Frankenstein creature you could possibly want? that mod was so cool.
Funnily enough I remember a different invasion mod infinitely more. You set up a block to defend and waves of monsters would try to break it by slowly progressing and getting stronger and smarter, destroying and creating ways into the structure housing it. You try and see how long you can last before the block is destroyed. I loved combining it with other mods to see how good of a defense I can manage.

One of my favourites growing up was "Custom NPCs". Making entire armies with different factions took up a lot of my time as a kid. "Gulliver's Travels" was also another one I messed around with. I also really loved "Modular Powersuits" which I never hear anyone talk about but apparently it's updated to 1.20 and has over 12 million downloads so I'm not sure what's up with that. There's also "Mutant Mobs" which isn't exactly niche but is still mostly stuck in the past. "Adventure Craft" was also a lot of fun back in the day, especially as a big Zelda fan
Never have i *EVER* forgotten Clay Soldiers. I just randomly thought about that mod earlier this month. Without it I wouldn't still be trying to run Mini Empire servers a decade after lol

Maaaaaan, IC2 (and in extension, Gregtech), and thaumcraft were two of the largest mods that consumed my time playing Modded mincraft. Wish either would get picked up again and brought to 1.20
GregTech is still maintained, but the mod developer has made the choice to stick to 1.7.10 alongside a small portion of others (Reika's mods are also an example) that didn't want to rewrite their mods for 1.8 and above. There are unofficial ports to newer versions as far as I know. Thaumcraft has been picked up by the CoFH team (the guys behind Thermal Expansion) and is being ported to newer versions IIRC.
Clay Soldier Mods is one of my favorite mods made. I remember making arenas for them to fight in. I remember spending hours building maps and then spawning all the units and getting the parts to give them weapons, horses, etc. just to have a 3-5 minute fight, but it was always worth it
I remember having lots of fun with a mod called Hack Slash Mine. It got discontinued super quick and I always wished someone would bring it back one day. Man I can’t believe that was over a decade ago now..
I loved Millenaire so damn much. When I was a kid I spent hours in creative mode giving the villages with so much resources and watch the villages upgrade and expand themselves. Iirc you can also make them wage war with each other.
Fun fact about Cory Scheviak: not only is he the creator of Tropicraft and an organizer for Love Tropics, Cory also became a Minecraft dev back in 2018(Just like how Kingbdogs created the Aether mod then later became a Minecraft dev)
Clay soldiers mod actually inspired me to buy Minecraft. When I did get Minecraft java edition, the mod didn't hold up to all the recent and modern mods so I didn't even play the mod. I'll never forget the clay soldiers mod because I wouldn't have found out about Minecraft earlier if not for the clay soldiers mod. Also does anyone remember the alien vs predator mod or custom npcs?
I remember messing around with Electroblob's Wizardry, I *loved* that mod. It adds magic in a way that feels pretty vanilla friendly (Not quite as much as something like Spells & Shields, but much more vanilla-friendly than stuff like the plethora of tech-y magic mods), so I'm happy to hear an unofficial port in the works! :D
Minecraft Comes Alive- stopped in 1.12.2, but it was incredibly funny and thorough, especially with the villager editor (that used to crash my game sometimes).
Chocolate Quest is another one, there’s also a team working on Chocolate Quest Repoured to bring it to newer versions. You could maybe do a video about old mods and newer counterparts like Cobblemon/Pixelmom, Chocolate Quest/CQR, and Orespawn/Chaos Awakens (a project, a bit unlike CQR, as it’s entirely reworking and enhancing Orespawn content, still very early in development though)
To answer that one question, I feel you're too used to saying "Tears of the Kingdom" that you say "Tales of the kingdom" instead of "Tale of Kingdoms" I know that feeling.
tropicraft was my go to mod back then whenever i was a wee redstoner, the items from the mod are just so pretty. same goes for clay soldiers, i REALLY hope someone makes a new version of it, it'd be so fun to have the little clay friends back.
An old one that I loved and I don't think you've covered, The Erebus. Or, the bug dimension. It never got passed the 1.7.10 wall iirc, but the mod was great for adventure seekers.
Erebus might not be further updated for a while now. However this mod didn’t end on 1.7 like witchery for example did. Erebus did get updated to 1.12.2 just like Galactictaft did. Whether it got new content or just got ported, I don’t know. But Erebus can also be played in 1.12, in fact, I did with a friend. We fought the tarantula boss and got to see all those insects, and the dreaded wasp as well. Since you‘ve addressed the Erebus, I‘d like to list some more mods that ended on 1.12.1: Abyssalcraft The Betweenlands Galacticraft OpenBlocks Morph
NGL, I have a separate modpack specifically for Millenaire. I literally consider it one of my CORE mods because of how much fun it STILL is. I hope it gets updated once again.
That thumbnail unlocked some core memories, I loved watching the clay soldier mod back when I was little cause I didn't have minecraft on PC and didn't even know how to mod it
Witchery was actually made popular by SSundee, but hey, cant blame you for making that mistake. he had an extensive long=running series in which Witchery was most prominent due to it allowing him and crainer to constantly prank each other with various curses and voodoo.
Wow.. These are forgotten mods huh.. I think I still have many of them in my Minecraft mods folder, it's funny how time flies and how I enjoyed those days so much, but hey, things happen.
I'm honored two of my suggestions commented on the last video were used as the top 2 in this one! Just now got around to watching this. I so miss the days of Minecraft that I experienced as a child. Minecraft felt more like a world to get lost in, whereas now in modern Minecraft there's goals and progression that can tend to make the game feel more like a chore than an immersive experience. Thanks for the nostalgia!
clay soldiers and millenaire are eternal classics to me but tales of kingdoms is making me tweak because i remember seeing the mod in tobuscus' old minecraft series when i was a little kid barely learning how to speak english through youtube videos and this is unearthing core memories
I remember having really fond memories of playing with early versions of Thaumcraft back when it was just kind of a janky mess; retextured silverfish that turn into normal ones at the drop of a hat, items with metadata bordering on what Minecraft could handle back then, as well as mechanical jank like stopping cauldrons from spilling their sludge by just surrounding them with pipes. Another mod that has long been forgotten, but laid the groundwork for so much was mDiyo's inficraft. I still laugh at how he had the idea of being able to make tools out of varying materials where each material had its own unique properties to the tool, but the easiest way for him to implement that at this early stage was to just make a unique item for every possible combination of materials. Now there are several mods that have continued it legacy, from mDiyo directly he made Tinker's Construct, but there's also Tetra Tools as well as Silent Gear now filling that niche as well.
Millenaire has always been good for a fun time. I would install different mods to go with it, things like mo creatures and aether. There was another I remember installing called the magic wood mod, which would add additional trees into the world as well as their respective subblocks including chests. I was legitimately shocked when the villages used some of the blocks from the magic wood mod. It wasn't extensive, they just used what trees were in the area during generation, but it sticks out in my memory as a unintentional interaction between different mods.
A few mods I remember fondly that I feel are more forgotten than most are 1. Sim-u-kraft 2. Pre-pre historicraft 3. The Sync mod by IChun along with the Slenderman mod he made. Lastly Steves Carts
I remember Bibliocraft and I miss it, I remember checking the website just to see the progress on Bibliocraft, I hope the author behind it is doing something they enjoy, regardless of they’re modding or not.
Millenaire is what got me interested in history in the first place, I was always fascinated about how the Normans have Norse ancestry and the Byzantines are essentially just medieval Romans. I still hold to hope that it may someday update to 1.16.
I remember Flan's mod being one of the most played mods at the time. Sadly, it didn't get updated enough and it died. Sometimes i feel like i am the only one still playing the mod
So remember gulliver's mod and combining with tiny blocks mod and i remember the recipe was with a dirt block and combine this with the clay soliders mod
I’ve never forgotten bout Clay Soldiers, it was the first mod I ever installed back when I was like 12! That and little blocks, I made a small to-scale Colosseum for them to fight in!
Two mods that came to my mind while watching this video was the RC Control mod where you had different remote controlled vehicles that you could drive/fly around and the big Star Wars mod where you had lightsabers, force powers, speeder bikes, space ships and so on
The OG Minecraft license included the ability to monetize your mods but idk about the rest of that stuff the guy did and I def don't know if he had that license
No, monetizing mods has been against the EULA for a LONG time, that’s why the Orespawn dev stopped updating the mod and was petty enough to try and scrub it from the internet.
Man,I remember when redstone lamps first released while I was a kid.It was such a great leap forward, alongside all the technology-based mods that it spawned as a result. Anyone remember Bluezephos being utterly incredulous at Sips & Sjin creating a fccking black hole bomb?

6:54 I remember yearning for this mod, it was so damn cool!
I love tropical settings! I’ll use it as reference for hyun!
bro said the mod author for mc Heli was Japanese then immediately proceeds to kamikaze a plane into the ground
That could have been an epic segway to one of those food delivery sponsors 5:18
I remember having lots of fun with a mod called Hack Slash Mine. It got discontinued super quick and I always wished someone would bring it back one day. Man I can’t believe that was over a decade ago now..
It was actually updated fairly "recently" to support new Java versions. Still on the same Minecraft version though.
I loved Millenaire so damn much. When I was a kid I spent hours in creative mode giving the villages with so much resources and watch the villages upgrade and expand themselves. Iirc you can also make them wage war with each other.
Tropicraft and clay soldiers were my favorite mods back in the day. Thanks for reminding me :)
Tale of Kingdoms was so ahead of its time, man. One of my favourite mods in history.
This video title could not be more accurate. I had COMPLETELY forgotten about clay soldiers. That mod was so much fun
tale of kingdoms, clay soldiers, and millenaire are my all time favorite minecraft mods just for how much they added with what little they had
There was "little blocks" it made nimi block sort of like chisel and bits
Minecraft Comes Alive- stopped in 1.12.2, but it was incredibly funny and thorough, especially with the villager editor (that used to crash my game sometimes).
mca reborn is the remake of the mod for modern versions and its quite popular
As a witchery lover, i miss it, i keep playing my modpack just to keep it in my heart and alive.
Bro, this is nostalgia 13:33 ❤
Chocolate Quest is another one, there’s also a team working on Chocolate Quest Repoured to bring it to newer versions.
You could maybe do a video about old mods and newer counterparts like Cobblemon/Pixelmom, Chocolate Quest/CQR, and Orespawn/Chaos Awakens (a project, a bit unlike CQR, as it’s entirely reworking and enhancing Orespawn content, still very early in development though)
Hours? I spent WEEKS building Clay Soldiers arenas back in the day. Such fun times
To answer that one question, I feel you're too used to saying "Tears of the Kingdom" that you say "Tales of the kingdom" instead of "Tale of Kingdoms"
I know that feeling.
tropicraft was my go to mod back then whenever i was a wee redstoner, the items from the mod are just so pretty. same goes for clay soldiers, i REALLY hope someone makes a new version of it, it'd be so fun to have the little clay friends back.
I could never forget the Clay Soldiers mod, it's honestly one of my favorite mods.
Since you‘ve addressed the Erebus, I‘d like to list some more mods that ended on 1.12.1:
Abyssalcraft
The Betweenlands
Galacticraft
OpenBlocks
Morph
Thank you thank you ryan, I was searching tale of kingdoms mod for a long time.
NGL, I have a separate modpack specifically for Millenaire. I literally consider it one of my CORE mods because of how much fun it STILL is. I hope it gets updated once again.
That thumbnail unlocked some core memories, I loved watching the clay soldier mod back when I was little cause I didn't have minecraft on PC and didn't even know how to mod it
tale of kingdoms struck me with the most nostalgia ever, holy before i had minecraft i binge watched playthroughs of it
I recently bought MC and the first mod I downloaded was Clay Soldiers. I’m so glad to see people haven’t forgot about it
Witchery was actually made popular by SSundee, but hey, cant blame you for making that mistake. he had an extensive long=running series in which Witchery was most prominent due to it allowing him and crainer to constantly prank each other with various curses and voodoo.
Wow.. These are forgotten mods huh.. I think I still have many of them in my Minecraft mods folder, it's funny how time flies and how I enjoyed those days so much, but hey, things happen.
00:23 is that the crazycraft animation parody monsters mod thingy
Minecraft mods are something special
A few mods I remember fondly that I feel are more forgotten than most are 1. Sim-u-kraft 2. Pre-pre historicraft 3. The Sync mod by IChun along with the Slenderman mod he made. Lastly Steves Carts
Ive been looking for clay soldiers for ages! thank you!
4:50 have the bewitchment mod, is the continuous of witchery
Ill never forget witchery, other mods have tried to do similar but man witchery really had it perfect.
I remember Bibliocraft and I miss it, I remember checking the website just to see the progress on Bibliocraft, I hope the author behind it is doing something they enjoy, regardless of they’re modding or not.
The thumbnail alone takes me back, back to a time where i made areanas for those guys to fight in.
the clay soldiers omgg, I felt like nobody else remembered that
The last three mods were my favorites as a child its making me want to play minecraft again and rewatch the Yogscast adventures.
I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT FORGET CLAY SOLDIERS I HAVE SO MUCH MEMORIES W THAT
Damn. Those clay soldiers are some hard nostalgia.
tale of kingdom and millenaire were my favorites as a kid it's nice to see them get recognized
millenaire was not abandoned but instead evolved into Minecolonies, still updated to current mc and far more improved!
Funny enough, Witchery is actually in the recent "DawnCraft" modpack.
Im unsure if its a remastered version.
it’s called Bewitchment. DawnCraft’s a dope pack
I remember DanTDM & Skydoesminecraft covered the
clay soldiers mod at some point.
i remember lion's king mod, it was also completely new dimension and sadly stopped being updated
Sometimes i feel like i am the only one still playing the mod
millenaire is my favorite mod ever and it feels like no one other than me and like 10 other people actively remember it. best village mod ever!
those clay soldiers are ingrained in my head from Dantdm, I don't remember most episodes but I vividly remember his clay army one
So remember gulliver's mod and combining with tiny blocks mod and i remember the recipe was with a dirt block and combine this with the clay soliders mod
Clay soldiers mod was such a neat little idea.
I’ve never forgotten bout Clay Soldiers, it was the first mod I ever installed back when I was like 12! That and little blocks, I made a small to-scale Colosseum for them to fight in!
Clay Soldiers gets me so excited! My favorite minecraft mod as a child
THANK YOU FOR COVERING MC HELI
Two mods that came to my mind while watching this video was the RC Control mod where you had different remote controlled vehicles that you could drive/fly around and the big Star Wars mod where you had lightsabers, force powers, speeder bikes, space ships and so on
Oh these mods. Back then was so pure😭. Miss those
Chimneyswift’s Tropicraft series was peak.. good times 🥲
Also checkout NetherCraft mod. Maybe the oldest nether expansion mod.
Aww man I remember wanting to play with the Clay Soldiers so bad but not understanding how to mod as a kid
Yes 🙌 Finally Witchery made it into this series!
The OG Minecraft license included the ability to monetize your mods but idk about the rest of that stuff the guy did and I def don't know if he had that license
No, monetizing mods has been against the EULA for a LONG time, that’s why the Orespawn dev stopped updating the mod and was petty enough to try and scrub it from the internet.
honestly someone should just remake orespawn at this point i remember playing it with my bro when we first played modded Minecraft
Man,I remember when redstone lamps first released while I was a kid.It was such a great leap forward, alongside all the technology-based mods that it spawned as a result.
Anyone remember Bluezephos being utterly incredulous at Sips & Sjin creating a fccking black hole bomb?
blocklings, luckyblock, elemental creepers and vampirism are underrated nowdays
Another old mod that got a bit popular was the Hack and Slash mod. It turned the game into an rpg with classes and overhauled a lot of mechanics.
