Ren's Love Music 4 comes out this week! Maybe catch up on at least pt 3 before the release? They don't need to be watched sequentially, but you can definitely see how he's leveled up with each one.

Tidbits from barrington levy's "murderer", damian marleys "welcome to jamrock" and dr.dre's "the next episode" and ini kamozes "world a music (out in the streets they call it merther)" that is a sample on welcome to jamrock in there. Filmed on August 8th in Los Angeles. Fun fact: "Merther" is basically the term for listening to reggae while smoking weed. The "merging" of it. Just loved it very much. Oh and also: There is a version of "murderer" from barrington levy featuring none other than rakim himself.
AND it came out on the birthday of hip hop. Which makes the dre bit even more significant. Also because LA. :D

Ren seems to have an inner metronome. It seems almost inhuman that one person can keep the timing between everything he has going on at one time. It is like seeing a movie that is being written, directed, and acted by one person on live television all at them same time.
He was self-taught so he didn’t have his music teacher force him to tap it out like everybody else did
great reaction! Yours is the first reaction that I've seen where the hand signals Ren gives the other guy got pointed out. That shout out to Conner and then commenting on the abstract shot was perfect, I've seen said that this was Connor's first time recording a video. Ren covering Ren is musical magic in the making :)
It made me think of Money Game 1... probably glad he's getting hand signals vs slapped with gloves or the guitar yanked from his hands 😊
Ever since I saw an early reaction to Violet's Tale, I have been obsessed with Ren's 'metronome'. As far as I have seen so far, he does not tap his feet to the beat! The reactor to Violet's tale noticed that every second from when Ren looked up the stairwell, to the conclusion of Violet's beating, was actually on a silent beat despite all the 'drama'. See how Ren's co-guitarist taps his feet throughout the song, but Ren does not?
Also just to add, many talented musicians actually ALWAYS have to tap (or some use hand/head movements depending on their instrument/style) and often these external "metronomes" are totally involuntary, and really they aren't an indication of a musicians skill, plenty of people are extremely talented but need a bit of help keeping time and that's ok!

The second I watched the performance I KNEW you would pick on the hand sign for the other guitarist to stop!! I love the way he plays with pronunciation and intonation and melodies in this acoustic version, he always manages to surprise in the best posible way. He loves playing with his own music and giving it a different twist and it's always magical. Pure talent right there
That solo feels like Django Reinhardt playing blues licks. It's such a vibe.

Ren has talent and musicality from head to toe and all the way out to the tips of his fingers. I think I love this version even more with all the little scatting bits and the added/changed melodies. Just brilliant. The GOAT in the rabbit hole kills it again.
Also was really cool how you’re both noting how he is being kinda free with his scatting/jamming but also completely in control of the performance and his vision. It’s extra cool because you’re someone who has been on set and seen how he works up close and personal. Can’t wait to see Money Game part 3 and for you to be able to talk more about it! I love wrens!! I have a pair that nest under my porch! I love all kinds of wrens right now though! The ultra rare Ren Gill variety is at the top of my list! Dude always amazes me and the Dre bit there blew me away because, while I should've known he would do something like that, I never expect it!

I love the way Ren's verbalization of gunshots corresponds to his spoken rat-tat-tat lyrics created a gun-fight vibe that wasn't in the original.

Part of this is a reference to Damian Marley as well as the other references you noted. It's amazing how much he changes the style and tempo of his acoustic tracks. Love it.
Probably the Damien Marley version I agree, but let's not forget that the original was by Ini Kamoze in world a reggae which long predates welcome to jamrock!
Love to see a collaboration between you, Black Pegasus, Anthony Ray, Justin Hawkins, Rosalie & Ren - you all would bring something different to the table.
The "Out in the street they call it murder" and the bit in the hook "murederer" is taken from Ini Kamoze's song called 'Muderer'. The first part was also used on Damien Marley's 'Welcome to Jamrock'.
This is more like the Barrington Levy version of the song that inspired Ren to make this track live acoustic version of thus song. So incredible and Barrington Levy's track is one to react to as well it's great.
So, I have a theory on his new album. Because Ren does Ren things I think the whole album is going to be his story of his music journey to this point.
Murder will be towards the beginning talking about when he has his wild younger days, like he points to in Power. Then it'll move on to Love Music 4 and Money Game 3 as he moves into his deal with Sony. The tie in being the first 2 Love Musics on Freckled Angels.
Then as he descends into the illness and psychosis he faced is Animal Flow with all the masks etc.
Next up will be Sick Boi as he starts trying to get a diagnosis. Then suicide as he hits that wall thinking he can't face it. Then Illest of Our Time as he starts to come to terms with it.
Then towards the end will be Hi Ren as he comes to terms with who is and what he's been through (and because starting with Hi Ren would be too obvious).
Obviously there's more songs to go but that's my guess as to how hell structure the album.

When I was first heard Ren, I didn’t think it would be something I would enjoy, but halfway through the first track I heard & gave a chance to, I was sold; made me give more of his music a chance. This man just keeps growing on me. That’s when you know you’re making something special.

finallyyyy i was waiting for someone mentioning that Ren is directing and giving signals whilst singing and playing. Of course you spotted it right away.
Reason you got that reggae vibe from the opening line, is because its from a reggae song lol. It was also sampled by Damian Marley in his song "Welcome to Jamrock". I love all reggae influences Ren has and expresses, you can tell musically, he is very cultured.

About location, you guys probably don't know that John Mayer is one of Ren earliest influences in guitar playing - finger style. In his prime, before health issues with his voice 2007 John Mayer make a huge consent in L. A. There's DVD is turned in to gospel. The beginning of it starts with John playing on this hill(or close location with this view) before the start of the concert.
So basically Ren paying Homage to John Mayer too 😉
They say the average human only utilises, and scientist have only discovered about 10% of our brains actual capabilities (yes, it’s a myth) but I’m sure if we could measure this, Ren’s would be at least 95%, at freakin least! Definitely reggae inspired, even the original was although those not familiar with reggae may have missed that on the original. The chorus is directly adapted from Barrington Levy's Murderer. And the addition of this intro is another nod to reggae classics, originally heard in "world a reggae" by Ini Kamoze ... And then popularised in "welcome to jamrock" by Damien Marley... So he was i suppose actually channeling Bob via his son :')

I'm nearly certain that, from 'HI Ren', his relaunch is very carefully orchestrated. From imagery to story to overall concept and message.... Theres a long game here. He's giving us a world building type with his vision. There's a greater thing happening here that we're yet to see. I'm all in.
