      Using a PT01 scratch for vinyl control is a setup I haven't considered, nice tip!

      The NS7 II is a beast of a controller!

    Thanks for the thorough review. I'm moving up from the DDJ-SB2 trying to decide whether to go with another 2 or a 4-channel controller for those gigs that I don't want to haul the 1210's out to. And, like you, I'm more inclined to go with a 2-channel. I don't necessarily need all the bells & whistles of a 4-ch., but I do want a sturdy, more professional deck.

    • @PDot
      @PDot  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great point, hardware makers seem to be saving their "higher end" materials for their 4 channel controllers. The only 2 channel controller with a more professional build is the SR2 in my opinion.

    How is the sound quality? I have the Roland-202 and I encounter annoying bugs on basic functions (like simply hitting play button that sometimes doesn't work) and I wanna upgrade to something better that also has a good sound quality to "take it out in the world".

    Great review. I have this controller and I was wondering if it’s possible to have another DJ connect his setup to one of the RCA inputs on the controller? For example - I have a friend with a Pioneer DDJ-SB. Can he use an RCA cable to connect his DDJ-SB to one of the RCA inputs on the back of my DDJ-SR2? (Basically, can the SR2 be a stand-alone mixer?)

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the SR2 can be a standalone mixer. Each deck has a channel switch for the rca inputs. You can use one deck win conjunction with another dj controller to get a 3 out of 4 channel set up. Or plug cdjs into the alternate channels and use the sr2 as a standalone mixer for scratching.

  • @CitizenGeeMan
    @CitizenGeeMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For the dislikes on the upgrades compare to the sr or others in this price range are not sufficient enough to put down the sr2, obviously for scratching nothing will beat the feel of actual turntables and the issue with the brightness, that would be an issue with any piece of equipment if you plan to play in a bright setting. Overall in my opinion for the price point and features, this controller is a solid mobile piece of equipment.

    What is the sound quality for vinyl records in external mode? just like a dj mixer? i have a denon ds1 and in through mode the sound is weak very bad

    • @DjTecniq

      Phono preamp is trash on the SR2 for dvs it’s fine though. Had the SR2 but sold it for the Mixars Primo. Better phone preamp and features and it sounds better.

    you haven't talked about the sound quality, is it different from the DJ 505?
    I got the SR2 controller and I don't like the sound quality at all.

    I have had the SR-2 for almost a year now and have had ZERO problems with it. Since I decided to go full digital now I have let go of cd's because of digital DJing and I don't scratch much I just focus on mixing since I'm a trance DJ. And as far as all the nods and things like as you were mentioning I have ZERO problems with it too. This DJ controller is 5.5. For me for sure thanx @PioneerDJ for this amazing machine. 🔥🔥🔥💯

      What about the unbalanced mic input

    • @viperdopeman2294
      @viperdopeman2294 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DC-fb3ke The unbalanced mic 🎤 is okay during the time I had the SR-2 but sold it bc I needed more of a professional look and powerful system inside/out with the SRT-1000. 🔥🔥🔥 Ppl criticize this model from PioneerDJ but I'm a well experienced DJ and I can say I have elevated my game more into the digital world of djing 😤

    Bro you hit it on the head with the meters it’s the same as a sb2 it will say your peaking but on a regular mixer your in the just touching yellow I’m thinking they are giving the same reading just shorter length meters

    • @PDot
      @PDot  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YES! At first listen I thought my ears were fooling me, but the metering is just plain off!

  • @DjIssaMusic

    Can you adjust the crossfader curve? Is it good for scratchin?

    • @DJWYZE1
      @DJWYZE1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can definitely scratch and cut with this controller, but I don't find it particularly good for it because the actual fader LENGTH is on the shorter side. This is the one major gripe I have with, alike to how PDOT mentioned the shorter pitch fader length. If they extended those two controls to standard length that would be a big improvement.

    I had the first DDJSR & the entire right side started tripping out after about 2years of use, that was a MAJOR ISSUE in forums with no solution.... I refuse to buy this version, hope you dont encounter the same issue, I just purchased the DDJSX3 to upgrade & it works fine thus far

    • @PDot

      SX3 has been recalled if there’s no black dot on the bottom of the unit yours is defective according to their website. They are offering a free inspection and repair. Hope that’s not the case.

  • @DC-fb3ke
    @DC-fb3ke ปีที่แล้ว

    I like your PROs & CONS but the biggest thing that is never talked about with this controller which I love but dislike is the unbalanced mic input. Do you find the mic is questionable when do weddings? In utilities I have the mic input turned all the way up. I t also talks about the booth mic but I dont understand how to use the booth with a mic maybe this is the best answer. Please eloborate. The mic is whats driving me to sell the unit but its quick, easy, effective and I do want to keep the unit.

    My main complaint is the phono pre amps sound terrible. I use my sl2 box as phono pre amps and input it as line level which is much better.

    My DDJ-SR2 is plastic. I bought it on Amazon 😁 $699.
    I just wish Serato would add track pre-listen from the playlist. When you pre listen on the unused deck, the PLAYS incriment even if you didn't play the track.

  • @DJWYZE1

    I just got the DDJ-SR2 after 25+ years of DJing on Technics 1200s and I couldn't be happier with it for light gigs. The build is great, like you say, and the layout very intuitive. The pitch control isn't something I've had a big issue with to date, but I can see what you're saying. Along those lines, my big gripe is the actual fader. The knob is kind of small and the fader length is definitely on the short side. For chirp scratches and cutting it would be so much nicer if it were closer to standard fader length alike to the DDJ-1000. That being said, there's not much else I have issue with. I tried out the DDJ-1000 and for the price point didn't see it worth the extra money. The DDJ-SR2 is impressively professional grade now for such a small, lightweight unit -- especially now that it has XLR out as you rightly pointed out. Keep on rocking!!!

      I know a lot of DJs who scratch with the crossfader reversed but mix with the crossfader normal, it sucks! If I could go back I would have forced myself to learn to scratch regular!

      I know a lot, especially old school dj's 80s , if they were use to using transform switches that were built in to mixers back then ,, they were reversed, hence the reverse faders.
