    All it takes is training. I was a cashier for 7 years, this never happened to me. As soon as a customer paid, I closed the register and he had to go to customer service for change.

    • @sean7628
      @sean7628 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So then you were just a bitch…? It’s so common to need change broken/exchanged. As a cashier you should be capable of keeping control of the interaction and be *competent* enough with handling money to make sure the numbers add up and you’d notice, (It’s Your Job) as a cashier. (The cashier in the video handed him the money after he was pressuring her leaning over the counter extending his hand “frustrated”. While handing currency it’s almost EVERY stores policy for prioritization on receiving the correct amount BEFORE the customer leaves. Takes little time to confirm and the “scammer” is in no position to object store policies.

      I worked with money for 35 years. Seen it all....counterfeits...you name it. I also was a trainer. Keep the original bill in sight at all times, out of reach of the customer. When they try to confuse you....ask for a 10 & two 5's for a twenty...park the 20 on top of the original money. They'll say they'll say wait, I gave you a 50 by mistake. You simply pick up the 20 & show it to them. Money never put in the drawer. To get scammed out of $2100.00 for 1 $100.00? Either totally stupid....or in on the deal....

    I've been a grocery store cashier almost 40 years and know this scam all to well. They normally pick on new cashiers who are very nervous. They also work in pairs. One will be the scammer at the register and one will be the next customer in line giving the cashier a hard time yelling "hurry up" and "I have to get going" to rattle the cashier even more. Bet the poor cashier got fired considering it was scuzzy Walmart!

      Exactly! I'm a cashier and yesterday during one of the most busiest times of the day, a lady came through my line and tried quick changing me. My till was open and as I'm just about done counting her change to give back to her, she suddenly pulls out (I kid you not) five to six one-hundred dollar bills and asks me if I can give her twenties for her one-hundreds. I counted her change back and gave it to her, and looked her dead in the eye and told her no I can't do that then she begged and begged me. She even told me she went to customer service and they gave her a hard time. I again looked her dead in the eye and told her no and then strictly told her no I can't do that, and then told her that me as well as any of these other cashiers are going to give her change for her one-hundreds. I knew straight away what she was trying to do.

      1fanofmileys I hate when people try to do that!! My first week learning how to work a register I was 20.25 short and I had to get a write up I was so peeved so I got into the habit of counting mentally three times, when they hand me the money I count it, when I pull out the change I count it, then I count it again when their change is all in my hands, and if I've giving them multiple bills back I'll count their change to them. I don't care if I look slow or whatever, ever since I made that a habit I've never been short again, not even on Black Friday when I was strictly on register.

    Had a customer give me 6 twenties and requested that I give him 1 hundred dollar bill and 2 tens. I already knew he was up to no good from the moment he gave me a bullshit story to explain his need for this unnecessary change of bills. I gave him the requested change, while saying the denomination out loud for him to hear. He does some quick motion with his hands as I was closing the register. He then tries to hand me a FIVE DOLLAR BILL and said "there seems to be some mistake, I asked for a hundred." I looked at him while smiling hard af and said "I gave you a hundred!" Then slammed the register shut. He looked dumb founded and miraculously pulled out the hundred dollar bill and said "oh here it is." Haha! That shit only works on idiots who either can't count or pay attention.

    I worked a cash drawer in Las Vegas for years, and one of the most basic training rules is YOU have to control the transaction. No quick change artist can scam you if you make it clear that you are the one in control. When the funny business starts, slam your hand on the counter, look them in the eye and say 'Slow down, we're doing this one transaction at a time.' They won't try it after that. My guess is that Walmart does not empower their employees to behave this way with any customer, making them a much easier target.

      The register only needs to have 300 at the most .. this would have not happened if it only had that much in it.. or the check out clerk was in on it...srs maybe have those strong boxes like at the self check out this way the buyer inputs the money him or her self. and just have a person scanning the stuff this would be much quicker anyway

    When someone needs change you take the money and set it on top of the register/drawer. Make the change and COUNT IT BACK. When the customer verifies the change you put the original money in the drawer.
    Having the original money out and in the register while making change puts it in clear view of the camera and it’s out of reach of the customer. Doing this also prevents them from saying they gave you a $20 when they actually gave you a $10.

    Poor management at this Walmart. This is taught to Cashiers on DAY ONE at any other grocery store. You DO NOT give change out. I've had to deal with short change artists like this a few times in my life. Once they ask for a second time, I slam my cash drawer shut and tell them I can't open it.

I caught a handful of people trying to work this scam on me, fortunately ive always been good at math, so I just smiled and said "that would be the wrong amount of cash." but I did see two tellers get caught by this and lose a few hundred bucks. Pretty sad when you watch the video of a teller handing cash out for no reason. :( though the look on their face when they realize it was their own fault, thats priceless. /facepalm

      The dudes bought something cheap and used $100 bill and needed change..are you just going to keep the $100 and not give change? lol..The only thing management did wrong was hire a moron who can't count. How the hell can you give out 2grand between two people and $200. At minimum your'e giving 3 bills in return (50-20-20)..and it's not like the dudes were asking for $90 in 1s..to amass $2k in that time, they had to have been taking $50s and $20s....No "cashier" training in the world would have solved this..either the cashier was in on the scam or she has a single digit IQ...more than likely the former.

    Years ago when I worked at Wal-Mart, someone tried to pull this on me. It's easy to say the cashier was dumb, but these people are slick. It's normal for people to ask for certain change when breaking down large bills. Also when you have just checked out a bunch of people in line, you go into auto drive and try to get the next transaction done as soon as possible.
    Initially I was scammed for about $40, but then I realized what was going on so I scammed the scammer. When I went to give them another round of change I gave them less than they thought I did and then grabbed the large bill from their hand. They initially were trying to argue with me that I took money from then that wasn't mine, but I just told them I will let the police sort it out and they immediately left. Even when they left they had a smirk on their face as if they still got away with more money than they gave me, but I'm sure they quickly found out they left with less.

      No it's called a change raise and it's one of the oldest cons in the book. It works by tricking the person into a compliance state by overwhelming them with multiple calculations at once. For Example, You give them a 10$ bill and ask for singles. When the person gives you the 10 singles wait for them to put your 10 in the drawer, then you change your mind ask for your 10 back while they look a way to get your ten swap a single for another 10'er and hand them back 19 (a ten and 9 ones) when they give you your 10 back. When they count and realize you "accidentally" gave them the 10 back ask if you can just give them a single and get back a 20. It took 30seconds you've just doubled your money, and even some of the people reading this are going to have to reread it several times to figure out what just happened.

    • @martinj9647
      @martinj9647 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Berelore okay, and now do that what, 600 times to turn $95-145 into $1050, then have the guy behind you do it as well and go undetected? yeah, makes sense. Seems more like they did that for show so the woman would have a justification as it'd be undeniable if she just gave out $2100 between two transactions, so saying they "tricked" her into not understanding how to count or at the very least spot suspicious activity makes it seem like she's as much a victim.
