  • Interesting start to a dis track against the man himself, Em. There were some references that I will need to learn more about, but this seems a little light on depth. Give is one a listen and let me know!

      The way he says it because he means it sincerely😂I felt that jab.
      Just coming back to watch your reaction again because I wanted to see your kill shot reaction again so I’m watching this one first.
      Because your reactions are relaxing.
      ( I’ve had a bad day today so I’ve been binge Eminem and NF for 2 hours and rapping along by myself to stop myself from having a mental breakdown and a depression faze for the rest of the night)
      now I’m lying down in bed Finnishing my day off by you’re reaction like I’ve been doing oodly enough come to think of it for the past few days.
      Your reaction helps me because
      there’s someone that can relate to what I enjoy listening too and insightful,because none of my family or friends appreciate any of em’s art/songs and so it’s great to see some one that can appreciate art when they see it.
      So whenever I’m listening to Eminem and I want someone to listen to this song or bat there is someone I can share my love with.
      Since I watched the Stan reaction I loved the innocence in what the song was about and your spirit in depth into your reaction and noticing how the curse words give the lyrics more meaning in a way which no one else I know picked up on which told me your understand talent almost if you get me , I’ve watched as many of your Eminem reactions as I could find and I watch every vid now religiously 😅
      Although I’m about to watch your NEW Coldplay reaction after these two.
      Thank you for
      giving Eminem a fighting chance otherwise I never would of found your channel.
      Btw our Welsh weather we get rain every few days I don’t like the rain at all which prefer warm weather so I never stop to listen to the rain when I’m in the middle of doing something it seems old that you said that in one of your reactions but quite intriguing to say the least.
      .P.S. I HOPE YOU READ THIS.

    The whole beef began when MGK tweeted about Hailie looking hot when she was still like 16. Then MGK also dissed him subliminally in another song by tech N9ne he was just featured in. So when Eminem dropped his Kamikaze album, he fired back in multiple songs, but most notably in a song called "Not Alike." This stupid Rap Devil song is MGK's big track to diss Em. Then Em destroys him in Killshot, and continues to fire shots at him in songs to this day because that's just what Eminem does. 😅

    As a former mgk fan, you're right its embarrassing. I was bumping mgk back when he had one ep to his name, partially funded by a tattoo shop. Back then his rapping was spectacular. It had a hunger and passion, a drive. The thing that I liked about him the most was his cockiness. His confidence in himself and his ability has proven to be successful. But occasionally that kind of thing can be your downfall. The beef with eminem is an example of that, thinking that he could not only poke the bear and get away with it but do so on a bandlab or looplabs type beat. He got his ass handed to him on killshot and now hes switched up his style. I personally am not a fan of his new music, the new album Is so bad it's almost a parody of alternative/emo music. So I guess that depth you're looking for I cant really provide other than the fact his ego got the best of him.

    • @deathpunchedxx
      @deathpunchedxx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@larryshair I agree, it's sad that him learning that lesson played out the way it did. I still believe he has a lot of creativity and passion in him that isnt being fully utilized. I believe he is being limited by the genre switch hence why his new music is lacking and seems generic. If you are interested at all, I highly recommend his song 'chip off the block' . It is a way better example of his talents as a rapper. I look back on that song fondly but it's always bittersweet because I know he'll probably never release anything similar to it ever again.

    • @deathpunchedxx
      @deathpunchedxx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AK00777 I prefer the track with yelawolf vs the one with corpse if I were to compare the two. Daywalker was ok but I'm my opinion, it's a little messy. The whispering parts are strange and dont flow well with the rest of the song. There are strange clicking noises and audio clips that make sound like it was produced in a bedroom. It resembles more soundcloud type rap than a massive hit. I understand that may be for a number of reasons, but holding it to separate things that I've seen both mgk and corpse do, I think it could have been better. Back on the original Lace Up album there is a track titled save me with M. Shadows and Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold. It has that rock/alt feel with a combo of singing and rapping that is 100x better than what hes doing now. That album released in 2012, I just feel hes already peaked and all the new eyes on him weren't there to witnesses it leading to the criticism.

    This reaction had me 🤣! Your facial expressions were amazing! And you really pretty much nailed it…honestly, there weren’t that many references to get that you didn’t already understand. MGK and Em have taken shots back and forth through the years… initiated by MGK making inappropriate remarks about Hailie when she was still a minor, and then repeatedly trying to take shortcuts to the top by (halfway) disrespecting the greats for attention and accusing Em of using his influence to hinder his career from behind the scenes.
    I will give MGK that he had a handful of good lines in this that did get a chuckle out of me, and at least he enunciated his words fairly well (better than Em gives him credit for in “Killshot”). 😂 But yeah…there just isn’t that much creativity/cleverness behind this. It’s almost entirely elementary/superficial BS insults mixed with way more praise than you should be giving someone in a battle/diss track. LOL.
    I’m even more excited for your “Killshot” reaction now! As you said…don’t poke the bear. Em systematically dismantled MGK and “Rap Devil” with “Killshot,” and he’s *still* taking shots at him years later despite the fact that MGK has switched genres and now looks like… I won’t say what he looks like, because it’s mean. I’ll just say that even though I’m much closer in age to MGK than Eminem, I’d take 49 y.o., 5’ 8” Em and his beard (and his creative genius) 100 times out of a 100. 😂

    So to explain things as best I can without writing an essay, MGK posted a tweet years commenting on Hailey's appearance when at the time she was 16 and he was in his early 20s. Eminem took it as disrespectful and wanted him to apologize for his inappropriate comments as well as apparently working with managers and people behind the scenes to resolve the issue(whether Em actually had him barred from certain things, like the Shade 45 radio show, I'm not certain)but instead MGK slipped a subliminal diss towards Eminem into a verse he did while featured on another rapper's(Tech Nine) song. When Eminem dropped his surprise album Kamikaze, he had a song on it called Not Alike which was a direct response to MGK's subliminal jab at Eminem. When the album dropped MGK posted a video of himself popping open a champagne bottle and celebrating over being mentioned on the album and followed up several days later with Rap Devil.

    Well this was a reply more than anything towards em's verse on "not alike" off of kamikaze album ,in that em song came after mgk for a tweet that he made about his daughter and also some sublimnal shots mgk took at em on a feature with tech nine,rap devil was in response to not alike

  • @lightbringer502
    @lightbringer502 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    MGK is a good rapper and musician, his problem is his ego. He tries to punch well above his weight and disrespect the OGs of the genre to build hype for himself. He tried to do the same thing with rock by insulting Slipknot and Corey Taylor. If he focused on the music he could possibly be great, but he's looking for shortcuts. He can't let go of this "everyone hates me" ideology.
    Edit: I heard you asking about "what's the beef" and so I figured I would try to explain. MGK once commented on a picture of Hailey (Em's daughter) saying she was hot. The girl was 16 at the time, and while according to an interview Em did that didn't bother him, but then MGK started doing a press run off of that controversy. Basically, using Em's daughter to prop his own name up. MGK then referenced Eminem on a song with Tech N9ne saying "y'all just rap, you're not gods" which prompted Eminem to come at MGK in the song "Not Alike." MGK posted a video of him popping champagne while listening to "Not Alike" because now that Eminem said his name, he could publicly diss him with "Rap Devil."
    In the end, it's all about promotion. MGK tried to release an EP called Binge after this and it sounded like it was produced in a week's time. It flopped, and Eminem's "Killshot" track buried MGK's rap career. He has since transitioned to punk rock.

    MGK had some strong bars, but Em rebutdtaled all of them and went even deeper. Also, diss records focus mostly on the bars instead of a chorus. You saying "sue me" in the rap devil reaction is even more funny if you know about the "public service announcement" on mmlp where em/shady was asked in the end 'is there anything else you wanna say?' Very good for diss tracks. Probably the best one I’ve ever heard against Eminem. He complimented Em as an artist in order to tear Eminem down as someone who is not only insecure, but doesn’t have a reason to be insecure anymore. Eminem made it a long time ago, yet he’s making moves behind the scenes to keep MGK down? So MGK is basically saying Eminem is just naturally soft. MGK had good lines like “I know you can’t stand yourself. Trying to be the old you do bad you Stan yourself.” He even did his homework and referenced lines from old Eminem songs like the beard is weird verse at the start.

      now you’ve called it grade school insults. so I definitely like you.
      I feel like it goes unspoken about as to why so many people are like, “yo! Daaaaaamn!”
      even not being an Eminem fan in the least, people can pick up on these bars. but nobody mentions why. (It’s nearly 2:30am so I don’t wish to really explain what I mean in great detail as I’m falling asleep, but I’ll say this: even those who don’t listen to him like that can pick up on it…. Because, whether through controversy (in most eyes), pure talent, the shock factor, the realness, people having similar childhoods/upbringings, just being a fan of the genre, etc……there’s a reason so many know about him.
      I remember my son hadn’t even been born yet when I first stumbled across MGK’s Chip Off the Block. I liked it. (No amazing penmanship, but for someone relatively unknown outside of Cleveland…seemed wwwaaayyy more promising than he ended up being). And then, now, look at this motherfucker…. He wasn’t about this rock shit back when he was like 18 (or probably younger)….god, he’s just a joke.

    There were a few edits to this so I didn't lose my train of thoughts throughout the vid. I think I may have paused more times than you. 😂.
    I should lead this all by saying I'm a 1st gen Stan. Been a Stan since 1999. But I am a huge fan of MGK and have been long before this diss track. So here it goes...
    Em actually gave this a "B" grade.
    First and foremost, to fully appreciate the MGKs diss, you have to be pretty familiar with Ems entire discography, because there's a lot packed into this. References from pretty much every album Em has made was incorporated. I will note a few below, but not all.
    Doing "Not Alike" by Em would have provided a lot more insight before doing this one. But that's alright..
    Beard is weird comment - Eminem song titled Business.. ".. Can't leave rap alone, the game needs me til we grow beards, get weird and disappear...". MGK is saying, your beard is weird now, time to disappear.. so many people miss that one.
    Em released the Kamikaze album August 31, 2018, which included the song that prompted this response.. MGKs track dropped September 3, 2018. He was on tour when Em dropped the album... So that is why the beat is simple and the lyrics aren't super in depth like what we're use to from Em.. fun fact they also filmed this video while living out of their tour bus.
    Trick Trick basically runs Detroit. When there's a problem, he's the one to call.. Sway is on Shade 45's, Sway in the Morning show.. which MGK allegedly wasn't allowed to be on to promote his own music. It's said that between all these people and Ems Manager, Paul, MGK was being blackballed... MGK is under Bad Boy (P. Diddy) and unfortunately Diddy didn't do enough to get the promotion MGK needed. So there may be some animosity there.
    Em was MGKs idol.. so yeah, he probably was a little hurt when his "idol turned into his rival". No one knew the Kamikaze album was coming. It was a surprise release.. we were all shocked!! Could only imagine how MGK felt!
    "MGK fans you should be embarrassed, he's being juvenile". LMFAO. Just wait until you meet Slim Shady. 🤣🤪
    Anyway, great reaction as always. 💙 If you're interested in some MGK recommendations, I can surely provide them. This song doesn't highlight his overall talent. So would be a shame if this was all you were relying on.
    Can't wait for the Killshot review! 💙😊

      I've also been a Stan since '99, and I've been with Est19XX/Lace Up since 2011. I really hope he reacts to some of Machine Gun Kelly's deep stuff, like Lead You On, Glass House, and Merry-go-round.

      @@Daymare_666 I hope so too.. there more than a few songs that I think he would appreciate and definitely would be provided more background on Colson as a person.

      @@cindyw262, exactly! He's such an amazing artist, but some Stans won't give him a chance because of all this, and they miss out on great music. It's possible to like both of them. We're not children, we don't have to pick sides.

      @cindyw262 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Daymare_666 agree completely!!! We can like both. It's okay!
      And whether people want to admit it or not, it woke Em up a little bit more and these diss tracks are just what us hip hop heads needed LMFAO. All hopes for a collab are gone, but I'll never be sad to see a diss track from Em 🤣🤣.

      @@cindyw262, right?! Hell, I mostly listen to metal (metalcore and deathcore), and I've been a Maggot (Slipknot fan) since '99 also, but I still didn't drop MGK after that drama he had with Corey Taylor. It's petty to pick sides. I just like good music.

    MGK actually has a lot of great songs you can checkout. Even though this diss wasn't his beat work.
    Try these ones out
    Glass house, Diablo,Candy, waste love, death in my pocket, floor 13.
    Also he didn't change genres over this he was making "pop punk" influenced songs if that's what you want to call it before hand

    Him saying "but not literally you'll choke" is a reference to his movie 8 mile where eminem chokes on stage while battle rapping. Then he says "knees weak of old age, the real slim shady cant stand up " eminem has a song called the real slim shady that starts off saying " will the real slim shady please stand up". "Go back to recovery" is a reference to eminems drug addition and one of his most successful albums called recovery.

    As a Eminem fan all my life, I will say this is one of the better shots someone has taken at Em, but that's not a very high bar considering I believe Mariah Carey landed a shot better then him. I recommend if you're going into disses check out this fun little feud between Mariah and Em (Bagpipes from Baghdad, Obsessed, then The Warning)
    I mean I'll give it to MGK, dude took a legit swing at Eminem at this point in his career when everyone else is too afraid to. The thing is at best, it was a "good try" and like your title says, if you're gunna swing at the the G.O.A.T. you better be coming with everything you got.
    Unfortunately it's MGK we're talking about so, hope he has fun doing punk rock from now on.
