That “1, 3” is called syncopated rhythm . “Syncopation occurs when a rhythmic pattern that typically occurs on strong beats or strong parts of the beat occurs instead on weak beats or weak parts of the beat. Most pop/rock songs have a mixture of syncopated and “straight” rhythms.” Eminem is most def a master
I grew up on Eminem and it’s heartwarming to see someone who thoroughly enjoys his music today, all these years later. Your Eminem reactions bring back memories of a great time in my life
it’s so crazy how he can say everything how he says it while using multiple rhyme schemes, and just the way he finds the words to tell perfect stories. BRILLIANT song writing‼️
Only person on TH-cam I’m glad to see has ADs now. Willingly watching these for my guy. Much love brother. Your content is excellent, through and through
EMINEM’s character was actually writing the song throughout the movie like the scene where he was writing on the bus you could hear the beat playing with the occasional word sprinkled in as he was piecing it together. Between writing, filming, and recording he was literally getting 2 hours of sleep a night. He helped write the script, he was the star of the movie, he was recording songs for the soundtrack, and he executive produced the soundtrack under his own label. The scenes where you see him with his headphones on writing music he actually was writing this song in real life. Because he was only getting 2 hours of sleep a night though this is when he started taking the sleep medication he became addicted to. This song was the first ever time a rap song has won an Emmy. This song came out in 2002, but in 2015 he found an unreleased version of the song he thought he lost that is quite a bit different from this one with a more bare bones instrumental. He released it on an album called Shady XV which stands for Shady 15 since it was the 15th anniversary of the founding of his record label. Shady XV was a collection of greatest hits from all the artists on his label over that 15 year span and a bonus CD full of new songs from everyone on his label that just didn’t quite fit the theme of a full album. The final track on that CD is pretty interesting. It’s called Twisted and it’s EMINEM featuring Yelawolf and Skylar Grey. You haven’t heard either one of them yet I don’t think, but Yelawolf is kind of like a southern country style rapper and Skylar Grey is a Pop artist and model EMINEM took under his wing. She does a lot of hooks for him, he executive produced two of her albums and featured on some of her songs and she is actually also a ghostwriter and has written songs for Rihanna, Beyoncé, etc. she even wrote the Love the Way You Lie hook Rihanna sang for EMINEM.
I am so proud of myself that apart from the Skyler Grey part I knew all of the above and was about to comment‼️I love the community here‼️Always polite, helpful and informative‼️and all in tune with Larry:”How can you not ❤️him to death”‼️Em’s skill talent passion, commitment throughout his evolution is beyond words‼️He is simply magic‼️
Stumbled upon This channel because I love watching people who are diving into Eminem for the first time. You seem quite genuine. Exactly what I look for with this kind of content. Glad you love my favorite artist!,
When this first came out, it was HUGE!!! I'll never forget being at a school dance and, as soon as this song came on, literally every student there jumped up with their fists in the air and cheered in unison. That dance was LIT while it played! There wasn't another popular song played that night that got even remotely close to that much of a pop from us when the DJ dropped it.
Absolutely love your reactions and how you relate to the lyrics and pass on your thoughts. I have only just discovered you but wow your amazing and I have now spent the last two days going through your videos and can't wait to catch up on all the rest. Thank you!
Im a huge fan of Em, and I just love watching your genuine reactions so much! I always get super gassed on moments I know youre gonna get goosebumps haha. Its kinda like showing a friend something you know they will like :D thanks for these 🙏🏻
Bro.. this song blew people away who were heavy into the next lyricist. “Pied piper, ampli-fied by tha” “ I can’t, my nine to, five-a” “ provide, the right type-a” Nobody was hitting those rhyme schemes or bending the word to fit the timing correctly. He manipulates the syllable to change the word, but keeps the word. Rhyming single syllables with compounds, or breaking a compound syllable in to 2 singles while flowing into a A,B pattern.. it was the illest shit you hear back then, and he’s still lyrically the most impressive today.
I just recently came across your channel, and i must say, you have probably the most genuine reactions ive ever seen, and such a positive vibe in general for every video, well done man, you’re energy is one of a kind
FUN FACT: Eminem opened a restaurant in Detroit in 2017-2018. opening day he showed up and served lucky diners his signature dish spaghetti. he also created a "moms spaghetti sandwich" which is spaghetti on garlic bread with meatballs. Great reaction as always. keep the eminem reactions coming!!! love ya buddy, take care.
Fact being this is one of those songs that goes very well with the time when you feel you knocked down, or having a hard time, and when you listen to this, you pretty much feel that you got a long way to go, and you can get it all. Eminem, irrespective of the type of song he drops, be it motivational/ or just him narrating his own story, the wordplay he goes with, I think there's been no one at present, who can match/ reach his level. Loved the reaction, and would like to see more of Eminem reactions coming!
8mile in detroit is where EMINEM was brought up it's one worse places to be brought up lots gun crime murders the lot its amazing how EMINEM turned out how he did
14:14 "The Pied Piper" is a pop song written by the duo The Changin' Times consisting of Steve Duboff and Artie Kornfeld, who first recorded it in 1965, their version reached #87 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, when British pop singer Crispian St. Peters recorded it he scored a major hit with the single during the summer of 1966 when it went to #4 in the United States, #5 in the United Kingdom, and #1 in Canada. The song's title came from the German folklore fairy tale, whose titular character is The Pied Piper of Hamelin.
You gotta check out “higher” it and lose yourself are on my daily motivation playlist. Also, if you somehow avoided seeing him do this at the Super Bowl…must see! It’s electric! Crazy good.
Higher explains to me how he stayed ontop and hungry for 25 years and does relate to Lose Yourself in my mind. "If I get the chance to get a crowd I flip it around to have the crowd give the chance." Still talking about losing yourself in the moment.
Glad you did this song, before every job interview I've had this is the song I've picked to get myself ready right before i go in for it. Also, 8 Mile is an actual street in Detroit.
Watching your progession of eminem over these last few months since I found your channel, completely relates to me. I relate to your reactions, and brings me back 20 years. Like you said, lyrically he is Picasso, or Rembrandt :)
This song was released 2002. I was failing my Medical Laboratory Technology Sciences Program. I had one last chance and I ate a massive piece of humble pie and showed up to my professor's office for help 2 hours before class start. That morning I learned I had a learning disorder that my prof called a "gift." He said in his entire 20+ year career as a teacher, he knew only 5 others who were like me. One went to med school. The others became managers and supervisors. I graduated with honours!!! Doctors I worked with encouraged me to consider med school. I opted to be a supervisor/manager. This song was what motivated me to go for it. I had nothing to lose. And I'm glad I did.

This song was the first Rap song to ever win an Oscar! This is the beginning when you see him getting ready for his first rap battle & he got sick. "Moms Spaghetti"! lol He opened a restaurant here in Detroit called "Moms Spaghetti"! lol Standing up in front of people like that...it's a lot of pressure! Doesn't help when the crowd starts screaming "Choke"!!! The way he's uses his voice as a percussion instrument....is unbelievable! I'm so glad you watched this movie! He had never acted before and he wrote all the lyrics for everyone.... for the battles....as well as his own lyrics for the soundtrack!!! The experience was exhausting for him! It just shows how hard he drives himself to get things done!!! He has been approached several times to do movies but rap is what he loves! His step dad was much worse in reality! Sad to say 😥 Make sure you called ahead and make an appointment for your tattoos! Sometimes these guys are booked months in advance! His life was similar to the movie but in reality much worse!!! This song...No one had ever come out with anything like this before! He blew everyone away!
I have only watched 4 of your videos at this time and I am attracted to your sensitivity to the songs that you played by eminem (when I'm gone, toy soldiers, not afraid, and lose yourself). Eminem is my absolute favorite artist of ALL TIME as I can relate to so much of his life it isn't funny. I even grew up near the same district as Eminem and I as a white girl definitely know the battles and hardships that a dysfunctional family and a minority that eminem went through. I know this video is probably quite old and you've surely learned much more about eminem from the time of this post. By no means am I being disrespectful to you when I say you have much to learn about eminem if you continue to research, watch, listen, and read about his songs and life. I'm sure by now you know that 8 mile is a real place in Detroit and his movie and life are based on that neighborhood. Every post you have done so far has made me cry as I love those songs myself and have followed eminem since he broke out in 2000 (that's when I became aware of him) as I was mostly against listening to hip hop/ rap myself and I also being a Christian. It goes strongly against the flow of the church and like eminem, I just don't care what the church thinks about eminem or other unapproved music. Keep up the good work.
First and foremost, I love your reactions as I can tell you genuinely intrigued by eminem even though he goes against the flow of what we are taught by the church as far as secular and vulgarity music goes. I know that feeling as I am a Christian myself. As em would say, I just don't give a fuck cuz I am whatever you say I am. This man is too gifted and honest for me to be bias. Next, my father is long gone (1995) and you have such a loving and genuine appearance and demeanor about you that you remind me of my dad.
congrats Chris, really happy to see your subscriber count reaching 50k, as a daily viewer of your channel, it made me really happy. Yes 8 Mile is real. It is the northern border of Detroit. It separates Wayne County from Oakland and Macomb Counties. It also is the cut off for Detroit's area code, 313.
Your videos make me so happy Larry! Em inspired me to rap in high school, and it gave me so much confidence. I performed at two talent shows, and if it wasn’t for Em, I would have never had the courage to do that.
I discovered Eminem back in '98, in my mid to late 20's. I got so much flack for listening to him! And I listened to him daily for years! Marshall Mathers is a poet, plain and simple! He transcribes his perceptions, emotions, insight, knowledge, and experience into absolutely brilliant rhyme schemes and hooks (chorus). He has depth, but at the same time can be a comedian - he can also be monster. He can play any character in any movie, with using just his words. G.O.A.T.
Yes you are correct 8 mile is a real place. Basically runs straight through the roughest part of Detroit. Detroit roads are set up like a grid so for every mile road away from 8 mile,9 mile 10 mile 11 mile etc, you get farther away from downtown. Also, like many major cities of course there are rough areas but Detroit is full of some of the best restaurants, shops, businesses, entrepreneurs, vinyl record production, sports history, automobile manufacturing, and so much more. I ❤️ this city!!!
There is one line that always gets to me "I been chewed up and spit out and booed off stage" and he ended up permorming in the oscars with all-time celebrities clapping like crazy... Just amazing. I would have loved to see you reacting to the final battles of the movie. Great reaction like always.
Actually, in the last battle Em really took everyone by surprise and the reactions were genuine because he hadn't rehearsed that part before, he wanted it to be real. So that guy really heard it right then for the first time. And Em was writing his battle bits during breaks on set, plus, when they rehearsed Em would just mimic it because he wanted to save his voice for the actual take. There is bonus footage on the dvd but you can find it online as well, where the rapper in him can't take it anymore and does actual little rap battles with people from the crowd just for the fun of it:)
And Anthony Mackie (Papa Doc, the final battle) said Em asked him if he is fine if he puts something to make it better or something, Mackie cools with it. And those lyrics about him going to good school and having good parents is basically about Mackie's real life, so his reaction in the movie is kind of genuine because he didn't expect Em to actually diss his real life situation. Lmao. He said this in an interview, it is available on YT.

I'm from Detroit and 8 mile rd. Is the border between Detroit and the suburbs. He lived that movie for sure. He said there was a few parts he glamorize but for the most part the movie followed his life pretty close.
Would be sick to have Eminem recognize how much he won someone like you over, who had such a prejudice against rap. I GUARANTEE he would have some DEEP respect for you my friend. All he ever really wanted from the game was respect himself, which you have given so much that it brings joy to me every time I see you drop a reaction and I can't wait to see it. I know Em would feel even more joy. Much love. Eminem changed my life, been listening for 18 years and he's easily in my top artists in general...I also love aurora btw, so I understand love for many angles in music as well. Keep on keeping on

Hey Chris, Glad you loved the movie and the song! For the story Eminem and 8 mile are the reason i speak english, i got to the U.S when i was 12 and only stayed about 3 years in Atlanta, i made my whole carreer by talking english, and he is the main reason. I remember having to read Ann Frank's Diary in the 7th grade and only made it through because of Em. My progress in English was so fast that even my grandmother took an interest in Em and we went to see 8 mile together in the theaters on the second day it was released, she didnt get the rap battles but she did love the movie and said he was an incredible actor. She's still alive and well and that day is still a great memory to her 😁 and to me obviously. A very famous, now dead, french artist called Charles Aznavour, said that rappers are the poet's legacy, i simply agree 😁
This was awesome! It's great you took the time to do this! There is an actual 8 mile! I drive on it everyday! lol I live in Detroit..so any questions you might have.....ask away!!! Score- 10!!! lol He reads a lot, watches documentary's...etc he keeps on top of current events but is also a student of history! All self taught...cuz he never graduated from high school. He never finished 9th grade. Sorry for major essays! lol Btw...dont let any of the jokers talk you into reacting to "Fack"! Trust me! lol
Hey Larry, listen I am a hugeee Stan. I love watching your journey with Eminem’s music. You should do a reaction to the Scrap version of lose yourself (also known as the demo version) It’s the same beat with a different message. Here is some background, Eminem had no idea he made the demo version. He was… heavily under the influence when he wrote it. So he didn’t realize he had a demo to the song about a year later. I’ll leave at that, keep up the good work.
Actual 8 mile road…so…Detroit is a wheel and spoke configuration; i.e., the north and south roads meet together downtown in the center and then get further and further apart the greater the distance from downtown you get. The east and west roads that run parallel provide the counterbalance to that. The mile roads run east and west. There is a 5 mile on the west side. But it’s usually considered to start at 6 mile, which is also called McNichols. It goes all the way up to 33 or 34 mile road out by Romeo (where kid rock is actually from). The Detroit city limits stop/start at 8 mile road (anything north is considered the suburbs or Metro Detroit), which is 20 miles long and goes from Lake St Clair all the way out to god knows where-Milford maybe? And turns into M-102. It is a real road and the dividing line is real. Just like Woodward is generally accepted as the north/south line that divides east and west Detroit. I’ve lived on 7 mile, 9 mile, 10 mile and all the way up to 23 mile. But once you know the configuration, it’s very easy to navigate the city. But everyone learns really young about 8 mile. He grew up around 8 mile and Hoover. Where he always talks about 7 mile and Runyon, Runyon is just to the west of Hoover. He used to live on Dresden street, which is a few blocks east of Runyon. Both are by Osborne high school, where Proof went (and the 16 year anniversary of his death is a week from today).
This has always been one of my favs by Em. 8 mile is real. It's the major East/West Rd bisecting Woodward Ave, the main N/S thruway in SE Michigan. There are 37 "mile" roads. But, not all of them are called "mile" roads. I live on 6 mile, also known as McNichols for the original president of the University of Detroit, which is located on 6 mile. All that said, Em is a lyrical genius. No question. Shortly after 8 Mile, he did a Superbowl commercial for Chrysler that used the guitar riff from this song! It was pretty sweet.
Wow this was an amazing reaction to an amazing song. I'm so glad every time I see you upload now and I just had to subscribe because of the pure reactions and your deep analysis of Em's lyrics. I can tell you really enjoy the motivation and the meaning behind his songs and his unique style of music. I'd really like to see you react to Dax. He's a very relatable rapper and he's been shooting up recently in his views and popularity. I've enjoyed his music for a long time as I can relate to just about every single song he makes. He's a lot more intense than Em is talking about very sensitive subjects and he puts so much feeling into his music. His songs "She Cheated Twice" and "Love Hurts" are his more relatable ones and I'd love to see you react to those and take in his lyrics.
"How can you not love this guy to death" So welcome Larry, your official an Eminem Fan now ❤️❤️❤️ Btw you need to watch as he preformed that song at the oscars, I guess 2 years ago. You miss his reference to Stephen King's Salem's Lot. Yes 8 Mile is an actual street, Eminem described it as the border between the rich and the poor people, in that case sadly it means between the white and the colored people. And he obvious don't live on the rich side. On a scale from 1-10 this song is a 11. It's one of his best! 8 Mile is a 10, and one of the few movies I watched more then once in cinema. Yes the End battle in the movie is the best! Tell them what they don't know about me...
im was never a rap person, but i grew up during eminem and he's my God. How can you not love someone that just knows the way around words (and those beats)
This song is phenomenal. To me it is his best. I feel for your son and understand. I graduated high school without any ambition or goals. Got married at 20 Held many jobs-some of which were not bad. But at 30 figured out what I wanted to do and got my education and career. Personally I'm glad I didn't go right away. Everybody, of course, is different. Wishing the best for you and your son. I'm "losing myself" in your Em reactions. Lol. TBT I'm a bigger Harry Mack fan but these bring back memories that are 20 years old. Some good memories and some bad because I was active in my addiction during those years. "There was a moment in time" when Tech N9ne put out K.O.D. and I was really going through it and felt everything he was saying in every song. I thought it was meant for me. Crazy times.
I fucking love u bro- found u tonight- I’m a diehard hip hop fan- but hip hop is so overlooked for the artistry. It’s poetry- the beats are works of art! Keep going
Hey Larry! Just came across your videos reacting to eminem and happy you ended up liking his music. I like watching/listening to music/videos, it reminds me where I was when I first heard it. 2. He didnt think he was going to win & didnt want to sit there all night in a suit with Hollywood elites..
Not exactly his scene.

This may be one of the most motivational songs ever written.
Epic
That “1, 3” is called syncopated rhythm .
“Syncopation occurs when a rhythmic pattern that typically occurs on strong beats or strong parts of the beat occurs instead on weak beats or weak parts of the beat. Most pop/rock songs have a mixture of syncopated and “straight” rhythms.”
Eminem is most def a master
Jay Z on one of his interviews talks about how Em's voice is like a syncopated instrument on itself.
Is it not just off beat.
Syncopation is between the beats

I grew up on Eminem and it’s heartwarming to see someone who thoroughly enjoys his music today, all these years later. Your Eminem reactions bring back memories of a great time in my life
it’s so crazy how he can say everything how he says it while using multiple rhyme schemes, and just the way he finds the words to tell perfect stories. BRILLIANT song writing‼️

Bro.. this song blew people away who were heavy into the next lyricist.
“Pied piper, ampli-fied by tha”
“ I can’t, my nine to, five-a”
“ provide, the right type-a”
Nobody was hitting those rhyme schemes or bending the word to fit the timing correctly.
Agree 👌😊
He actually opened up a restaurant called Mom's Spaghetti in Detroit. Loved the reaction
FUN FACT: Eminem opened a restaurant in Detroit in 2017-2018. opening day he showed up and served lucky diners his signature dish spaghetti. he also created a "moms spaghetti sandwich" which is spaghetti on garlic bread with meatballs.

I always get goosebumps from this song. Watching your reaction brings me back to the first time I heard this.
4:40 the joke is "people would rather be in the coffin that read the eulogy"

You gotta check out “higher” it and lose yourself are on my daily motivation playlist.
Also, if you somehow avoided seeing him do this at the Super Bowl…must see! It’s electric! Crazy good.
Higher explains to me how he stayed ontop and hungry for 25 years and does relate to Lose Yourself in my mind. "If I get the chance to get a crowd I flip it around to have the crowd give the chance." Still talking about losing yourself in the moment.

That is an incredible story!!!

Lose yourself in the music, the moment , you own it. Every time I really lose myself in the music 😵💫
Thanks so much! I think one of his most touching songs was "When I'm Gone". That reaction wrecked me. He's quite a guy.
@@larryshair, I want to say a few things to you and I don't mean any disrespect to you at all so please don't take it the wrong way please.

@Michael Kiely Yeah, you're right. It was '99. Off by a year, my bad. Good thing you caught me lying! smh
So happy I found ur channel!! Keep up the great work bro
Just the best vids man!
And that's Facts Bruh!! 😄

Hey Chris,
Glad you loved the movie and the song!

Yes!! Its eminem reaction!💯🔥💕 tnx bro! Love this channel!
Thanks so much!
There's a reason this song won an Oscar. Pure genius.
Thanks for the back story!
I knew you would love it man now you got to react to Not Afraid!! Yes 8 Mile is an actual street in Detroit 😂😂
