Incidentally, I posted this on another Saddler compilation video, but I’d like to say it again. I get the feeling that even though he’s clearly in command of Los Illuminados as he was in the original RE4, he’s been remade into as much of a victim of the Plagas as the rest of the village because of how seriously he carries himself as the leader of this “religious community”. I do miss Michael J. Gough’s classic and memetic portrayal, but Christopher Jane was serviceable here. Both of them played convincing leaders, but Gough went for a more “self-aware” approach while Jane was more of a legitimate zealot. For me, both are good, but I wish Remake Saddler had a little more onscreen presence. Not necessarily to the level of wangpale-stabbing Luis, but I’ll admit mixing a few scenes together did help streamline his sporadic appearances from the OG.
I've been reading up a bit on the actual lore behind Saddler and this is what I've found. Saddler was NOT a victim. In fact, he's actually the one who caused all of this in the first place. He was chief of research for bioweapons and came to the region a couple years before the game takes place specifically to find and weaponize the mythical Las Plagas (which at the time was only described in local folklore) in order to use it to dominate the world. He initially manipulated Salazar to gain access to the ruins in hopes of finding and excavating Las Plagas. After finding Las Plagas, he began experimenting on it to make it a better weapon. Saddler then infected Chief Mendez (who was also the village priest) and then used him to infect and convert his followers from Catholicism over to Saddler's cult. Saddler himself is infected with a subspecies of Las Plagas that he had engineered that makes him a dominant host that is completely free of mind control, while the villagers are infected with a subordinate species that allows a dominant host (like Saddler) to control them. So it would seem that Saddler is doing all of this of his own free will. Granted, this is based primarily on documents found in the original game. But unless they've completely rewritten the character's lore for the remake, then I don't see why this wouldn't still apply. I've skimmed through some of the documents found in the remake and have yet to find anything that contradicts the original backstory for Saddler (if anything, several of them also support this backstory).
@@darkstar7447 Yeah, I tried looking into other TH-cam videos for some Saddler lore. Apparently some of Osmund’s ancestors were leaders of Los Illuminados, worshippers of the Plagas “holy body” that were driven out of the village. Saddler is definitely not a victim. He manipulated and brainwashed Salazar by guilt tripping him over the persecution his ancestors did against the Illuminados, so that Saddler could get his hands on the plaga. Saddler then experiments on the parasite to make it stronger, better and more effective. He also made a superior parasite for himself so that he could retain his cognitive abilities and control all other inferior parasites. He also brainwashes Chief Mendez and converts him into his cult. After experimentation with the plaga is finalized, Saddler infects himself then Salazar, Mendez and Krauser (who saddler lured into his cult by promising him true power). Saddler then proceeds to infect the poor unsuspecting villagers through Mendez who was their priest. This giving him total control and worship worthy of a god.

Poor the girl in the first scene of the game
he describes himself as "the speaker for our lord" which implies that he himself is not the lord, so who is?
The Plagas "sacred body" parasite
No. He thinks there is a god that created las plagas. He thinks that because he is crazy, that’s all.
@@jdiona literally wrong
@@ruskithegreat1585 oh. So why is he talking about a god?

I want saddler in mecenaris mode
Even though I like Saddler's remake design I do miss how he was in the original but I like how he is a devoted cult leader in this
Osmund Saddler = Sheev Palpatine
Saddler looks like Voldemort in the remake
Why dose saddler look like my jewish accountant
We are living in end times
fall damage does not exist in ada
Capcom likes ada way to much.
Sphere Hunter: Saddler hallucinations are so cool, these are buildup for his appearance, no more drama talking with Leon.
Act Man: Boo!!! Hallucinations and speakers sucks. Where's the badass talking between Leon and Salazar/ Saddler? Where is the Salazar/Saddler's presence? Where's the Verdugo buildup?
I'm on Act Man's side.
Initially I didn't liked the New Saddler because I am not generally fans of "Hero" antagonists.
But it I have grown to him. Maybe I am under his control.
Remember the times they said "moldy std" in the original?
Saddlers eyes looks like zavala
Dan, this version of saddler is too powerful right ?
Unholy Pope
If the dominant plaga is supposed to be god, osmund sounds a little upset about having to let it take over his body at the end there. Almost like he doesn't believe the BS he'd been saying about las plagas the whole time
He was upset about Leon destroying his plaga.
@@usdtisallineed this may not be true, but I would've thought saddler could tell the moment the plagas were neutralized because he can control them remotely. Maybe he can only tell if he manually tries to control one?
About tht : saddlers plaga is artifically made, while the amber is the only naturally occurring dominant plaga, and its way more powerful than saddlers plaga,so the real "god" of the cult is the amber itself
@sherif956 I'd love to have the amber all for myself
You spelled his name wrong check back the cutscene 🤦
In my opinion the old version of Saddler is way better
Go play the original then
New ones voice actor isn’t scary at all

Saddler vs Gotou
Who will win ?
The old saddler was ok but they made the new one look like Voldemort
The only qualm with Saddler is that the lack of a spanish accent. Other than that, I enjoyed him in the remake very much.
Ehh honestly Saddler was a better character in the original imo
Saddler felt like a budget Dracula rather than a cult leader like emperor palpatine
@@PSGAMER3047I think their both perfect👍👍👍
Controversial opinion but REmake Saddler wasn’t as compelling a character or a dominant presence like the original. He seems like an after thought despite being the main villain. Hell, his motives weren’t really conveyed clearly. Sure, you can argue he still comes across as a cult leader, but it came at the cost of his charisma and charm that the original possessed. And I LOVED the banter between him and Leon. It was great. Overall, not one of the remake’s improvements, and trust me, there’s other places it improve on
This isn't controversial at all. OG saddler >>>> Remake saddler

Who is usmund?
Osmund*
the original one was better, this one looks like he didn't wash the shampoo, lacks His hate towards USA and always mention the holy body, holy moly
And the lambs. It's freaking stupid and cringy
Osmund saddler, lord saddler jogo resident evil 04 , e jogo : resident evil 04 - remake
Changing Osmund Saddler's voice actor was the most stupid thing they could do. The dude just sounds like an angry old guy now. If the game takes place in a part of Spain than it makes sense that the cult leader would have a spanish accent. They could of upgraded the voice actor to someone with a stronger accent and deeper tone similar to the previous voice actor. Instead they changed it for some stupid reason I don't understand. The old Lord Saddler is patient and intimidating this guy just yells all the time.
Saddler isn't even a name of Spanish descent. I doubt he's spanish which would explain him having no accent
@@TomBreezy In the original game Saddler is implied to be spanish. Los Illuminados is the name of his cult. In addition his strong connection with Salazar a Castilian royal. Did you even play the original resident evil 4 game. The kingdom of Castile is in Spain.
@@robertlaghiti7228 Los Illuminados existed long before Saddler. The first castellan is said to have beaten them and sealed Las Plagas beneath the Salazar castle.
@@Crimson1Fed Michal Osmund is a name derived from Latin. In addition Los Illuminados literally translates to the Illuminati in the Spanish language. Lord Saddler is hinted as being Spanish in the original game. The setting, the name of his cult, his connection to Salazar. The accent he has in the original game. There is no way for you fans to argue against it. Lastly 75% of spanish words have Latin roots.
@@robertlaghiti7228 I didn't deny Saddler being Spanish. All I said was Los Illuminados is hundreds of years old so maybe he just took the reins of the cult, not named it.

We saw the girl in the beginning again later in the game right, she was the dead body inside a secret room after the del lago fight. I was wondering because she looks like she was decapitated in the beginning but her head is still intact when we found her body
Why is he calling them "lambs" throughout the whole game? It sounds so stupid.
The lord is the shepherd. The lambs are lost unless the shepherd guides them. Its the same reason he refers to them as his children.
@@douglassorren9798 Ok that makes a little more sense. Don't you think it's somewhat bizzare that made Saddler a full-blown preacher?
@@cuttrogue Not at all. Because he is basically the Los Iluminados Pope. He is a religious leader. Have you ever been to a church?
@douglassorren9798 We're not in an Alabama church, this is resident evil. He severely lacks personality and charisma throughout the whole game as has been noted by many. Turning him into generic religious leader made him uninteresting and boring. Which is the opposite of og re4 Saddler.
