    About the delay:
1- Had to deal with a mountain of delayed responsibilities.
2- Editing, polishing, and avoiding copyrights is all a big gothic bitch.
3- It was a really big and complicated vid. Had to be done well, Justinian deserved it, as did you.
You can also watch it on TH-cam Alternatives:

"The West has fallen. Britannia was abandoned centuries ago, Gaul is overrun by the Franks, Hispania is a Visigothic province now and North Africa has fallen to the Vandals. Worst of all, Italy and thus Rome itself has become an Ostrogothic kingdom. Only the East still stands. But even in the East, Huns and Bulgars press in on the north and in the south, war rages with the mighty Sassanid Empire. Not even Anatolia, the heart of the Empire, home of Constantinople herself is safe.
And yet today all around us we see the legacy of Eastern Rome! In the heart of Istambul stands the Hagia Sophia. Its great domes housed the largest cathedral in the world for a thousand years. And even now, 1500 years after its construction, it stands as a wonder to us all.
Everyday in courtrooms half the world over, decisions are made rooted in the legal framework laid out in the Corpus Juris Civilis.
And in the apse of the basilica in San Vitale, if you look up, you will see the most renowed emperor of the East, looking down on you from a mosaic nearly 1500 years old.
And these things that are left to us are almost all the work of one man....

well if that's the greatest ruler persia could spawn then there is no wonder it's a shithole today. The relations between Rome and Persia at the time isnt something we are used to today, it was two great empires in an ocean of nationless land, the two could have collaborated and mutually secured eachothers existence but nope Khosrau found the best course of action to be fighting the only other empire in the world. Khosrau also uprooted the nobility and centralized the nation which meant that the muslims could later replace an already existing government instead of having to fight a deeprooted zoroastrian nobility for decades.
TL;DR khosrau is directly at fault for providing the weaknesses exploited by the Caliphate and islam both of which would never leave the peninsula otherwise.

It truly is painful to see how the most competent Emperors were all dealt such terrible hands, but perhaps that's what made them stand out. Death is always certain, and it doesn't really matter that great individuals and even empires fade away. What truly matters is how those men and nations lived. People like Justinian and Belisarius show us that even swan songs can be trumpets blasting defiant against what is inevitable.

Just before that first battle, a Sassanid walked out into the field and demanded an enemy come out and dual him. A Byzantine infantryman obliged and killed the Sassanid in single combat. On his way back to his unit, the infantryman was challenged by another Sassanid, so he killed that guy too. After the battle, Belisarius sent a message to the Sassanid general saying that his bath was getting cold.

Narses is unfairly depicted as a wojak. He was one of Justinian's best generals and relieved Belisarius pretty well.

the part where bellisaurious gets locked out reminds me of witch trials, "if we throw you in the water and you drown, you aren't a witch" except it's "if we leave you to a gothic army that massively outnumbers you and you die, you aren't bellisaurious."

There wasn't a single moment that the empire hadn't been either plundered, occupied, plagued or betrayed. Nobody else could have handled this much shit other than Justinian. Respect and RIP.
