Miku asked Kanami to write a song that would be good for Karaoke, Saiki asked for some piano and little english in the lyrics - Start Over was the result. I love the song, It has a lounge jazz feel to me.

This is one of the missing pieces of the BM catalog for me. I love how uncompressed the master is. A little, but not squeezed flat.

I love start over. To start with, I love anything jazzy, with piano intro to boot. Drum is tasty and the signature bandmaid sound, layered, colourful and somewhat convoluted yet beautiful start developing towards the end.

Hearing this for the first time, I didn't expect to like it (from hearing from comments) but... I can't knock it!
Groove is definitely present, drums are exquisite, vocals, guitars, bass... I find myself bopping along every time I hear this song.
Band-Maid knows what they are doing. No doubt about that! 😎🤘

I love when this song is reacted to. This is a perfect example of how versatile they are. This may not be many Maidiacs’ cup of tea in terms of overall sound but no-one can deny how incredibly well done it is, for what it is.
If this song had been promoted heavily here in the U.S. I have to think it would have garnered them a ton of mainstream attention. It has all the catchiness of those mainstream pop songs that so many people love but also has 100 times the musicianship than those songs have (they don’t even have real instruments half the time).
I do prefer their usual hard-rock, punk-pop, proggy, material but if they put out an album in this style I would not be disappointed one bit. It’s not my choice for a future direction, mind you, but I know it would still be so well done and a great listening experience.
NOTE: Because they are trending towards more complex, and progressive, compositions I’d like to see them stretch out a bit. Maybe one long song on the next album… 10 minutes, or so. And I’d definitely like to have piano, organ, etc., as part of that!

that would be REALLY cool to see a LONG song, not to many do i t these days. I love this song, i love that its the first i think that did not have a guitar solo in it.
Well every band has a experimental stage album where they go left field usually and it always ends up being one of the best

🐢 🍕 really cool observation about languages that would be a great analogy for what Band Maid does. Most bands write their songs in a single style, like a single language. Band Maid are so versatile it’s as if they speak a dozen different musical “languages.”

I just came back to reread this comment. I must’ve been drinking. It sounds 🌽 E.

This song is not simple at all, for the 16th note groove can't be expressed by the average rock band. The funk guitar muting alternate between on and off beats, the bass lines move around, and the combination of snare's ghost notes and hi-hat chokes is quite complex. The vocal harmonies are also very well thought out, with one vocalist ascending and the other descending.

I agree with you, that this seems to have a different sound than other songs by them, but it's so fun and catchy! Really enjoy it!

MISA's switched to Aguilar Amps, after her long time Orange affiliation, first time I noticed was their Tokyo Gardens show back in January....yep, she switched and not sure why..... maybe someone here does. A rare look at Miku's lovely Mother of Pearl Zemaitis guitar too.

I like this song. Not top tier, but solid, and different. A few more like this to flesh out their repertoire would be nice. And maybe, a song where Kanami ditches her guitar and rocks out on a keyboard!

I can't watch the MV for this song. I love the song, but the MV reminds me too much of DV and I spent 10 years in Law Enforcement/EMS, so I have issues with that. I love the song, I love the jazzy beat, I just cannot deal with the imagery of the MV.

The fact that this is one my least favorite maid songs and it's still a very good song says a lot about their songwriting.

I would say, stylewise, other than Dragon Cries, this is prob my least favorite Band Maid song. Kinda gives me Goo Goo Dolls or Matchbox 20 vibes. But instrumentally and vocally, it's a 10. Also, imo, the video doesn't help with my enjoyment. But credit Mincho for tickling the ivories.
