    It's been about a year since I've been to my local video game store, and I want to see if they pay good money for games. Years ago when they needed lots of inventory I could trade in hundreds of games. A year ago they would hardly take any of my trade in games. Now the game store is under new management, and I'm curious if it's worth trading in video games to get collection pieces or video games to profit.

    Honesty, I’d be surprised if any stores are taking 16-bit Sports games. They used to sit on our game shelf for months. Even marked down to $.10 no one was taking them!

    The disc replay's in the Detroit area tend to have a 50% bonus trade-in credit thing every year or so, I brought a big box of games in and they didn't even take everything but gave me the choice of $200 cash or 330 credit, which absolutely blew me away, also I have bought a Gameboy player set for $110 and and flipped it for $250 last month.

    My disc replay in my area is always desperate for video games. I had a huge bin of $5-$10 games plus some Blu rays and some guitar hero guitars (they were paying extremely well for them). They took EVERYTHING. After it all it was $270 cash or $350 credit. I looked around in the store but wasn't able to find it so I took the cash as I didn't pay that much for the video games and Blu rays. So I think it all depends on what inventory they have

    I normally get a little irritated with whatnot ads in every other video I watch, but that was just genius… 👏 👏 👏
    Also, there are a lot of game stores around me that are suuuuper picky with what they will accept and offer peanuts (while charging eBay + for everything… 🙄) which is what I feel happened here. However I do have one LGS that I frequent the most who gladly accept *almost* everything and offer fair store credit. So needless to say, that’s where I choose to spend my time and money. Wish other stores would figure this out…

    I am glad to see they have new management. They told me that I can't buy anything, because I am a reseller. But, I can sell to them...I thought that was weird. I trade in to the Angola Pawn shop, yep the same one you scoffed at several videos ago. Their prices are high, but they always hook me up on trade-ins. I built a good business relationship with them and give them items they are looking for. I have built a pretty sweet Wii/ WiiU personal collection without spending any of my own money.

Sometimes it can be a win but mostly a disappointment for that disc traders. Also if you ever by a DVD Steel book, check the case after buying it. One time I got home and the guy did not put the dvd in the case. So I had to go all the way up there after calling. Must of been a newbie mistake and I’m not sure if he still works there anymore but just giving you a heads up. Hope you guys had fun. I enjoy your guys content. 💯 👍

    Unfortunately, there's a lot of game stores who want their cake and eat it too. They won't let you trade in common title games that will go out the door quick for titles that they're going to sit on. There's a game store that kicked me out for trading in too many times. The store owner is a little baby and thought he was being taken advantage of. As though they're not doing the exact same thing. Lmfao.
    Just be aware of this. Or other stores have started to make it so you can't use store credit on games $40 or more. Which is an absolute joke.

    • @retromario6130
      @retromario6130 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s terrible, but I’m not surprised. Honestly if you’re a brick and mortar store you can’t run a business like a reseller. You need to offer customer service and be polite. I especially hate business owners who say, “I’m paying rent and taxes” when you ask them for a discount.

    Perhaps just create big bundles online and sell them in cheap prices to open more space in barn, then re-invest this income to compensate possible losses etc.?
