    Your drills have turned me from a complete scrub to a player feared by scrubs of lesser talent (nobody fears me yet I was being facetious). Thank you, B! Love your videos, they always help my idea of how to play better pool and that’s all that matters. The acid test is still my favorite drill. 🤟

    When I feel like I need to brush up on something, i go back often and re-watch several of your episodes. This is one I will revisit. I first 2 drills I do every practice. I'm finally getting more cue control, I'm going to be adding the 2 Below tomorrow. Thanks again, Bryan, for all your tips, personal advice and time. I've made improvements in the past 6 months that are solely from watching here!

    I love the drills... My brother teaches me a lot because he is a high skilled player and by all accounts a good teacher. But we focus on shots as they come up and then repeat those shots with whatever technique he is teaching me... He says because it is simply what comes up most im games is the most important... But drills on my own time he pointed to your page and sent a few links.
    So far my improvements have mainly been with my stroke form and the bridges im making. But i have also been running tables from the break on occasion now and he said that my patterns have been improving significantly (even though i screw it up often and have to adjust as i go).
    A couple weeks ago in our leagues he broke and ran all 7 of his racks... so i have faith that he is a pretty good person to take lessons from.
    Thanks for all your videos they are great!

    I am finding out, as I don’t have a home pool table and have to play at a pool hall, that it has become important and helpful if I decide on the drills and things I will work on before setting foot in the pool hall. Notice that when I get there, I’m not as committed to any certain drill or plan, and don’t commit totally to any one drill. When I plan ahead, I stick to it and it helps a lot more. Also, don’t plan a bunch of drills or practice plans, just a few. A few hours go by pretty quickly and trying to do everything means I don’t do anything well.

    Hi Brian - I have terrible 8 ball breaks and when I do make a ball it's inconsistent. I'm sure many other 8 ball players have the same issue. HOW ABOUT A VIDEO ON HELPING US 8 BALL PLAYERS ON HOW TO BREAK BETTER CONSISTENTLY? GIVE US VARIOUS OPTIONS & SUGGESTIONS! You videos are great in getting us to think but regardless of how much I practice I struggle withthe most important shot! Thanks!

      @@FXBilliards Every video helps! Sometimes the cue just doesn’t come off a rail like I expect it to, like a cut that’s next to the rail. It’s probably whatever spin that I think it needs that throws it off. I’m sure you’ve got a video on it somewhere in here! That and more experience will help.

    Last drill is great help. Started league play last year and worked my way down to a APA 2 but especially last couple months 90% of my racks I've gotten down to 1 ball (usually) or the 8. It's frustrating to loose such close games.

    I am a novice (about 20 hours of play total) and I practice drills 3-5 times a week since mid december '23. I start just with the cue ball playing a perfect straight shot returning via the cushion back to the tip of the cue. This calibrates my aim, stroke etc. Then I take ONE object ball and play straight shots. No spin stop shots with varying distance. Then I add some angle. Then I add another object ball to play basic position drills. I can spend 1 hour doing the basics, pocketing hundreds of easy shots. The last minutes of practice I play for fun: some caroms, combinations, kick shots, bank shots. The second I try to play 8 ball with myself, I start making stupid mistakes, so it feels like wasted effort during my limited time in the pool hall. But playing the last 3 balls of 9-ball, the 7,8,9 in order is great practice for me. I just scatter them by random and give it a go.

  • @DrGargani
    @DrGargani 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    you better believe it's not easy! lol....I throw out balls like you do in the main part of the video and practice the same way....difference is, even if I see the correct pattern of order, I either: A. miss the proper cut on the first shot, or B. fudge up the English leading up to the next shot....needs constant time and practice to get better, even if you know what direction you want to go in...

    I'm an APA 5, working towards a 6, and I'm still doing that 15 ball drill, 5 times, before each practice session or as a warmup before a match.
    I give myself 3 misses (3 "lives", I call it) before I reset the drill. I can usually get all 15 in with 3 chances. But I've gotten it where I've only been on my first or second "life".

    Good video, although I disagree with one assertion, that a beginning player won't benefit from coaching from a player who has trouble running a rack. The reasons are 1. It's often easier to see what someone else is doing wrong, than what you're doing wrong; and, 2. a coach doesn't have to be even as good a player as the person he's coaching, in any sport. Thus, a pitching coach doesn't throw a 95 MPH fastball and Tiger Wood's coach may have never shot better than a 75. However I do agree that sometimes pool players give bad advice. Even professional instructional DVDs can include a clunker section. I've seen a few!

    Hey Brian it's been a while since I have commented but, I'm in Southern Wisconsin. I shoot in weekly tournaments and day League against, and get tips from some of the best players in the state in the last 2 days I feel like I haven't learned a thing. A lot of the basics that I know and bad habits I've previously broken are coming back. I've asked you before about the mental aspect and I know you do have something out I just haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Without seeing me short and knowing what my issues are do you have any suggestions? Maybe even things that aren't directly at the pool table that I could try? Thank you for your time, have a nice day! 😁

    Positional play never works for me. I've tried drills, but all I can do is pot balls from positions not tried for, sometimes. When i try left or right english, i miss the pot by miles, when i do get into position, it's by luck. I miss most of my pots when i try for position, so no point.

    • @FXBilliards
      @FXBilliards  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Got to get your position played working AJ. Other than putting balls in the pocket, it is the absolute most important part of the game just start with three balls on the table and try to find patterns Then work your way up
