I remember reading a few years ago how "disappointed" some parents were, that she no longer lived up to the sweet, young and innocent status, they'd decided she should have. Lord alone knows then, what they'd make of this!
Because some people don't realize that Disney made the character she portrayed as soon as she Brock from Disney's control, guess what happened? She was cancelled by Disney and that was when she was like 18 years old and after that she broke every rule she could to get out of control of others that put her in that single box which she is not.

This poor girl had no childhood. No chance, until recently, to listen to music instead of just performing 4-chord, simple pop over and over.And, now that she's getting to listen more, check out what she's into! She's going through the stages of music that all metal heads go through. It's absolutely incredible seeing her evolve and I love where she's headed...
She's said before that she's always loved this music. She went through the Disney label to major label machine. You don't have a ton of leverage in decisions. Now that she's a n her own, she can do what she wants
