I'm from the US. I was between 10 and 11 years old when this came out. My dad took me to see it. Unless you were there, it's hard to get across just how huge this movie became in the US at the time. It became such a giant hit, especially with us kids. Totally made people look at scifi as a more respectable genre that can be successful in several different ways. Unfortunately some of these scenes were enhanced or added later, making it seem the effects were better than they were, but only in rather brief moments. It was still very impressive at the time. Things like "May the force be with you" became a catch phrase people would bring up in everyday situations. It was just such a huge hit.
I was 10 when this movie hit theaters, and I agree with you about its impact on us. However, there is only ONE scene that was "enhanced" that I felt went completely wrong (pretty sure you know the one I'm talking about). But yeah... even with the other scenes "adding" to the movie positively, I try to recommend people to watch the original theatrical releases (Project '77 4k, or Harmey's Despecialized Edition.... either or) first, THEN watching the "current" versions to understand the changes that were made. Most of them were actually good, and enhanced the movie fairly well. But that ONE scene..... >.
10:04... "The sun and the moon are in one place." It's two suns. Tatooine is part of a binary system. I saw this movie in the theaters when I was 7. It totally took over American culture for an entire generation. I'm looking forward to them watching Empire for obvious reasons. lol
Please watch the others too. I am excited what you think and how you will react on the plot changes. Continue to watch the Episodes 5-6 and then 1-3, probably later 7-9.
After Luke lost his aunt and uncle and told Ben he wanted to become a Jedi, these two were saying , "Yes, be like your father !!". The rest of us were like... ummm, yeah... about that...
I always enjoy the views of these 2 and their perspectives. So much is just universal. Glad that they enjoyed the movie. I saw it as a kid back in 1977. I’d have been 9 back them, both myself and my 8 year old brother. My other 1 brothers, one still a baby and the other not in existence back then. I still really enjoy these 3 movies.
Great seeing your excitement, reminds me how i was watching it with my dad when i was 7. Doesnt matter how old you are a good movie will always be a good movie.
Seen it in 1985 at a friends house and was like whoa' Make sure you watch them in order and you will really enjoy guys . Love me Trek too. All scifi :)
You know what would be cool for reaction channels to start doing? Reactions to original trailers of classic movies (pre-2000s) the way they were shown in theatres or on tv either before or after watching the movie. They could be at the end of the reaction or as 5 minute shorter trailer reaction videos prior to the actual reaction. As a 7 year old in 1977 my 9 and 5 year old brothers and I would flip through all 12 channels after school, including the 3 French language stations (Canadian), looking for Star Wars commercials to satisfy our craving like sci-fi junkies leading up to the release day and would freak out whenever we saw one, I even collected every issue of the Marvel Star Wars comic run from 1977-1985. Yeah Gen Z, in the 1970s we had a maximum of 12 television channels to choose from, no streaming, no internet, no cell phones, no PPV and Star Wars wasn't released on VHS until 1982, we did have PONG. If you were sent back in time you'd lose your minds out of sheer boredom in under an hour or do what we did, play stupid games like throwing rocks at each other and trying to block them with garbage can lids or faceplanting and breaking bones off failed jumps on poorly made bike ramps.
A cool fact is at the very beginning of the film, the model of the small ship was actually much bigger than the model of the giant ship chasing it. The model of the small ship was 3X the size of the big ship. They used special camera tricks to make it look like the evil ship was much larger.
@vashsunglasses Yes actually, it was originally going to be Hans ship (it had a cockpit similar to what was on the millennium falcon on the front), but George Lucas ordered a last minute redo because he thought the ship wasn't "Han Solo" enough. The final version of the Millennium Falcon was designed after a Cheeseburger with a single bite taken out of it that was sitting on the designer's bosses desk.
@@IntergalacticDustBunny “Evil?” As a veteran TIE fighter pilot of many computer games over the years, I can tell you we’re just trying to establish law and order! It’s those darn rebels that are the problem… and those Corellian light freighters. We don’t care for them.
The first couple Star Wars movies were iconic. The thing I always hated about Star Wars was that after you have seen the first couple movies. Every Star Wars movie is the same movie. The Empire always creates a bigger Death Star that gets blown up. The Rebels who win always have some shabby base that look like they are out of the back of some guys garage😂
Empire is all about technological innovation who want to unify the universe under one world government, and rebels are a bunch of gangs who want to play guitar and sing songs all day while drinking beer who never care about any innovation. As soon as the empire falls, the civilizations go back to dark ages with medieval rules.
The original trilogy will ALWAYS be the only ones you need to watch. Of Episodes 1-3, I only saw 1 all the way through. Of the last 3, I've only seen Force Awakens and it was enough for me to believe I haven't missed anything with the others.
Agree.. They ruined the franchise in the last couple. They got sad and depressing. What made star wars so good was the uplifting of humanity, and love mixed with humor.
episode 1 is fine, episode 2 is troublesome but ultimately still worth seeing if you enjoy the SW universe even despite being flawed, Ep. 3 is excellent and arguably the best of the prequels- and all the prequels are solid if paired with The Clone Wars series filling in a lot of the somewhat limited characterizations in the film(s) though it's not necessary. I don't hold disliking the prequels against anybody but they're worth watching at least once for anyone who enjoys SW.
@@Spikeelsucko I saw bits and pieces of 2 & 3 but I just couldn't get into them enough to watch them all the way through. There were moments in each but they felt lacking and sluggish so didn't hold my attention. I haven't tried watching them since even though they are on tv quite often. The Force Awakens felt like they were trying too hard to bring back the magic from the original trilogy so I had no interest in watching the last two. Maybe one day I will but the excitement from the original trilogy will never be duplicated for sure.
I never saw the prequels in theaters, we rented after the fact. I was kind of excited to see them. We did episode 1 and was left rather disappointed. Then when episode 2 came out, we just turned it off about halfway through, just could not get into it or really follow where it was trying to go. Never bothered with episode 3. Never tried watching them again. Now the force awakens I really liked. Have not seen any of the ones after that though. I've been kind of hoping some other director would redo the prequels but I doubt a studio wants to sink money into another try, but I would support that.
Okay, before I just jump in and start giving out "Star Wars Lore", here (which I do on Reaction channels, to help them understand what they are seeing)..... I know that these guys do not speak English (which is fine, no problem there), but because my comments tend to be VERY long and involved (without giving away spoilers for what is to come... I have a good reputation on that)... I have to ask one question (with all due respect, obviously): Will someone be willing to translate my comment(s) for them so that they will understand everything going on in the Star Wars universe? I enjoy aiding new fans of the franchise as best I can, and again, it is my personal policy NOT to spoil anything they haven't seen yet. I know that Star Wars is VERY detailed in its universe, and I truly enjoy seeing people experience it for the first time (as I did, back in 1977 at the age of 10). There is a LOT that can be missed on the first viewing, so I only wish to enhance new fans enjoyment of the series. I have a VERY serious "anti-spoiler" policy, because that would take away from the fun of discovery. However, it can be VERY easy to "get lost" in the universe of Star Wars. In some ways, "not understanding" certain elements can be as bad as "spoilers". Fortunately, I know where that line is, and refuse to cross it. Which is the reason for my question. I do not mind "putting in the work" of making the comments to help, but if they won't have it explained to them, I don't see the reason to do so. I will, of course, still watch the videos/reactions, as I like you guys. Also, I do realize that there is not only a language barrier, but also a cultural one. Again, I don't mind trying to help to the best of my ability. I respect cultures that are different from my own (unlike most Americans), and part of the reason I enjoy videos like this is to learn something myself. So, please, if whomever is monitoring the comment section is willing to translate (as best you can, obviously) my comments, I will be more than happy to take the time to make them. Just please let me know one way or the other. Much love, and peace to you.

I heavily disagree, the movies are best watched in release order and it honestly infuriates me when people suggest doing it chronologically. Firstly, you completely ruin the main plot twist of episode V if you've already seen the prequels (Arguably the most important sequence in all of star wars). Secondly the prequels were created with the knowledge that everyone had seen the originals and they offer backstory on characters and events that had been alluded to, like filling in the info on who Obi Wan was, which is a much more entertaining story concept if you aready know Old Ben. Chronological movie order offers no benefits aside from an easier to follow narrative, but I have never heard anyone say that Star Wars is a complex or hard narrative to follow.
No need to get infuriated... Each to their own after all, but I personally prefer to follow the telling of a story from beginning to end as the creator intended (I think George Lucas would liked to have started with Episode I originally). I feel the same way about the Lord of the Rings movies and The Hobbit movies. Granted, it's a bit easier to separate these two trilogies, but i do prefer to follow a story through from beginning to end as originally envisioned by the mind that created it.
@@Cristorbius Maybe infuriated is a bit too much, I just think it could ruin the experience. I agree if they follow books they should be chronological as per the original story too!
