I'm an Army veteran myself. I totally agree how hard it is to adjust back to civilian life. It took me a few years to just fit back in with my own family.
I have to admit when I first heard Kelly Clarkson was her own show....I was skeptical...but from day one she has my full attention and I'm so glad I was wrong....good luck and God Bless....she's a breath of fresh air....periodt
He got himself in that position by making a bad decision as a human being, DUI that cost him his license and his car. This had nothing to do with being a marine. Just because you serve your country doesn’t mean laws don’t apply to you upon your return home. It’s a very dangerous thing to elevate anyone to a position above reproach. He could have killed someone. I’m glad that those in his community have stepped up to help him and that veterans groups are stepping in. He deserves the help he’s getting here because of his service to our country. But he also deserves that trouble he got in. Again, his poor choices could have killed someone. And if it were someone you loved he killed while driving drunk, you wouldn’t rightly give a shit about his service to this country, you’d want him punished to the fullest extent of the law. NO ONE should be above the law.
Erik Stenberg exactly! Saddens me that it takes non-profit originations to take care of our veterans, that it isn’t an automatic thing that’s done. Not enough of them are educated on how to adapt to civ life!
If a brethren is overtaken in a fault ye which are spiritual should restore such an one in a spirit of meekness considering thyself lest though also be tempted. This woman and her community demonstrated that scripture beautifully. I'm so glad they extended the mercy they would want for themselves to him. We all need mercy no one is perfect. My righteousness is a filthy rag before the LORD.
Thank you young man for your service. You are not alone!! There is help out there never be afraid to ask even if it's just for some food or clothing. You higher power (whomever you believe in) will show you the way to the right people and things to make it happen.
Kelly, this is exactly , exactly what my son has experienced... to the very extreme! Thankfully my son thru a very scary turn of events and quick thinking on his part he is in the VA rehab and has been for a little over three months, in thru the holidays... he lives out west and I live in The Midwest but we will get back to each other when the time is right...there is a time for everything....just wanted to respond that this is exactly what these Vets have to come home to....no IMMEDIATE AND CONTINUED MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HELP. THE SERVICE CHANGES YOU and it’s hard to do life without coming back from the military. Thanks you for spotlighting this topic.
Aww, tears of happiness for this guy....prayers everything keeps looking up for him. Having a village sure helps. Thank you for all the good deeds and inspiration! 💕
Thank you Thomas, bro Semper Fi. Thank you Kiria for helping Thomas. And thank you Kelly for bringing attention to this epidemic that is affecting our veterans.
It is with a heavy heart that I must make this update in Thomas's life. Thomas was murdered in his home on Monday, June 7, 2021. This episode changed his life for the better and Kelly with her huge heart had a hand in making his life greater, and for that, we are forever grateful to her and her team. Thomas was taken from us shortly after his 29th birthday. We hope this update can reach Kelly, as I know she'd want to know what happened to him. May he find the peace he searched for in life.
As a Army Veteran when I got out in 2003 it wasn’t a easy transition either and several decisions later I was homeless within 18 months. Thank God for the Angels he placed on this earth and now I’m a husband, father and small business owner.
I'm so glad Thomas has the support he deserves and people willing to help him. I never served in the military but the one thing I'm disappointed(pissed off actually) how many veterans have served this country only to get the shaft when they return home. Our Gov has stated over and over they will take care of our Heros when they come home but the small print of that statement is, they never do. We as a country need to help out all our veterans as they have sacrificed way too much for this country, for them to be discarded by our Gov. Much love for all who have served our country and a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart. ♥️✌️
I really am loving Kelly’s show! She comes off as very genuine. And I love how she keeps ALL the guests for the whole show. ❤️ This was a beautiful episode & I am so happy that he has some support. Thanks to him for his service 💪🏾❤️
His seem such a good guy. Veterans shouldn’t have to be struggling like this when they served the country. I’m glad he got help. Wish him all the best.
I just wanna say this made my heart smile. We need to help all of our veterans. What they see and go through... I couldnt even imagine. And then to come back and not be able to readjust easily. I just cant. :(
Jennifer Akers I was homeless for over six months this year finally got into a place found a job lost my job now struggling to keep my head above water trying to not lose my place. It's not as many people that care as you think. Even going to therapy once a week to be able to talk about PTSD, anxiety, and depression helps to not have to keep it balled up inside. Not as many people are as apt to help as you would think.
@@PTSDeeD212 well look I know you dont know me, but I'm a terrific listener and I have been told I give pretty good advice. So if you ever need anything you can msg me.
Jennifer Akers wow. This is has got to be a first but umm, what is your email address or I could leave mine? You know what I appreciate the effort but I'm pretty sure you're just like everyone else that calls themselves "reaching out" but at the end of the day full on abandons me. I mean him saying his"pantry is bare" is literally the story of my life right now. I have one gallon is water in my refrigerator that sustains me and one gallon of gas in my car that I pray will get me to my next group.
I've watched every episode, and it's stories like this that make me proud to call myself a fan of this show. You know the saying, that sometimes it takes a village to raise a child, right? Thomas thought he just needed a ride to a job interview, but what he really needed was a village, and because of Ms. Kelly Clarkson and her wonderful team, he got a village.
And America giving military aid millions to other countries when its own Military is in so much need in it's own country... SMH... Thank you for your service sir. 🎖️
Wow I love love love this! My faith in humanity has just been restored. Thank you Kelly Clarkson for being a beacon of light And thank you Thomas for your service. God bless you.
Tia's Tips right? It breaks my heart that these men and women are willing to die for us, and when they are done serving this is how we treat them? I’m so heart broken! We need to change the way we treat those that are currently serving and those that have served!
I’m pretty sure if Kelly didn’t have a first season budget, she’d give that guy everything he needs. This is awesome though, I’m glad the show reaches out to local organizations to help and support. 👏👏
Thank you Thomas for your service!! The owner of code 4 is so amazing. We need more people like this. If I ever need security I'm spending my money with code 4!
Soo awesome!!! I agree that not alot of our veterans are taken care of as they should be..whatever it takes dont ever give up!! It doesnt have to be a handout but atleast give them resources and help them..once they know they arent alone they start to see the light at the end of tunnel. Just be decent and kind to others it doesnt cost you anything and you're never broke because of it....

Yes true yes good for Kelly
I love how they didn’t enable him or give him handouts. But they actually stood by him to help become a functioning person in society.
Absolutely...handouts don't fix anything
@@nickjones9291 however if anyone should get a temporary handout it should be someone who risk his life for the protection of this country.

Awesome story, a marine should not been in need. He served his country with honor.
