I have cancer and I can tell you that yes, having people be strong for you does matter. One of the most heartbreaking things about having cancer is seeing how it tears down the people around you. He was being strong for her and good on him for it.

yeah I learned a while ago that the yelling is because he cares, not because he's a douchebag. No he is not. He just has low tolerance for idiocy in the kitchen and I don't blame him. I run a kitchen in a restaurant and I have to deal with idiocy every day. The highest compliment I have ever gotten from my staff is "who the f*** to you think you are? Gordon Ramsay?" after I scolded a bunch of kitchen workers over food safety. My nickname is "the food safety nazi."
Word. Ramsey is only short with people who should be competent professionals, and wind up being daft or worse. There's tons of examples of him being wonderful, especially to children.
He is only hard to professionals who SHOULD KNOW BETTER and be held to a higher standard. All the shows with kids in it, he is nice. polite and seems to care and enjoy it.
He screams at idiots who are supposed to be professionals and should know better. When he was cooking with kids, he was nothing but supportive. When a blind girl cooking was scared about her pie being bad, he ate it and described every minute, used sounds to help and was amazingly patient and kind. He's a national treasure.

yeah I learned a while ago that the yelling is because he cares, not because he's a douchebag. Honestly he seems like one of the the nicest and most genuine people on Earth, especially when it comes to kids. watching him interact with children and teenagers (mainly if they're aspiring chefs) is some of the most heartwarming shit ever. He's so patient and encouraging and he actually helps them when they need it. I just love him so much haha
He yells at people because he knows they can be better and tries to get the best out of them but a lot of them are just lazy or adamant that they don't need to improve. He doesn't mind people willing to learn from mistakes and realize they're wrong; he hates arrogance, entitlement, and attitude.
The man really is like a lion, roaring when enraged but has a "lion's heart" in the end.
