Having owned the SSK003/Blueberry/Batman Seiko 5 Sports GMT since May of last year, I've come to seriously love this watch, and have enjoyed the raft of YT reviews, both positive and negative. (For the record, mine runs an average of +4s/day out-of-the-box, not too shabby.) Yours has been a unique take since, near as I can tell, it's the only review from someone who might have more than an inkling as to what the overused term "mil-spec tough" might actually mean. One interesting thing regarding the whole Hardlex-vs-sapphire controversy is the notion that while sapphire is certainly the most scratch-resistant, it is *not* as shatter-resistant as treated mineral crystal, of which Hardlex is Seiko's proprietary variation. My experience with Hardly has been largely positive - of some twelve Seikos I've owned over several decades, I've managed to put perhaps a few hairline scratches on maybe two, and while I haven't exactly gone out of my way to bash any of them, I haven't babied any of them, either. Thanks for the straight-up review!
As far as accuracy, I regulated mine and it runs at +/-2.5 seconds a day. It will be +2.5 one day and maybe -2 a day or two later. It hasn’t been more than 4 seconds off in the 3 weeks since regulating it.
I own the SSK003J1 Blueberry version of this watch. I’ve had mine since February-March . I’m loving mine and think it’s an exceptional watch . The only part of this watch that bothered me was the clasp . So I ordered a Marine Master clasp and added that to the stock bracelet and to me Seiko perfection 👍🏻💯
Good insights on the watch! I have this watch and its a great alrounder, though I still prefer to wear my SKX009 so it doesnt get much time on the wrist sadly.
Thanks bro I appreciate the support. Yeah I don’t like when critics unbox the watch and immediately review it. You have to spend a fair amount of time with the watch and put it through its paces in order to do a proper review. To answer your question, I bought the watch at Macy’s. They stock them regularly.
It's a nice looking watch but the fact that it doesn't have a sapphire crystal along with having a slightly raised cyclops date window is a deal breaker for me. I think I'll go with the Citizen Promaster Marine series BJ7111-86L. Cheers!
I must be missing something, it does have a cyclops 🤔 Regardless, I hope you find the right watch for you. Sounds like you already made up your mind with the Citizen. Wear it in good health 🙏
Yeah, 5 minutes is out of the acceptable range for the watch. Yours probably is magnetized like the other guy said. Take it to a watchmaker and have them run it through a degausser
My dial is misaligned and the GMT hand is off. If my dial was aligned the hand would be even more off. Runs about 40 seconds slow a day. Luck of the draw
That sucks to hear man, I’m sorry. I’d definitely ask for a replacement. Seiko isn’t known to have the best QC relative to other brands, but some things are simply unacceptable.
Why haven't I bought mine? Because I won an SKX007, a Turtle, a Citizen Promaster Diver, and a handful of Eco Drive Field watches. I already struggle to decide which watch to wear each day (even if I double wrist)... The Seiko 5 GMT is over priced (800.00 AUD). I can buy a mint SKX007 for that! Or a Prospex.... Also, I dislike the 24 Hour Bezel and object to paying over the odds for a hollow linked strap I'm just going to replace.

Great video brother! I’m originally from Hawaii and was in the Marine Corps 2011-2015. I became a watch-nerd within the last few years. Enjoy!

Fantastic, glad to hear you’re getting so much accuracy out of your watch. 🤙 wear it well

If I owned an SKX, I’d probably be wearing that regularly too 😂

I love mine! Great review!
I tell you why.
I love eth about this piece apart from the crown positioning at 3:47.
It almost freaks me out.
Only acceptable on the Willard.

Thanks for your support! I appreciate the kind words 🤙
Great review brother
i am thinking of buying it now is it worth buying at this price now??
i am a student i dont need the gmt function i just liked its look
Great watch, definitely worth ~400 bucks.
Buy it. If you like it and you can afford to drop the money on it, then just go right for it and buy the watch.
Man, you got lucky maybe? My SSK regularly jumps 5 mins ahead over a day.
yours is magnetize dude, just demagnetize it.

Needs demagnetizing and regulating.

I would have returned that watch. Never had a Seiko run that bad

Good for you
Simple overprice!
