I'm also a Jax native and I used to live around the corner from that boat ramp and would paddle that route after work to unwind after many a stressful day. What you pointed out is something I miss the most about Jax is the ability to turn a corner and instantly go from urban chaos to untouched nature. Now that I'm in south florida most of the inshore waterways are straight canals unless you drive way into the everglades and it's really hard to find somewhere to take a casual paddle without heavy boat traffic or have dogs barking at you from people's yards
