    Can you please do a detailed video on wastegate and blow off valve plumbing, what’s needed, where it goes and how it works etc. a lot of people skip over it and just show hot side and cold side fab. It would be appreciated to help us learn the process on that part of the build.

    I always say "Do it once do it right" Sometimes that means the project does not get done on a budget... but.... if it means the difference between a vehicle you enjoy and is reliable vs something constantly broken or just doesn't work right then it's worth it. Nothing worse then chasing your tail doing everything over again because you didn't do it right the first time.

    • @Stapleton42
      @Stapleton42  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree. Sometimes done is better than perfect but the scale should always tilt towards perfect 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @pondbear71
      @pondbear71 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But on the other hand there's "why do it right when you can do it twice". I prefer to stand by your statement at work because I wrench on jets. But at home its what's gonna make me smile at the end of the day. Lots of times its get 'er running any means possible the decision to bubblegum and zip tie stuff can be wonderful, especially if you know for sure you will be redoing it in the future. I stand by the freiburger mentality of a driving project is more motivating than a roller

    As someone who is named Cole. this whole "suck it cole" thing is gunna be fightin words soon. hahaha
    The best things for building with limited tools or budget is a bench top belt and disk sander and a swivel head deburring tool. In canada we got a store called canadian tire, it tosses these things on sale all the time for $129.99. i used it and an angle grinder with cut off wheels to build a set of long tubes for my rx7 and it was fucking heaven having it to clean edges and flatten my crooked cuts. Also Swivel head deburring tool, like $10 and hands down best burr cleaner off-er for the inside edge of pipes and junk. its a hook with a hardened edge, put it in and spin it around.

    I bought one of these for my 6.0 Silverado build. It fit great. I ended up drilling a 2.5” hole where the O2 sensor hole is, and putting a 60mm wastegate elbow there. I also had to clean up a bunch of the casting with a carbide bit so I could easily fit the spark plugs/socket in there. Great deal if you ask me

    You know what else is cool. If you take the bolt/nut out of the elbo of the hood hinge. you can raise the hood into the “service mode” and put the bolt back into the new hole that lines up. The hood will sit straight up. It will still close down quite a ways but don’t try to close close it.

    Hey man I just finished installing that exact manifold on my truck. Same setup except a vband on the driver side as well. Highly recommend a flex pipe or some bellows in the crossover. Mine ended up screwing up the o ring gasket on the driver side manifold and that’s why I ended up switching to a vband and adding the flex pipe in. I got it spot on and perfectly flat after finish welding the crossover, ended up leaking at the passenger side vband as it warmed up. After a few heat cycles it moved a considerable amount

    Be careful buddy my twin turbo kit for my Tahoe had casted parts and they turn almost immediately red hot and melted all my spark plug wires. Wrap it!! (It also melted the a/c hose it was against like yours is)

    I got the same manifold off Amazon for a trailblazer I picked up that came with a 5.3l LH6 from the factory, all aluminum like the L33. Right now it has a LS9 cam, 1218 springs, arp headstuds with LS9 head gaskets. Got some 80lb snake eater injectors, seem to work good for the price and actually come with data, walbro 450, a 88/93 turbo, ICT timing cover with turbo drains, boost leash, 60mm wastegate and all the random v bands, lines and shit. Still trying to decide on air to air or air to water and whether I'll run meth injection, prolly end up swapping the cam out for a bigger turbo cam and either dual 450s or a 525 with bigger fuel lines. Never seen a turbo 5.3 with a LS9 cam so idk what it'll do. Anyways the manifold looks good, outside casting is kinda shitty but won't affect anything and there's spots where it overflowed inside that I'll have to grind out and it'll have to be grinded down some where the strut tower is or notch the tower. And I'm gonna build a crossover pipe and exhaust because the prices on the hotpart premades were kinda crazy, made for a silverado and use 4 bolt wastegate. Anyway the trailblazer with the cam, and head work plus turbo and a manifold I couldn't use only cost me $1500, the thing has leather heated seats and a dvd player and is in mint shape, plus $3000 in parts so if it makes good power it'll be sweet. It is 4x4 with a 4L65e tho, so the trans will most likely be in pieces with the first 4hi boosted launch, it weighs like 4400lbs and I'd rather build a cat eye but for the price I couldn't say no.
