I don't understand why, after quarantine, the snakes aren't housed at a zoo or some other officially run location. That way they wouldn't be outside in the environment and wouldn't have to be killed. Such a waste of beautiful creatures!
The quarantine period would need to be for several years. Reptiles can carry dormant diseases that can erupt after long periods of time. They wouldn't have the resources to keep them that long.

I worked with juvenile convicted of crimes, even violent ones, and with help and guidance they grew up to be just another member of society living a normative life. He deserves a second chance and I really hope he managed to get the correct visa and had no other issues because of his past.
